THE Gary Player Course at the DLF Golf and Country Club, New Delhi, is the host of this week’s Hero Indian Open.
It's a par 72, 7654-yard track and was fully opened in 2015 and joins the Arnold Palmer course on the development. A feature is two large lakes and large undulating greens. The front nine has an island green at the third and the closing holes and it's built around a large quarry. Distance off the tee and GIR could be important.
Anirban Lahiri is a worthy favourite here but the single figures being offered is putting me off. However, I did say that about Dustin Johnson last week!
While watching my 14-1 tip Dean Burmester win at the Tshwane Open last Sunday I also witnessed American Peter Uihlein play some brilliant golf in his last two rounds (65, 66) to finish fourth. He’s had a bit of an up and down season but has finished T7 in the SA Open and T5 in the Dubai Desert.
It’s hard to believe he hasn’t won the European Tour since the Madeira Open in 2013. Think it’s time he proved how good he really is. Hits the ball well over 300 yards and has GIR stat of 67.9%.
WIth three wins on the European Tour and two on the Asian Tour Kiradech Aphibarnrat is one of the most talented rising stars from Asia. He won his first tournament in 2011 at the SAIL Open in India and is no stranger to the country.
Hhe has had two top 10s (in the Desert Swing) from five and looks a good bet here. Didn’t manage a win last year but won twice in 2015. Hits justs under 300 yards and has a GIR stat of 70.24 which has improved on previous years.

Ace,
Well done for Burmester last weekend, agree with you about Aphibarnat, hope the golfer side of him turns up, had to give B.Rumford another chance after he came up with goods in the Super Six couple of weeks ago.
G.Mulroy disappeared over the horizon last week, backwards !!
A.Jutanugarn finished second, Snedeker came with a run but finished just outside the top five, back to reality.
