MAR 10: THE VOICE OF VALUE’S CHELTENHAM TIPS – ARKLE CHASE

CheltenhamTotesport

THE Voice of Value is an amateur tipster with a love for racing and jumps in particular. He caught the bug at an early age when his grandfather had a share in a winning chaser and his annual Grand National and Cheltenham guides have been well received our the past few years.

We’re delighted to have him aboard and here is the second of his detailed day-one write-ups and tips for the greatest show on turf.

Racing Post Arkle Chase

–  2.05 p.m.

– 2miles

– For ‘novice’ chasers – 5 year olds and upwards, usually have had some hurdling experience

This one is usually a very competitive race with the best new chasers of the season fighting it out.  They can go at some pace and the jumping isn’t always quite what it should be give that they are still finding their way over fences so expect some thrills and spills.

The run-up to the race has been dominated by Un De Sceaux with many experts of the opinion that if he turns up and jumps the fences then he wins.  That may well be the case but he has fallen once this season (first run over fences) and his form is almost all on soft or heavy ground so I will not be having a bet at 4-7 thanks very much.  The value in this race probably lies in trying to find one that will get a place.

It should be a fascinating race to watch no matter who wins.  Keep an eye on the way that Un De sceaux attacks the fences – he takes a bit of a gamble with some of them but it can be a real joy to watch.

Each-way Selection: Three Kingdoms – 20-1 (totesport)

Three Kingdoms hasn’t pulled up any trees in his races over fences this season compared to some others but he has been consistent, winning three and losing the other by half a length to Vibrato Valtat.  I think Vibrato is a cracking horse and I actually wouldn’t put anyone off backing him each way against Un De Sceaux but now that he is only 5-1 I think Three Kingdoms might represent a bit of value at small stakes.  We also have the added bonus of the champ AP McCoy in the saddle so if the horse has any sort of chance you can be sure that McCoy will get the best out of him. This isn’t a bet to go daft on though.

One other thing to note for this race – Vautour has great form and you might wonder why he can be backed at 10-1 and the reason for that is that he more than likely will be running in the JLT Novices Chase rather than this race so be careful with that.

Betting suggestion:

Three Kingdoms – 0.5 pts each way.
