IT was a pretty quiet night on Monday and the Dutch Eerste games didn't live up to last week's billing.

I didn't think they'd all go over 2.5 goals for the second time running but in the end three fell short and my treble fell short.

My Super Single was a double on Brentford not to lose and Atalanta and over 2.5 match goals. Brentford did the business – even though they conceded two injury-time goals to draw 2-2 – but Atalanta made heavy weather of handing Benevento a 14th successive league defeat as they won 1-0.

Hoping to do better on Tuesday and there is much more to look at with four Premier League games including Watford v Man United and I've posted a separate English preview.

In the Championship there are two games and two more in League Two as well as some EFL trophy matches which I'll avoid.

Wednesday is the big night in Scotland with Rangers v Aberdeen and Motherwell v Celtic and on Tuesday the winners of St Mirren v Livingston will go top of the Championship while Inverness face Brechin and Dumbarton welcome Queen of the South.

I was interested in the Aberdeen price with Rangers having lost back-to-back games to Hamilton and Dundee. Celtic and Hibs have won at Ibrox this season and despite the fuss over Derek McInnes I can't see the Dons losing.

McBookie go 12-5 on an Aberdeen win which is likely but I'm having a decent-sized Super Single on Aberdeen draw no bet at 8-5. Rangers have won just two out of seven at home and until Friday had been better away with five victories.

On the Continent the focus is on the cups with games in Italy and Spain (second legs) while there are French Ligue 1 and 2 matches.

I'm focusing on the UK games and for a Super Single I'm chancing Dumbarton not to lose at Queens. Like Watford the Sons are too big at 15-4 with bet365 and McBookie when you consider they're unbeaten in four and their only defeat in six was at leaders Dundee United.

Queens were well beaten 3-0 at Livi at the weekend and their only win in four was a Scottish Cup replay at home to Montrose. How Queens can b 7-10 favourites beats me so with the odds seemingly wrong I'm backing Dumbarton draw no bet at 5-2 with BetStars.

For a Top Treble take West Brom not to lose against a Newcastle side off the boil and with one win in 17 in the Premier League on the road. Add Derby, one defeat in 11, to beat Ipswich at home and check out Nathan's comment on this one.

Complete with Inverness to beat Brechin – ICT were unbeaten in seven until Saturday's loss against St Mirren with a red card proving costly. Brechin picked up just their third point of the season at the weekend by drawing with Dundee United but by all accounts a “ploughed field” was the leveller. The surface in Inverness will be better and Brechin have no points on the road.

My both to score treble starts with the Premier League games at Leicester and Watford. All recent previous meetings between the sides on these grounds have brought up this market. Complete the treble with the St Mirren game which has come up in four of five meetings – the exception being a 1-0 Livi win in the Betfred Cup at the start of the season.

On the Continent best bets should be Sampdoria and SPAL at home to Pescara and Cittadella respectively in the Italian Cup as long as they don't go too weakened. In Spain Malaga are the only favourite trailing from the first leg and they are 8-13 to beat Numancia.

    Morning all,

One game that interests me today @EVENS

    Bordeaux vs Saint-Étienne BTTS

Both teams in patchy form but Bordeaux have scored 3/5 last home games and Saint-Étienne have 4/5

The best stat is the H2H the last 4 games seeing this bet landing with 4+ goals landing in the last 3. So we can conclude that goals are on the menu when these teams meet. Hope the stats play onto our hand tonight.

    Hi,
    Indian I league

    east bengal vs aizawl

East bengal have roped in former Bagan midfield general Katsumi Yusa. The Japanese will pair up with Mahmoud Al Amna who was the chief architect behind Aizawl’s I-League triumph last season. As we have seen during the pre-season friendlies, Jamil is fielding only one striker and that is Willis Plaza for east bengal. With a strong squad and a great coach, The Red and Golds are expected to bring home the much elusive I-League title.

East Bengal’s opponents Aizawl FC have a long season ahead. Along with I-League, the reigning champions have the AFC competitions to look forward to. Unfortunately, 80 percent of their title-winning squad left the club this season

Bet to consider – East bengal to win???

I hope it’s McInnes even if it’s just for Chris Guy’s stake. He got a lot of stick for his tip – with so many treating it like a loser before it is.

Yes I’m really hating the speculation, especially when the market is constantly changing, no one has a clue. I’ve got a stake on McInnes myself, and haven’t been checking the odds, just don’t care until they actually appoint someone and will be glad when it’s done and dusted.. I’ve written it off in my head, if he does get appointed, bonus.

    • Avatar of sless1903

Mr F it is a loser. McInnes stated on friday during his press conference he wasn’t interested in the Rangers job and his future was with Aberdeen. Not sure what else needs to be said.

    • Avatar of mark edley
      maccathered 7 years ago

Luis Suarez pledged his future to Liverpool stating he loves the club,he got massive payrise then months later he was gone, words are cheap mate,Mcinnes is rangers through and through so its obvious where his heart lies.

    • Avatar of clydeman
      clydeman 7 years ago

Well Mr f, I think you mean sake but stake also fits lol

Rumor has it they went back with another offer yesterday, hence the odds drop. Like Mr F says, he’s hardly gonna confirm or deny anything at the minute, especially when they play them twice in 5 days.

Should be a feisty few games…red card anyone

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 7 years ago

I’ve maintained they want McInnes and the compo is the problem.
Whether McInnes still doesn’t want to move after getting an offer- that’s another question.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 7 years ago

That’s an unfair on McInnes. He’s Aberdeen manager just now and that has to be respected.
He answered the questions the only way he could – he didn’t say he’d turned down Rangers.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 7 years ago

The Rangers job needs to be filled – and then the bet’s a loser.
McInnes said he hadn’t received an offer and was happy to stay at Aberdeen.
Does that change if he gets an offer and compo is agreed? Only he knows.

    • Avatar of sless1903
      sless1903 7 years ago

Obviously non of you have watched the press conference and seen how Mcinnnes spoke. Also I’m nae sure how Rangers have managed to make another offer when they’ve never contacted Aberdeen in the first place. Finally McInnes isn’t a Rangers man. He’s openly admitted he’s a Morton man.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit

Sless get real man – you’re arguing for the sake of it. Any one in football ( and there are a few exceptions) will follow the money. If Rangers shell out enough McInnes will be at Rangers and the chairman at Aberdeen will be happy despite the press conferences.

Sorry Old Al but you don’t have a clue what your talking about McInnes has already shown once he’s not all about money by knocking back over £1.0m a year from Sunderland at the start of the season. He’s also publicly stated twice this year he’s not interested in the Rangers job. Not sure what part of that u don’t understand or what he has to say.

    Morning gents

Posted my selections last night –

    Kilmarnock u20 v Ross C u20 1.30

Don’t need to say too much about this, I’ve been raving about this Ross county side for ages now, 36 goals in their last 6 matches 4-2 2-3 4-3 4-2 3-2 4-3 – should see more of the same today

Back over 3.5 match goals 10/11 (Bet365) (NAP)

    *****************************

    Motherwell u20 v Hibs u20 KO 2

My other favourites development side Hibs are in action – the youngvhibees are have have a great season and they’ve been fanatastic to me for goals

Back over 3.5 match goals 10/11

    ***************************

Back both matches over 2.5 match goals 1/1

    ****************************

    Derby v Ipswich KO 7.45pm

The Rams are in feat shape at the moment and the momentum is definitely with them coming into this match – they’ve scored 2 or more in 7 of their last 8 and play an Ipswich side who are in a poor run and are shipping goals ( no clean sheet in 17)

Back Derby over 1.5 team goals 5/6 Coral

    ***************************

    French Ligue 2

    Lorient v Nimes. KO 8pm

No surprise to see my posting Nimes again, I think they have landed my French Friday night NAP 3 or 4 times now over the last couple of months including Friday’s nights 4-0 romp at home to Bourg. Nobody has scores more goals this season than Nimes and they travel to play a lorient side who seen their last two games end 4-2 2-4. Should see both sides net here leading is to goals

Back over 2.5 match goals 11/13 (Unibet)

Will also been on all matches over 0.5 first half goals – was 7/8 on Friday. It’s a really good market as you get great odds in my opinion

    Double
    Watford over 3.5 team corners
    Watford +1.5 asian handicap.
Basically watfords in good form and i can rule us out winning but if we do actually turn up tonight i cant see us winning more than a 1 goal difference. Would have to agree value is in watford tonight theyve been over priced but made the asian handicaps worth while. And 3.5 team corners is a very reasonable amount being at home.

Main bet came in yesterday with both sides netting in Israel, but no luck elsewhere.

A bit of a hodge podge of selections for my main pick tonight. Fancy Derby to continue their good form and Billericay’s visit to Harrow ought to see goals. The bigger priced selection is Brighton to net at home to Palace. Led by summer signing Pascal Gross, Brighton have performed admirably so far this season. They’ve predominantly only failed to net against better opposition (United, City, Arsenal, Watford and Leicester) and have scored in all but one of their home fixtures. They’re unbeaten in their last 6 fixtures if you disregard trips to the Emirates and Old Trafford.

Roy has had a decent effect on Palace’s form but I still backed them to concede at the weekend – and they did. That meant they still have just 1 clean sheet this season (in the league cup against Huddersfield). Brighton have scored past better sides than this and I fancy Chris Hughton’s side to see this as a great chance to pick up 3 points.

    Brighton [to score]
    Derby [to score]
Harrow Borough v Billericay [O1.5 Match Goals]

    Treble @ 10/11 (Sky Bet)
    ____________________

Half stake pick on a couple of non-league games to see goals on a chilly Tuesday night. Kettering can throw up the odd 0-0 but Banbury are consistently scoring and conceding. St Ives rarely fail to net at home, though still concede, and Hitchin are a much worse side on their travels than their league position suggests.

    Banbury v Kettering
    St Ives v Hitchin

BTTS Double @ 27/20 (Stan James)

      LEROY.
again we have the same line of thought.
My nap today is Brighton v palace btts 11-10 (hills bgt dalek).
Though palace haven’t scored away in 6 games they are improving and Brighton conceded in last 3 homes to ubbush teams in stoke, saints and Everton.
This is classed as a local tear up, don’t know why as they are miles apart, so palace should be fired up.
      Good luck bud

    Hi gents.

Premier League action tonight sees two sides in poor form battle it out for a big three points early one. Both sides are a decent price, and I’m taking my chances on the Baggies to score before a generous goal time. While they’ve been in poor form, they’ve still managed to score twice at home in two of their last three against City and Watford.

    West Brom Goal Before 57:00 @ 5/6 @ 365 – 3 points

Repost from this mornings earlier thread:

Apologies to the site for my lack of input on the past Middlesbrough/Derby game but my old nemesis ” sleep ” robbed me of time to pitch in with my pre-match thoughts and team news. If ever there was a game you don’t want to miss, its when your own team plays a fellow promotion hopeful away from home at a place we rarely win and then go and put in a team performance likely to make the rest of the league take note.
So I shall summarise on what happened Saturday.
Derby have a wretched record away to Middlesbrough, I think we’d won once in 9 or 10 attempts. Even though we’d turned a corner – all be it for the blip that was the awful result at home to Reading, we really were making the most of our historic purple patch that is October/November. Maybe its as well that I wasn’t around to post because I would of avoided tipping the Rams away at the stadium of light without a shadow of doubt. I think Peter Shilton was the last Derby goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet away there, that’s how bad our record has been there.
Middlesbrough started hard and fast, the kitchen sink was well and truly thrown at us, crosses pinging in to the back post every attack, but every time, nobody connected properly. that was the first 10 minutes, but somehow Derby absorbed the pressure, got half a chance and our main man Vydra hit his 10th league goal with a thunderous strike from around 14 yards. 1 nil the rams. Borough never let Derby settle and the crosses kept coming, yet bad luck and choices kept the score at 1 nil up till ht.
On 47 mins, another quick break from a terrible back pass saw Vydra get into the Borough box and Ayala brought him down. Vydra yet to miss a penalty this season got his 11th league goal of the season.
With 55 mins on the clock, Traore was brought on to give Middlesbrough a bit more bite, but it wasn’t enough. On 60 mins, Nugent fed a sweet pass to the right flank leaving a 2 on 2 attack and a gilt edged chance to grab a third but the ref stopped play for the foul and dished out a 2nd yellow to Ayala. 7 minutes later Vydra claimed the match ball after a back pass to the Middlesbrough keeper which he miskicked in the air. It only travelled 6 yards, but Vydra volleyed it into the net anyway.
Middlesbrough stats, they dominated everything, shots at goal, possession, corners – but no goals. Reading between the lines going into the game, all of Middlesbrough’s previous 4 matches – all wins were against bottom 6 sides, so this was a test against a side en-par with them. The reds fans seem angry that they’ve not competed on their own turf against a promotion chasing side and I think they’re worried about their prospects against similar types of sides with that pedigree that they’re yet to face. Only time will tell.
Derby’s away form is currently promotion standard, 2 good away draws followed by 4 good away wins against quality sides.
George Thorne and Martin made cameo’s again but the gaffer has stated he is afraid to change the Nugent/Vydra partnership because Vydra is thriving in this role.
I don’t know what Huddlestone is still doing in the starting 11 because he’s still a yard or 3 short and with Thorne getting ever match fit with each week, its only a matter of time before he’ll grab his starting 11 chance.
I am confident that tonight, the rams will capitalise on this game in hand when we entertain Ipswich. We’re only 4/6 or thereabouts with most bookies and on Saturday we have another ” easy game on paper ” when Burton come to town.
When this Ipswich game was initially scheduled, Derby were all over the place, nothing quite clicking in to place. I think Ipswich would far rather of played us then rather than now. But for Derby, we’d far rather play them now than 6 weeks ago. A win for the rams will bring us 2 points from 2nd spot.
We’re also currently 4/9 with betfair to beat Burton on Saturday. Should we win tonight, that price will surely freefall. I just hope the win and I manage to jump onto that Saturday price before the markets catch up with that.
With Vydra just 2 goals away from top scorer in the league, a match ball on the mantelpiece and 2 games against sides ( particularly Burton ) that have goals written all over them, I’d be stunned if Vydra hasn’t added a couple to his tally come 16:45pm Saturday.
    Best of luck folks.

    Derby team news:

Same starting 11 and bench as per the last 2 matches:

    Carson
    Baird/Keogh/Davis/Forsyth
    Ledley/Huddlesone
    Lawrence/Vydra/Weimann
    Nugent

Why fix something that isn’t broken. I think Derby should be too strong for Ipswich and i’d like to see some strong home performances after a run of very tough aways. A 3 goal swing tonight could see the rams go above Aston Villa on goal difference but i’m not foolish enough to speculate that we’ll grab a 3 nil… But you never know in football.
I think tonight could easily see 10+ corners total, Vydra is the most likely of any Derby player to score if ATGS is your thing, his strike rate is 2nd to none right now.
Derby were not that great defensively against Middlesbrough, even though we got 3 without reply, it was a combination of bad luck and choices that saw them fail to net. We’ll have to be on our toes tonight to keep them out. I’ll be honest, I do not know much about Ipswich, but their form isn’t currently that good.

I grabbed the Rams at 4/6 with betfair yesterday. I’m also sure Martin and Thorne will get a run out 2nd half. But Vydra is just 2 goals down on the league leading scorer. After the hatrick against Middlesbrough, his confidence to net tonight must be sky high.

Good luck with your bets tonight and I hope a few of us make a few quid.
