FOR the second day running a 3pts Top Treble gave me a profit.

I went with Red Bull Leipzig and Nice to lose and Villarreal to win.

The 5-2 success means I'm back in the black for the September accumulators but it's a different story with the Super Singles.

My two big prices – a red card at Aberdeen and Mauro Icardi to score first – were 1pt losers on Sunday. At least my sending-off tip and the bookings stats I posted about referee John Beaton encouraged some to back the cards including harrybaines.

Bet of the Day won and my challenge bet also won so it wasn't too bad a Sunday.

With five days to go in September I'll need to land some crackers to wipe out the Super Singles losses but I'm not giving up hope.

Monday's fairly quiet though with Burnley v Watford in the Premier League, Alaves v Granada in La Liga and Crotone v Atalanta and Cagliari v Sampdoria in Serie A the highlights.

I've taken a closer look at all of the games and while Watford can win I wonder how they'll react to being favourites at a ground where the home side don't concede any.

Watford tempted me but I'm leaving this alone in terms of picking a winner. However, as I need some Super Single results I'm willing to risk 1pt on Troy Deeney to score first.

It was a toss-up between Deeney and Odion Ighalo but Deeney has netted in last two outings and in three out of five games against Burnley. Also he takes the penalties.

Alaves have been mentioned a lot on the site and strangely Barcelona away has been their only win. They've drawn both home games 0-0 and while they should be looking to see off Granada there is no doubt they lack a goalscorer and prefer to play on the counter.

Both Italian games are tough to call and two draws wouldn't be a massive surprise.

So my only bet today is a goals treble starting with both to score at Sundsvall v Hacken. Hacken's last eight in all competitions have saw both scoring and it's five out of seven for Sundsvall.

Add Jong Ajax to score 2+ at home to Top Oss. They've netted 14 in their three home league games.

Complete the treble with Gothenburg to score 2+ at home Osterund as they've done in seven out of eight.

    IFK Goteborg vs Ostersunds

Goteborg have maintained a consistent winning record at home throughout the season losing only once to the pace setters Malmo in a 1-0 defeat. They have won there last 7 at home averaging more than 2 team goals a match whilst Ostersunds have conceded an average of 2 goals a game in there 11 away fixtures. Ostersunds have a tendency to struggle against the bigger sides away from home shipping 3 to Hacken, Noorkoping in recent months and 2 to Kalmar in there latest game. They have a daunting fixture list coming up with away trips to AIK and Malmo coming up and I expect things to go downhill for them from here. Confidently backing Goteborg to get at least two in this one.

Apologies for my lack of input on Derby’s previous game, my life kinda got stacked up all around the lead-up to the match and more personal pressing matters needed to be put first instead of my pre-match summary.

Whilst I know I have some time spare, i’ll try to share my thoughts on the weekends implosion and the pending away trip to Cardiff tomorrow.

Saturday saw Derby notch their ” 3rd ” league goal of the season – their first at home too. The game was awkward and kind-of stuck in the mud right up until we got the opener, then the game seemed to come alive. Sadly though in 5 crazy minutes, we got the opener, then conceded 2 !!
Unbelievably, we apparently had the 3rd tightest home defence in the league going into that game – but stats like that don’t count for much if the rest of your team can’t play a 4-4-2. Before that 2-1 home defeat, we actually had quite an impressive record of only losing once in our last 37 matches from a leading position. So that record has been busted then !! We are now the not so proud holder of the lowest scoring team in all 4 tiers of football. Also worth mentioning that Blackburn hit the post from a Keogh created penalty – the rebound was skewed wide but wouldn’t of counted if it bust the net because the ball has to be touched by a 2nd player before the taker has a 2nd bash at it.
Post match, the gaffer has pointed at the players not doing what is expected of him, yet I fear that the problem with the team is that A.) they can’t/won’t play for him, B.) we’ve been so used to 4-3-3 that the majority of players know, they don’t know how to play any other way, and C.) Martin gone to Fulham on loan all season for a fee, he’s brought in a pair of players who can play up front together but lack the service from midfield because the whole team is still set up for 4-3-3 with a pair of wing-backs.
It’s obvious that he’s trying to get us out of this rut but this plan B’ isn’t working. Keogh conceded the penalty, he made the mistake for one of their goals too – why has he just got a 3 year new deal???? He’s our team captain but is clueless. Maybe they could leave him outside the stadium and allocate him a burger van or something. Darren Bent getting match time??? I wouldn’t even have him on the bench, let alone in the starting 11. Just how lazy does a player have to be before the boss realises he’s crap??? ( wonder if I pitch up at Cardiff and offer my services with my own boots, I might get a game ?? ).
Post match, the radio phone in was rife with everyone saying the same 2 things. The 4-4-2 isn’t working – go back to 4-3-3 AND Pearson is on borrowed time. 1 win, 3 draws, 6 losses from 9 matches and 3rd from bottom. Well done, we’ve gone from a free-scoring top 6 side to a team full of high transfer fee, high earning players impersonating a bunch of footballers ). OXO do three flavours, Beef stock, Chicken stock and laughing stock – Derby County.

I suspect the boss has tried to rebuild his own squad by bringing in new faces and forcing through changes, but they’re not working. We now have to go to South Wales where historically, ( ignoring the last few season’s ) has been a bit like us travelling to the North-west or playing any side inside the M25.
Cardiff are much like Blackburn and Derby – in amongst the mix for the trapdoor, but what bewilders me is how can we have such a diverse squad and not be able to put it together on the pitch?? The manager has to take the blame ( a bullet would be kinder ). Before a ball was kicked on Saturday, I’d of said Derby not to lose and under 2.5 tmg’s. Thankfully for the benefit of the site, I was unable to post my pre-match thoughts.

This match is another pin the tail on the donkey. We’re not scoring, we concede goals, we’re not really pitching in with the corners count either and the Yellow card tally is quite a way down on what we usually get from the rams.
This could/should be quite evenly matched, but score-line, I have no idea, it could go either way. ( I’m almost ashamed to say this being a die-hard Derby fan, but I hope we lose ) – it might be the straw that breaks the camels back and we might get a manager who actually knows how to manage. – The first thing I’d do is pay Fulham their loan fee back, recall Martin and go 4-3-3. The 3rd thing I’d do is shred Keogh and Bent’s contracts – we’ve got better players than them.

I think as per most matches this past few months, I’d expect the opposition to win the corners race, anything else I’d avoid because Derby are too poor to make the call. If anyone has access to a clairvoyant, please ask them to contact Doris Stokes from the grave and ask her to make a prediction. Failing that, can we please start a petition to get Mike Bassett in the hot seat.

Afternoon game worth a look but small stakes a must…

DPMM FC VS. YOUNG LIONS (13.15 KO):

Over to Singapore here and I’m looking for a first half smash n grab on the goals front before I sling my hook for the second ’45.

DPMM huge favourites and have seen 4-3-3-2-3-2 mgs in their last 6 but in only 1 of these have they kept a clean sheet.

Young Lions sit bottom with 2-7-2-4-4-2 mgs in their own last 6 in which they have netted in half of the games.

H2Hs make for interesting reading – in 6 out of the last 7, BTTS have scored with an average of just under 4 goals per game.

    2 selections:

    OVER 1.5 FHGS…19/20

    OVER 2.5 FHGS…3/1

Additionaly, it may pay to keep a Young Lions goal on-side and BTTS is 5/6

    Burnley v Watford
    Watford over 1.5TG
    29/20

Burnley like to keep it tight especially at home where they haven’t conceded more than one goal in any of their home games tonight.
However, Watford are a team that just keep on giving. They haven’t failed to net in any Premier League games this season and seem to be improving as a side week in, week out. They’ve certainly surprised me.
I certainly think Burnley are capable of scoring themselves and I feel that this could turn into an unexpected classic and at odds of 29/20 to net two I simply cannot ignore the generous price on offer especially when you consider they’ve put seven away in their last two games.
I’ve also had my free £5 SkyBet Club wagered on Watford to win and over 3.5 match goals at odds of 10/1.

    • Mr Fixit 8 years ago

I want to take Watford to win but as you say Burnley tough to beat at home and will be a close game.

    • dc john boy 8 years ago

      Will be on this Craigyboy

As you said Burnley don’t give concede many at home but surely Watford have the fire power to score at least 2

    • craigyboy 8 years ago

They’ll certainly get chances. Burnley will point to the clean sheet against Liverpool but on another day the visitors would have had five or six.
I reckon Burnley will have a go at Watford which could also play into Watford’s hands.

    Hi guy’s

Back with a tip from the Danish super liga.

    Silkeborg vs Aab.

At first glance you would put this down as a win for the away team, who are trying hard to keep in touching distance of the top 3.

But to today they ate in for a hard game against an improving Silkeborg team. Add the the fact that Aab are missing 3 first teamer’s including their Captain the experienced Würtz through suspension.

I see an upset coming here in a low scoring affair.

Worth noting the ever so hopeful youngster Helinus is likely to start up front for Silkeborg playing against the team that have loaned him out. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get a bit of revenge on his current employer’s ?

    Bets to consider

    Silkeborg to Win.

    UNION BERLIN over 1.5 TGS . 4/5.

SUMMARY: UNION’S enforced managerial change doesn’t appear to of disrupted on field performances and they’ve turned home turf into somewhat of a fortress . The last time they tasted defeat was nigh on 12 months ago! They’ve started the season very well and the strikers have been well and truly amongst the goals. This evening they entertain St Pauli who have had a mediocre start to their campaign. They haven’t conceded ship loads of goals but nevertheless haven’t managed a clean sheet thus far! Notably they lost to early pacesetters Eintracht and Stuttgart, conceding two in each respectively . Hoping Union have enough fire power to bring home the bacon!

Mr Fixit I’ve picked out a decent bet which you may consider for your super single tomorrow.

    Sporting Lisbon vs Legia Warsaw

Das Bost is a stand out price of 9/2 for First Goalscorer and 11/10 anytime with Bet365. The goal machine has scored 4 goals in his past 3 matches and is excellent value to find the scoresheet at home. Bet365 are way bigger than the rest of the market so the price is likely to be cut by tonight/early morning.

Winterthur seem to have found their shooting boots last few games and will hopefully continue that tonight.
    Winterthur 6/5.

    Night Owl:

ARSENAL VS. GIMNASIA LA PLATA (23.00 KO):

I’ve had a good look at this one but no time to put reasoning/stats, etc up.

In short, I think it’ll be a low scorer but have a sneaky feeling GLP will come out on top.

Both a little risky so keep stakes sensible if having a pop:

    GLP OVER 1.5 TGS…21/10

    GLP -1 H/CAP…5/1

Best of luck all on a late one ?
