I KNEW it was a tough card on Saturday and that's how it turned out.
There was less emphasis on WDW bets but even picking goals winners wasn't easy with Leicester and St Johnstone keeping their first clean sheets of the season and even Morecambe failing to score.
My goals bets were in general stats based and stats went out of the window. I fared better with aways (3 out of 4) and draws (2 out of 4) but overall it was a disappointing day.
Well done to those who posted winners including Greg Browning who had a a decent day and Scott Allott who landed a 9-2 btts treble thanks to Leverkusen v Stuttgart, Lorient v Rennes and Roda v Excelsior. Desmond was unlucky with his 2+ double – Falkirk scoring five but Wigan netting just one.
It's certainly a Super Sunday in the Premier League with Man Utd v Man City, Sunderland v Newcastle, Liverpool v Southampton and Bournemouth v Spurs.
I'm on United to edge out City but both to score is the preferable bet as anything goes in derbies. The one at Sunderland is even tougher to call and it doesn't get any easier with the matches at Anfield and Dean Court.
It's a tough Premier League Anfield debut for Jurgen Klopp and Southampton can at least avoid defeat. Spurs can win at Bournemouth but the home side have been better at home than on the road so could nick a point against a side unbeaten since losing on the first day of the season.
My bets bets for the four games – Man Utd v Man City btts (11-10, Betway), Sunderland v Newcastle under 2.5 goals (17-20, betfair), Southampton draw no bet (13-8, bet365, Betfred) and Spurs not to lose (1-3, bet365).
I don't know how this will go down and I'm not sure if I've done it before but the Super Single is a confident treble starting with Spurs not to lose.
I'm adding Celtic -1AH against Dundee United and Rangers at St Mirren. Celtic were dire against Molde in the Europa League in midweek but should bounce back against a side they've beaten in 10 out of 11 at home – scoring 39 goals.
Rangers have been finding it tougher recently but go for 11 league wins out of 11 at a St Mirren side who haven't won at home this season. All but two of their points have come on the road.
Saints I believe have conceded a penalty in every home game but one while Rangers have been awarded more than anyone in the country. A penalty in the game is 11-4 at William Hill.
I've posted a separate article covering the goals treble and I've decided to up a Top Treble on tonight's games. It starts with on-form and goal-hungry Napoli at Chievo and I reckon PSG will be too good for St Etienne. Complete the treble with Atletico Madrid at home to a Valencia side who are unbeaten at home but struggling on the road.

Not necessarily a stone cold tip but a bet I fancy tomorrow is Lee Cattermole to be booked @ EVS @ PP. Leads the Sunderland midfield in bookings with 3 (2 in his last 3). Danger area for Newcastle is obviously the Dutch international Wijnaldum who will like occupy somewhere in midfield or the number 10 with his goal scoring form. Providing he starts, if I had to plan a scenario I can see Newcastle getting on the counter like they did against Norwich, and if that’s the case then I can see Cattermole wiping someone out and taking one for the team. Either that or a two footed dropkick :) Jack Colback is Newcastle’ highest disciplinary receiver wit 4 and has been booked in the last two derbies. Obviously this should be a heated affair and Robert Madley will referee the tie. At only 30 years old he isn’t too shy to get the cards out having dished out 7 at Stamford Bridge when Southampton beat Chelsea. Be interesting to see how he handles it. After Derby’s toothless display midweek, the boss made 1 change. He kept faith with Butterfield who by all accounts had a good game, but he put Warnock in left back straight back to the bench in favour of Forsyth.
I listened to the commentary and it seemed very one sided, very much different to the previous game and it all seemed to start with Forsyth running down the left side. The creativity was there, the flair and the will to win was evident.
Maybe there was a bit of fatigue against Blackburn, maybe also because they’re a better team than Huddersfield, but the whole tempo and urgency was lifted by Forsyth’s presence. The whole teams performance was of a much more fluent standard than midweek.
Unbeaten in 8 is now top 6 consistency and with this run in of a quick succession of games, I believe if the side is managed properly with 2 or 3 players swapped out around the 60 minute mark, we could well be breathing down the neck of Brighton come mid November.
Brighton have a similar level of form to Derby but of late, they have started dropping points here and there against sides that they really should be beating.
Martin added another to his tally today to take him to 8, the BTTS came in too and Bryson is not far off coming back from injury.
I pointed out late last night to be cautious of the high level of draws in the championship, 3 this weekend seems about right. But Preston suddenly wanting to fight for the right to stay in this league possibly caught a few people out. Its all very tight in the top 8.

I’m quite surprised at the odds of some of the goalscorers for this game. James Tavernier has been scoring many goals for Rangers. He is 8/1 for first goalscorer and 3/1 anytime. It’s quite poor odds for a defender but since he’s joint 2nd top goalscorer for Rangers behind Waghorn, you can’t really argue. That’s exactly what’s got me scratching my head. Tavernier is joint 2nd top with Lee Wallace who also has 5 goals yet Wallace represents a much better price. He’s 9/1 for first goalscorer with Paddy Power and 13/5 anytime. Rubbish prices right? What about the 25/1 and 9/1 on offer from Betfred then? No idea what Betfred is thinking about. These prices are far too big and I hope this one pays off.

Just read an interesting stat on ht scores. The 0-0, 1-0,1-1 and 0-1 at halftime account for 77% of all ht results. Maybe its possible to make a few quid from that.
Also, you never typically have a team ” throw the kitchen sink at the opposition ” in the first half unless its the absolute underdog; I suspect its because the better teams have better facilities/training/medical facilities and players on the bench that can and will change the game in the 2nd half.
Statistically, there are always more goals in the 2nd half.

As a Dundee United fan today’s game against Celtic will be soul destroying to watch. I know that goals seem to be on the cards for Manchester derby but I think that this game is finely balanced and maybe we can see less than 2.5 goals which is evens.
Exactly 50% of Man United home games have been under 2.5 goals and exactly 50% of Man City away games have been under 2.5 goals. It seems finely balanced to me. I think both teams will not want to give anything away and after myself being disappointed by many games going under which had overs written all over I will be sticking my neck out on Manchester derby being under 2.5 goals at EVENS.
Sanjay- I have been looking at this game and while their respective home/away stacks up to what you say, the head to heads do not. Either team could bring up over 2.5 team goals let alone both together. If City go for it I fancy it to be a pretty open game with chances at both ends. I am not sure whether I want to bet on the game or not but if I did I’m leaning on the overs since both teams definitely have a goal in them. I was also looking at the games posted by Greg prior to seeing his post. This is another game that’s tough to call. I quite like Southampton to get something at Anfield as the have lost just once away from home. I like both teams to score in this one. Liverpool had Benteke and Firmino on the bench in midweek whilst Southampton have goals in them in Pelle, Tadic and Mane. Both to score is 5/6 Coral.
In the goal scorer market the better value lies with the away side scoring and any of the 3 I mentioned above could be in with a shout. As I am on BTTS I will be looking for a bit of value for a small stakes and the player I want to be with here is Mane. I know that goals seem to be on the cards for Manchester derby but I think that this game is finely balanced and maybe we can see less than 2.5 goals which is evens.
Exactly 50% of Man United home games have been under 2.5 goals and exactly 50% of Man City away games have been under 2.5 goals. It seems finely balanced to me. As a Dundee United fan today’s game against Celtic will be soul destroying to watch. You’ve probably gathered, I follow a bit of SA football and I have to say, Mexico has been my favourite stomping ground this year.
Not just for betting – the quality of football I have seen from some teams is head and shoulders above much of the sub-continental countries.
I watched Puebla play last week and the way they knocked the ball about was scary…they went straight in the notebook and form looks good to boot.
Had I not watched how well they functioned as a team, I wouldn’t give it a second glance given Leon’s superior standing but I’ll chance my arm on this one.

I fancy Orlando to get back into this, watched the 1st half and Philly had a penalty which could have been avoided. Apart from that a pretty even game. Orlando should be the more motivated team as they still had a small chance of reaching the playoffs whereas Philadelphia have nothing to play for. Unfortunately Orlando will not be as motivated if they see the half time score as New England are beating New York City 2-0 as that all but ends Orlando’s playoff hopes. So i’m only going for Orlando on the Asian Handicap due to this. So basically if Orlando draw or win, I win… if Philly win by 1 goal only stake refunded.
