FOR the second night running I went for a draw no bet tip on the Champions League and this time the bet was void.
On Tuesday Vardar did the business but last night the stake was returned when Nice were held at home to Ajax.
Elsewhere it was a case of near misses. Ludogerets failing to net beat the 15-2 both to score treble and Celtic bombed the Top Treble as they were held 0-0 at home to Rosenborg.
I still expect the Scots to battle through but they might need Leigh Griffiths fit as Moussa Dembele has been ruled out until September. Dundalk forced a 1-1 draw in Trondheim a couple of weeks ago and Celtic should be able to at least match that.
Thursday is all about the Europa League and I've posted a preview covering the Aberdeen and Everton games.
There are some big names in action at this early stage and it is tempting to back them all in an accumulator – the likes of AC Milan, Marseille, Bordeaux, Athletic Bilbao, Freiburg, Zenit and PSV.
With the league season yet to start this stage can be a banana skin as sides search for match fitness so there's every chance one will fail to win.

I've put up some thoughts about Everton and while it's their first competitive game a sell-out crowd at Goodison and the return of Wayne Rooney plus other top-class signings can see them cover the -2 handicap and that's the Super Single.
Elsewhere England should beat Portugal to qualify for the last eight of the women's Euros with a 100 per cent record. Scotland need an England win combined with a two-goal victory over Spain but after defeats to England and Portugal that doesn't look on. An England/Spain double is extremely short but likely.
