IT was one winner and one loser on another poor night in the Europa League where goals were at a premium.
The night started OK with Lyon thumping Everton. That landed my Betting Club bet and half the Super Single double that eventually landed when Lazio netted an injury-time winner against Nice.
Eight of the 12 early games went under 2.5 goals as did eight of the later ones so there were little chance of getting up a btts treble and I was two goals short.
On Friday Wolves should beat Fulham in the Championship and there are three FA Cup first-round ties – Notts County v Bristol Rovers, Port Vale v Oxford and Hyde v MK Dons.
In La Liga on-form Real Betis entertain Getafe and there's a tight looking contest in the Bundesliga between Eintracht Frankfurt and Werder Bremen.
Rennes face Bordeaux in Ligue One but more people will be interested in Ligue 2 including Greg.
There is also a full Jupiler league card so plenty to look at. As usual at this time of the week my focus is on Saturday but I've managed to have a quick look at the card.
Wolves, Betis and Eintracht are three teams who should win but I'm writing in some insurance and for a Super Single – remember that's just a tagline for best bet – by backing them all to avoid defeat.
I fancy Wolves fairly strongly and while they lost at QPR last weekend they hit back to win at Norwich in midweek. They've triumphed in four of their last five at Molineux and face a Fulham side nowhere near as flamboyant as last season and who are struggling against the better teams.
Real Betis have won four out of five at home in La Liga and netted 2+ in all of those matches. They should put away a Getafe side who have won once on the road but three of their five matches have ended all square.
Eintracht Frankfurt face a team who sacked their boss after starting the season without a win in 13. For the first time in their history Werder Bremen failed to take three points from any of their opening 10 league matches.
Alex Nouri has gone so Under-23 boss Florian Kohfeldt will take charge tonight. He is set to make changes and whether Bremen get an immediate bounce isn't clear – just in case I'll keep the draw on side.
If you don't fancy the SS a straight treble on Wolves, Real Betis and Eintracht pays a best 11-2 at Marathonbet.
From looking briefly at form and h2h I've picked out a Dutch goals treble – my old friends Top Oss are in there. Six of their last seven have brought up the market and they face a Fortuna side who are the Eertse league's second-highest scorers.

First match in the A league this week sees a top of the table clash between Melbourne city and Sydney. Between them theyve won 7 out of their 8 league games this season but neither side has really hit their absolute best form yet. City look more resolute this year and have been tight at the back whilst relying on their attacking threat of McCormack and kamau to grab goals and nick games. Sydney have been a lot more open at the back so far this year than they were last season but last week saw them pick up their first clean sheet of the campaign with a return to the steel of last year. Neither side is scoring massive amounts of goals, and both look as though the could be very tight at the back so I’m going for a low scorer in this one. Glenavon v Coleraine
Glenavon have been good to me this season and tomorrow’s meeting between themselves and Coleraine looks promising. It’s a top of the table clash between two sides who have been scoring well all season.
Glenavon have been reliable on the goal front having scored 37 in just 12 league games. They’ve scored 2+ in 12 of the 14 domestic games, blanking just once in a recent league cup defeat in which they rotated personnel. This followed on from their goal-frenzy pre-season form that I have noted before.
They haven’t been the tightest at the back, either. A trend that appeals is that their only clean sheets have come against the poorer sides (Ards, Ballymena, Carrick Rangers twice). Glenavon have yet to meet Linfield, but when playing the other sides in the top half, they’ve conceded (3-1 v Cliftonville, 2-2 v Glentoran, 2-3 v Crusaders). The other game against a side in the top half? The reverse v Coleraine in September, which ended 4-2.
Coleraine have been arguably more impressive. They sit top of the table and are unbeaten after 12 wins from a possible 13. Their only draw came away at Glentoran and it was the only time this season that they’ve failed to net. They have lost once this campaign to Crusaders in the league cup, going down 3-2, but again in a game that saw goals.
Defensively Coleraine are a bit tighter, conceding just 8 in the league. But they do have a habit of conceding here and there. Of course, the stat that sticks out is Glenavon’s two goals scored in the 4-2 reverse, but Coleraine have conceded on a number of occasions against mediocre opposition this season and have just one clean sheet in their last five – including conceding in midweek to bottom of the table Ballinamallard.
This is a big game for both sides and a chance for Glenavon to peg Coleraine back in the table. I can’t see past goals and I actually fancy Glenavon after Coleraine played in midweek while Glenavon had their feet up. Still, with BTTS landing in all 4 meetings this calendar year (3 seeing BTTS and Overs), I think goals from both sides are the way to go.
