I'M on a mission to wipe out the Super Single losses for October and last night's winner means I'm nearly there.

Inter and over 2.5 goals didn't land as easily as expected with a 2-1 win rather than maybe 3-0 or 3-1.

The Top Treble needed a Newcastle goal and one for Real Betis. The third leg won thanks to overs at Portimonense and they're a team to watch – I think that's 24 goals in their last four.

Well done to all the winners including Elvis Parsley and Alex on the Portuguese game and maccathred who backed Burnley not to lose.

I posted a Daily Double yesterday before it was revealed Robert Lewandowski would miss Bayern Munich's Champions League visit to Celtic. I still believe the Germans will win but there's no harm in covering most of the stake on Celtic not to lose.

I've posted a Celtic v Bayern preview and another one covering other games including Roma v Chelsea and Man United Benfica and my top tips picks.

As well as the Champions League games there are 10 English Championship matches plus Blackburn v Fleetwood in League One and Killie v Hibs in the Scottish Premiership.

So plenty to look at I've been studying form, stats and team news before picking my selections.

There were plenty of options for the Super Single and in the end I've gone for Bristol City not to lose at Fulham. City are up to fourth and their away form has been good with one defeat in seven in the Championship.

Fulham have won just once at home but drawn five so a draw is possibly the most likely outcome.

City are just under 3-1 to win which is tempting and there are several teams that look big such as Derby at Leeds, Nottm Forest at Reading and even Bolton at Sunderland.

Took 35 minutes and I was snoring like a wounded pig by then ?

Early post for the Night Owl and really like the look of this one…

    PALMEIRAS VS. CRUZEIRO (2200 KO:

It’s a great time for goal-backers in Brasil’s Serie A and B…two leagues that are fairly inconspicous for the most part but come alive in the latter stages…the great news is the bookies never seem to catch on and prices remain more than healthy.

Prime example here and been looking at this fixture for a few days now; no significant team news changes but the usual home favouritism has dictated a price from the bookies that opens up great value for an away goal seemingly without consideration of prior forn.

Can Cruzeiro score? You’re damn right they can – these two have faced off 19 times over the last 8 years…in 17 of those games both teams have netted – just shy of a 90% hit rate for BTTS!

More recently, the hosts have conceded in 80% of their last 5 with the visitors scoring in 80% of their own.

One selection for me and it’s a rare confidence rating:

    BTTS…EVENS

Looking at 13:00 KOs in Germany

Inglostadt Vs Augsburg – Inglostadt have won 5 on the bounce netting 21 times in the process. Augsburg have mixed form but have lost 2 goals in each of their last 5.

1860 Munchen Vs SpVgg – Munchen are top of the league and have won their last 3, SpVgg have lost their last 5.

    I’m going for

    Inglostadt Over 2.5 at 1/2(Skybet)

mr f, it.ll be interesting when video evidence hits our shores, as at the moment the advantage is with the punter
    which the bookies wont like.,
take the verona goal , ref dismisses call for penalty and rules state ball must go out of play before any challenges for video evidence, but betting continues ,therefore if you think that it was a penaty then you can back verona to score or penalty to be awarded
.it was only when the ref called for evidence, betting was suspended . [penatly awarded and they scored ]
if theres no penalty then you cash out for small loss or let the bet run,
but the odds are initially with the punter that a penalty will be awarded

It’s an interesting point. I didn’t watch the game last night so I can’t comment on this particular scenario. The Bundesliga games and Italian games that I have watched are the only decisions that have been overturned are when a penalty have been awarded and then cancelled after review or when a goal has been scored and then chalked off for offside, foul etc. I’ve seen so many games where a potential penalty has been waved away by the ref and then it’s never overturned. I saw one which was a stonewall penalty, not given and play carried on and wasn’t brought back. Personally I love goal line technology. It’s a quick buzz of the referee’s watch which indicates a goal. No controversy, it’s clear cut. Bringing this VAR nonsense has just reinforced my belief of how much nonsense it is. You could have two impartial friends in the pub, watch several replays of the same incident and still not come to an agreement over the decision. I’m not saying it won’t overturn a really bad decision every now and again but it kills games off.
I’ve watched games where it’s taken five mins, six mins or sometimes even longer to come to a decision and the frustrating thing about it is the referee doesn’t add it on at the end of the half.

    • Avatar of gg1a
      gg1a 7 years ago

ye it took about 5 mins to sort it out and was a farce, but time was added , but if it became part of the game all over they would have to speed up process but again it relies on ref wether to call for evidence.
maybe a rule like in tennis where you get 3 calls , a manager can do the same ,say 2 calls to the fourth official ,that has to be acted upon.then a panel watching the vid can decide, like in american football .

@craigyboy couldn’t agree more with you on the var thing and how it just be left to goal line technology and that’s it. Matter of fact not opinion. Even in the studios after games you get one pundit saying penalty or red card and the other sitting beside him says the opposite. So really who is correct? Each will say I am. Anyway I hope if and when it comes in properly it doesn’t ruin the game but I have fears that it may do so for a fair amount of people.

    • Avatar of Wato
      -wato- 7 years ago

They won’t let that happen too often if and when it does come in. If there is a chance of VAR being used they will no doubt suspend the markets until they no it’s ok and they won’t lose easy money. Could mean that games are suspended a good bit longer than they can be at present. As below I believe this VAR is rather poor and should be left alone

Two NLN games this evening and one stands out for me:

    BOSTON VS. SALFORD:

Second bottom versus second top here and Boston are on a stinking run conceding 3-2-4-0-2 goals in their last 5 games – perhaps even more tellingly though is the fact that they haven’t kept a clean sheet at home all season.

Salford are in fine fettle though – a great run sees them in a lofty position having scored 2-3-2-1-1-3-2-2-1-2-1-3-2-2 team goals in consecutive games.

I can well see that run continuing and Salford goals could be the ay too go:

    SALFORD OVER 1.5 TGS…8/11

    SALFORD OVER 2.5 TGS…12/5

    Afternoon gents

It’s quite an uninspiring Tueaday night card but enough to warrant putting something up

    Kilmarnock v Hibs

Steve Clark has to be a happy man, been in charge for two games, away at Celtic and Rangers and they managed two 1-1 draws which is pretty impressive ! It’s home turf tonight ( well, AstroTurf) and their home form over Recent seasons has been brutal – they welcome a Hibs side who edged out Motherwell 1-0 on Saturday. A victory here see them go 3rd.

It corners though I’m interested in – Hibs racked up another 8 corners on Saturday after managing 11 against Hearts . There dominance , possession and style of play result in corners. Can’t find team corners yet so going for match corners

Back over 10 match corners 5/6 (Bet365) (NAP)

I like the look of the corners bet greg, but sadly there is no market available on this match in betfair. Also noted, betfair don’t allow bets on the result + corners in the same match as part of an acca unless you take an ” odds on that boost “, but again, they won’t let you drop that boost into an acca. I will keep an eye on this match though.

Looking at the tie tonight regards Leeds V Derby, to the neutrals – nothing special, but if you’re a fan of either, this tie is a juicy one with neither side having a great deal of anything nice to say about one another.

Leeds made a terrific start to this campaign and early on set themselves up as the leagues front runners but one the back of 3 straight Leeds wins that took them to mid September, they’ve followed that up with LWLLLWL + a 3 nil loss in the cup to Leicester. Leeds only result that i’m impressed with on current form is the 3 nil they handed to Bristol away from home just 8 days ago.
Derby mauled Hull 5 nil on the 8th September and confidence was running high, we then left Bristol with one almighty slap down just 8 days later losing 4-1. It beggars belief at how we could play like that against Hull then implode against a Bristol team that most championship sides really should be beating.
The Rams have steadied the ship and backed up that with Draws against Birmingham/Cardiff/Brentford ( H/A/A ) – a poor result against Birmingham yet we never got a foothold in that match, followed up by two tough earned draws away to Cardiff and a resolute Brentford ( we get travel sick when we head to the bright lights of London ). We then follow that up with impressive wins against Forest ( H ), Sheff Wed ( H ), and a 2-1 win away to Norwich. 3 tough big games and 3 wins.
Derby are in their historical purple patch ( October/November ). I think there is no better time or place to play Leeds as Derby’s form has been lifted, Leeds seems to be slipping. We’re 11/5 for the Rams win with betfair and Leeds are 29/20 for the home win. I just don’t think Leeds are good value for it.

Since Derby took Joe Ledley on loan, our midfield pairing with Huddlestone has reaped rewards, George Thorne keeps grabbing tiny slices of cameo’s and still Chris Martin isn’t getting a start. Vydra was taken off around 50 mins in against Norwich because he wasn’t having a great game. A couple of players need a goal – Lawrence/Russell/Martin to settle them down.

I’ve taken a look at the ref and also the corners markets. Although Derby made a sort-of contribution to the corners count, it was Norwich last time out that came flying out of the blocks on them , i’m expecting a similar pattern in this game but think Leeds could end up with a minimum of 5 or 6 corners, they’ll probably even cover a -1 corners handicap.
On the cards front, I’ve steered you guys clear of that market upto and including the Norwich match. Suggesting the cards will stay in the pocket. That was true right up until the last 25 mins of the match and then there was a flurry.

Normally I would be all over a Derby win/overs corners/overs card bet, but the stingy bookies keep drawing the line sooo damn high on the cards market and then its been an anti-climax. I think the last time this match featured, the cards line was at 5.5 cards. I think Derby got 1 card in the match and Leeds never got any.

Stephen Hooper refs tonight, he averages around 1 home card and just under 2 to the away side, overall, he’s about mid-table with cards dished out per match at around 3.7cards. I also think he’s handed out just 2 reds in 30 matches.

The ref stats don’t invigorate any confidence, so I shall steer clear. I think Derby are good enough as a team and with current form to take all 3 points and I think 11/5 with betfair is an early Christmas gift, given also that Leeds form has slipped. BUT if you wanna play it safe, take the 4/7 double chance on the Rams with betfair.

Good luck folks, I hope to be around near 7pm with team news.

I never got back in time for team news. Apologies, anyway we swapped out Vydra and Nugent for Sam Winnall and Martin.
Leeds mugged a loose ball off Huddlestone on 7 mins and scored from it. It took Leeds until the 55th minute to muster up a 2nd shot at goal. They break on you quick but in general, Leeds have been a bit ” no plan b’ “. Derby have pushed all match and dominated possession but we took till the last 20 mins to come alive. Forsyth broke down the wing and crossed to give Sam Winnall a tap in for 1-1 on 72 mins.
8 minutes later Winnall converts from the spot to seal a 2-1 Ram raid @ 11/5. I think it finished 5-8 on corners , 2 a piece on cards and 58% possession to derby.
Not a pretty game, but 4 tough games on the bounce – 2 on the road and we’ve 12 points from them. We’ve marched into the top 6 and now the gaffer has one almighty headache. Nugent/Vydra or Winnall/Martin up front.. I love dilemmas like that.

Anyway, as I’ve said this past few weeks.

      The colour is PURPLE !!

Putting a few eggs in two specific baskets tonight to see if I can end the month on a high.

Bayern have been absolutely racking up the corners of late (43 in 3 Champions League games, 36 in their last 4 league games). I feel that, with their injuries, they might find their way to goal a little tougher. Still, they are a class apart and should dominate possession and create chances. Hopefully that leads to the corner trend continuing.

Bwin coming up with a very fair price, too.

    Bayern Munich O6.5 Corners @ 19/20 (Bwin)
    _____________________________________

Big enough price for me to back the big names, this. Bayern should find a way to win despite their noted injury problems. Juventus, too, should avoid defeat having only lost to Lazio and Barcelona this season.

    Bayern Munich [Win]
    Juventus [Double Chance]

    Double @ 8/11 (Unibet)
    ____________________

    Half Stake:

Juventus weren’t entirely convincing against Sporting in the reverse but they have been banging the goals in away from home this season. I fancy them to get something out of the game at a fair price and they too pick up corners regularly. Slightly bigger risk on the corner front are Roma, but I fancy them to cause Chelsea problems after resting some bigger names midweek. Chelsea looked a lot better defensively at Bournemouth but this is a much tougher test. Even if Kante does return, I fancy Roma to bag one.

Juventus To Score and 4+ Team Corners
Roma To Score and 4+ Team Corners

    Double @ 23/20 (Sky Bet)

I can’t for the life of me work out Bayern Munich U19s price against Celtic U19. Bayern beat Celtic 6-2 last time out and are generally in great form!! The only thing I can think is that a few of the youth players have been called into the first team?

    • Avatar of Mervin

Whilst I didn’t tip this, it landed with Bayern U19 scoring in the 94th minute to bring in a nice over 3/1 double with Ajax U19

Hi gents. Quick from from the National League tonight. Second placed Salford head to Boston who are second from bottom and have lost four of their last five games. Salford have the second best away record in the league and if they want promotion they need to win their games against these sides home or away.

Salford despite their good form away from home have conceded in in four of their last five away games, with Boston only failing to score at home once.

All well and good @clydeman but knowing you’re sat downstairs watching the footy is an open invitation round here for folk to burgle the rest of your house.

If you’re not vigilant you’ll have three miscreants running round your bedroom with your VHS player under one arm and your missus’ knickers on their heads.
