IF only … I wonder how many times I've said. This time it's if only bookies hadn't cut Stranraer from 6-4 to 5-4.
Stranraer were my Super Single in Saturday's Daily Record and as I said yesterday I only changed on the site to Blackpool draw no bet after a fairly dramatic price drop.
That means I finish a rollercoaster February with a -6pts total – not what I want but not a disaster when you consider 25 bets have been posted. After losses two months running I'm trying an experiment on goals bets v W-D-W bets.
It should be easier to picks goals winners and I'll be looking at markets such as both to score, team goals and over/under match goals. My staking plan allows me 10pts a day but the stake on both singles won't always be the same although neither will be much under evens at worst.
While my Super Singles have been disappointing in the past week it's been a different story with the trebles and a Top Treble of Man Utd, Hearts -1 and Airdrie paid 5-2 and made it seven winners in the past week.
Daily Record readers would have been happier than site visitors today as my Super Single, Top Treble and first scorer single Wolves' Bakary Sako at 8-1 – landed. Sometimes it's the other way round.
I'm hoping for a Super Sunday with my new two Super Singles – and watch out tomorrrow for a new betting challenge everyone can play.
For my Top Treble I'm starting with Valencia at home to Real Sociedad. There are some interesting stats surrounding this game with Real winning on their last three visits to the Mestalla but under Davie Moyes or the previous boss have failed to win on the road this season.
In fact against sides not currently in the bottom six the Basques record away is drawn one, lost five. On the other hand Valencia have won and only lost one of 12 at home and scored three or more in eight of their 10 victories. Back Valencia at 8-13 with firms such as Betfred.
Next take Real Madrid to beat Villarreal by two or more at the Bernabeu as they have in the last four seasons – 4-2, 3-0, 4-2 and 6-2.
I like Villarreal but they are always stronger at home and also played in the Europa League on Thursday, notching a fine win away to Red Bull Salzburg while Real had a free midweek.
Villarreal have lost their last eight matches away to Real and Barca and are weakened by the loss of captain Bruno Soriano.
Complete the treble in Portugal with Porto to beat Sporting. Porto have won nine out of 11 at home and tackle a Sporting side with just two wins in seven and who looked fairly tepid in drawing 0-0 with Wolfsburg to crash out of the Europa League on Thursday.
Porto must win to stay in touch with leaders Benfica. They should be the fresher of the two and have won the last five league meetings at home to Sporting.
My Super Single is Montpellier at home to Nice with virtually all the stats in the home side's favour. Nice have won only one of the 11 meetings with Montpellier since the home side returned to the top flight in 2009.
Montpellier are in good form too having lost only one of their last nine league games while Nice have failed to score in their last four although three of them have finished 0-0. I was pleasantly surprised to see Montpellier at over evens.

Jeezy, did you not see what I said? The Daily Record deadline is much earlier than the site one (in fact I don’t have a site one). I picked Stranraer for the paper but when I went to do top tips for the site it was 5-4 from 6-4 so put them in the homes. The two singles are quite often different but they never clash. It’s nothing to do with faith – just logistics.
Mr F, I see you have tipped a draw on your other thread, would Spurs double chance not tempt you at just over evens? The concern would be Spurs partaking in European affairs mid week, but if spurs bring there A game they should definitely be in with a chance to either nick the game or take it to extra time. Chelsea may just be on fire from the start and win comfortably but alas this is football. No Matic for Chelsea will surely be a big miss

An interesting stat I noticed is Cesena’s only clean sheet of the season came in the opening day of the season at home to struggling Parma. They have conceded in their last 23 games and scored in 17 of those. They’ve only failed to score in two home games this season, and their last 5 home games have totalled 22 goals. In that run they have scored against Fiorentina and Napoli, and put 2 past Torino, Lazio and Juventus.
Udinese’s last 6 away from home have seen both score and both games between the sides this season would have seen this bet come in.
Montpellier to Win (23/20)
Montpellier have won this fixture the last 5 times they have played at home and the only time they have lost to Nice at home was in 1995. They have won 7 of their 12 home games this season and while Nice have been generally pretty solid away from home this season I think the H2H record plays a role in this match and Montpellier should edge it.

Liverpool face Man City after both suffered setbacks in midweek. I think City may edge this one at 7/5 various but I am on them to score O1.5g. They have scored at least two goals in their last seven meetings with Liverpool and scored twice on each of their last three trips to Anfield. Man city haven’t won at Anfield since 2003, however I will take them to keep up their scoring record at 11/10
The other game sees Arsenal take on Everton and I cant see Everton ending their 17 game unbeaten run against the gunners. Everton have lost 6 of their last 7 away games, and only won once after a Europa league game, that was against Burnley. Everton have scored in 5 of their last 6 meetings against Arsenal and in 4 out their last trips to Arsenal. Both teams to score is 10/11 at Betway.

This is a big game in la liga but I think it looks a game good for goals, with Sevilla scoring for fun recently in La Liga and in Europa league football. These two sides usually deliver a good open attacking game and I can see that happening again tonight.
Five out the last six meetings in this fixture as seen both team score and it is 10/11 various. Sevilla have conceded two goals in five out their last six league games, while Madrid have scored at least two in five out their last six matches.
It is 5/4 for over O2.5 match goals at Sporting bet, Sevilla last six games have seen this bet come in and, at the odds it is well worth taking a punt on, in what I hope will be an open game.
Regulars know I normally back Carlos Bacca, the Columbian has scored 3 in his last 4 games and he has scored 7 goals in 12 appearances at home and has 14 goals this season. If it is an open game then the 23/10 anytime at Ladbrokes looks a very good price for this prolific striker.

A small profit of 1.7pts (from 10 staked) on yesterday’s A-league tips. Today’s match sees Melbourne Victory play Wellington. There were lots of bets that I was tempted by such as Melbourne 02.5, HT/FT and 03.5 but in the end I think the best bet is Melbourne Victory -1AH.
In their 8 home matches this season, Melbourne have won 7 and drawn 1. In 4 of the matches the -1AH would have won and in 3 others the stake would have been returned. Since the January break, Melbourne have been in fine form and are unbeaten in last 4 scoring 3 goals in each of the last 3 games. Wellington were on a great run before the break but since then they have not won in the last 4 and have been disappointing. The same fixture earlier in the season ended 2-0 to Melbourne.

DelC, if the weather’s really bad it has to be taken into account. For me wind affects games worse than anything. Teams can play in rain and if the pitch is too bed it will be called off. Not enough games are stopped due to high winds.

Sometimes it does not pan out tony but if u read the small write up on the pick then it really did look a not bad choice due to the results blackpool managed last 2 or 3 DNB as well so not that bad @ 6/4 unfortunately did not come in.

Tony, one problem is Celtic (and Rangers when they get sorted out) are too big for Scottish football but they are Scottish clubs so they’re stuck where they are unless rules change. It’s not other clubs’ fault that wherever you live 90 per cent of people support Celtic or Rangers. If everyone supported their local team it would be a much more level playing field.

That’s not really true tony. Attendances are up with aberdeen, dundee utd etc and hearts to an extent. Scottish clubs are living within their means and some are debt free some are turning a profit. Remember at the start of the season people were saying that the championship was going to be the most competitive league in britain? Probably the least competetive league in europe with hearts running away with it. I think they were 4-1 to win it at the start of the season. As has been said, you can only beat what’s put in front of you and celtic are doing that. Paying the most in wages doesn’t guarantee you success. Look at the team who have the second highest wages in scotland are doing…
