THE New Year started with a winner and that's the way everyone likes it.

I wasn't going to put up a bet but decided to go with Spurs to score 2+ at Watford and that landed inside 33 minutes before going on to net four in the first half.

Later Arsenal as expected beat Crystal Palace and I imagine there were plenty on the north London double.

Today there's a big English card and with most teams playing a second game in three days be careful with your stakes.

I've posted a separate preview where my Super Single of West Brom to beat Hull at home is explained. The Top Treble starts with Newcastle at Blackburn and I'm adding two form sides form League Two, Wycombe and Cambridge, at home to strugglers Notts County and Wycombe.

In League Two in Scotland, 3rd placed Elgin have found the net 15 times in their last four home games. They entertain leaders Forfar, themselves netting eight in the last 3 aways. Elgin can reduce Forfar’s lead to 8 points and close in on that single automatic promotion place while Forfar will want to maintain their 7 point cushion over 2nd placed Arbroath. So I can see both sides going for it here.

Fulham’s last 6 home games have seen them net 18 times and I expect visitors Brighton to put on a show to turn the screw on Newcastle who have jumped into top spot following the Seagull’s postponed game with Cardiff recently.

    BTTS YES Double
    Elgin v Forfar
    Fulham v Brighton
    (6/4 Coral)

Remarkably, 9 of Gillingham’s 11 home games have gone BTTS YES and they’ve scored in all eleven. Oxford, a point above the Gills in the table, have seen 4 of their last 5 aways go YES. I’m adding it for a smaller stake treble.

    BTTS YES Treble
    Elgin v Forfar
    Fulham v Brighton
    Gillingham v Oxford

I’d do it if I had more time and was writing to a smaller audience.
Everyone is looking for me to put up tips from the main English and Scottish leagues so that’s what I focus on. In the future I’d love to pick say the Bundesliga or Serie and spend hours every week focusing on the weekend card.
Luckily we have got people who do just that – too many to mention really.

Put up my main selection on yesterday’s thread but also fancy this one – 3 teams who know how to score a ‘brace’ and have solid recent form in doing just that…

    CURZON ASHTON
    LEEDS
    LIVERPOOL

    1.5 TGS TREBLE…2.55/1

Best of luck with all bets ?

    • HullShaker 7 years ago

Won’t clog up the thread with all of my reasoning and ramblings posted yesterday for the main pick but will put up the actual selections so they’re all in one place:

      CORBY VS. SPENNYMOOR:

      SPENNYMOOR -1 H/CAP…7/5
      ???

      OVER 3.5 MGS…6/4

Corby my local team, really bad this season after being relegated sit bottom, top striker left at the start of the season and cant really score atm, good solid bet that

Corby doing all the pressing 1st half ?

Just like to wish everyone a happy new year and hopefully together we can bash the bookies this year

Have to say learnt a lot from the other thread on how to bet basically so thank you for that MR F
Think to many times last year I was looking to bet the bookie with one or two bets instead of gradually like Kelly etc with smaller bets but more of them!

Couple of teams I like tomorrow is leeds

    Happy New Year Everyone

    Middlesbrough vs Leicester

Alvaro Negredo is one of Middlesbrough’s top players for being booked. That’s some achievement for a striker. He’s been booked in 3 games from his last 7 which includes the Leicester game at the end of Nov. The two teams meet again and I’m having a speculative punt on him to be booked. Bet Victor are offering odds as short of 15/8 whilst he’s 4/1 with Paddy Power. That makes him a stand out price at 15/2 with Skybet. Hopefully with it being an early kick off it will give me more of the bookies money to play with for the set of the afternoon.

    Recommended Bet:

Negredo to be shown a card anytime @ 15/2 (Skybet)

    Good luck everyone

Seems no-one wants to ‘win-to-nil’ these days in the EPL so going to put together a treble to exploit the theory!

    MAN UTD
    MAN CITY
    LIVERPOOL

    NCS TREBLE…4.29/1
    ?

Taking that theory a step further, the next logical bet is worth a pop for a bigger potential return:

    MAN UTD
    MAN CITY
    LIVERPOOL

    BTTS & WIN TREBLE…24.65/1

After two solid nights in a row, last night was an epic failure for my tips on the A-League.

The final game in round 13, sees Melbourne Victory face off against Newcastle Jets. Note that this game is at a neutral (kinda) venue, as it’s been played in Geelong (which is an hour out of Melbourne… and a lovely spot right near Bells Beach… but I digress). With two games in hand still, Melbourne Victory are the only team with the potential to close the gap with Sydney FC.

Victory are bossing the league, along with Sydney FC, and added to the fact that Berisha is looking to claim the all-time goal scoring record in the A-League with one more goal.

Melbourne Victory – score in both halves…1.90 (3pt)
    Besart Berisha– score 2+ goals… 3.50 (1pt)
    (Bet365)

    • obi wan cannoli 7 years ago

Melbourne Victory – score in both halves…1.90 (3pt) – WON
      Besart Berisha– score 2+ goals… 3.50 (1pt) – LOST

Main bet soared in, and Berisha scored the opener, but none of the other 3 goals.

Hi gents. Hoping to start the year off with a winner in League Two. Newport travel to Wycombe on the run of a six game losing streak, conceding 10 goals in their last three and 2+ in their last four.

Wycombe are in fantastic form, unbeaten in their last 9 league fixtures with 7 wins from 8. Can’t quite understand why they are such a good price but I haven’t read much on team news. What I do know is Wycombe have a scorer in form called Scott Kashket who has scored 6 goals in his last five consecutive league goals and is the man I’m on today to net.

    League Two – 3:00PM

    Wycombe Over 1.5 Team Goals @ 19/20 @ William Hill – 4 points

    Scott Kashket (Wycombe) Anytime @ 11/8 @ 365 – 1 point

New years eve was a bit of a sickener for me. The one selection from 7 on an acca I was most confident in, never ever got started. that was my own team Derby to win to nil. The other 6, well, Brighton was void, but the others came in.
Stats and form suggested derby would scrape a narrow win to nil and my knowledge/research threw up some red flags. 2nd tightest defence in the league and 4th lowest scorers. And highest under 2.5 tmg’s in the league. It was a 0-0. So right on those three counts but without a Derby goal.

Derby’s midfield dynamo Hughes picked up his 10th yellow card ( 1 game out or is that 2? ). – This should give Bryson a chance to make more than a cameo appearance. We still have our problems in left back. We’ve used 5 in that position this season and our third choice Olsson is still out. The gaffer has a left winger Anya filling that role and whilst he’s helped us to another clean sheet, we were limp and stuck in the mud especially early on.

Wigan came to the Ipro and had us on the back foot for the first 30 mins and we really struggled to get a foothold in the game. We were lucky not to concede in the first 30 mins and yet again, halftime we were all level. The halftime couldn’t come quick enough yet we did up our game a little, but it wasn’t enough, we were not good enough in the last third. We NEED Chris Martin back.

Today we face Norwich, a side that seems to blow hot and cold. At the Ipro, former Norwich midfielder and regular Derby midfielder got the only goal of the game and for the 2nd match on the bounce, we have the chance of doing the league double on someone. Our potency in the last third worries me though, we just are not bursting the net enough.

This game is another one we’d love to win but at 11/5 and our last 4 or 5 matches becoming increasingly limp, I’m inclined to think a good result would be a 0-0. A cleansheet would be welcome, but I really do not see where the goals are coming from, unless McClaren sidelines Bent. With Highes having to sit out this one due to his 10th card, we’re going to have to up our game considerably to get something out of it. One think is for sure, the stats all point again to a match devoid of goals.

    Norwich/Derby under 2.5 tmg’s @ 7/10 with bet365 is the only thing I like the look of.

  22. GregBrowning 7 years ago

    Morning gents

It’s really attractive looking card today and there are quite a few matches that I like the look of –
Narrowing down the NAP was the hard part

    Everton v Southampton

It’s been a tough festive period for the saints, hammered 4-1 at home to Spurs followed up by a 2-1 home
Defeat against WBA – Saints will be missing influential defender Van Dijk to the trip to Merseyside and this is a match that the natives will be demanding and expecting to win! Southampton have conceded goals at the leagues weaker teams and I’m taking them to lose another couple here! I think Everton will win this but siding with goals

Back Everton ober 1.5 team goals 11/8 (Coral) (NAP)

    Cambridge v Notts County

Poor old Notts County, they have lost 5 on the spin, have lost 10 of their last 12 and probably have the worst form record in the UK. They travel to inform Cambridge who’ll
Fancy getting another win on the bored to continued their promotion push! They’ll be buoyed by the fact Nottts County have conceded 2 or more goals in 7 of their last away fixtures! Cambridge should win this but going to side with team goals

Back Cambridge over 1.5 Team goals 4/5

    West Ham v Man United

The visitors are still far from convincing and I wouldnt be surprised to see them concede again! Going forward though they are dangerous and it’s probably a matter of time before their front players click and give someone a hammering! This fixture has a history of goals and I dont see the fact this is at a new stadium changing that

Back over 2.5 match goals 3/4

    One last match that im
    On for small stakes

    Poole v Gosport

National southern league action. – these two met on boxing day with people running out 2-0 winners! This is the reverse fixture and from
What’ve have read, Gosport have some serious issue on and off the pitch, players not getting paid, players refusingto play etc!! That coupled with injuries makes Poole look a good shout! The where 1//2 but have been backed into 2/5

Back Poole over 2.5 team goals 6/4

    • garry 7 years ago

Hi Greg, I also fancy Everton to win and score couple today but just realised they rested Bertrand against west brom and will be back today and Redmond is also back for saints. Jose fonte taking up Van Djik’s space. Dont think this will be high goalscoring game but Saints havent won at Goodison in their last 11 visits so I’m also on Everton team goals, just incase they decide to have 2-2 draw!

It’s been a bad couple of days for myself but we’ll keep on plugging away! There’s almost too many ‘obvious’ picks on today’s card based on form. I have a feeling it’ll be case of luckily missing the odd ‘trap’ in the mix. Instead I’ve found myself peering to the lower leagues for today’s main fancy. Deep into the football pyramid there are a couple of games that really ought to see goals based on stats alone.

After a disappointing New Year’s Eve where the canaries fired a blank in a 0-0 draw against a Brentford side who we should have beaten with the chances we had. Cameron Jerome was the main culprit lacking confidence and this seems to be a common trend throughout the team atm unsurprisingly. Today we face a Derby side who have massively picked up the last couple of months with Steve having a very positive impact on the side after the disaster with the ostrich man. I could quite easily see Derby getting a point however I did like the look of the new 3 at the back system against Brentford, whether we play this again today is debatable but in Oliveria we have a player who only needs a couple of yards and he’s deadly so given the right service today in the shape of Pritchard or Wes or even Naismith could potentially grab a goal in a match which could quite easily see under 2.5 goals, I’m a bit unsure today as I’m sure both sides will chop and change but Alex Neil is running out of time and knows being at home we have to win, at this stage of the season we can’t settle for wins now and then if we want to make the play-offs. I feel like we have to win today in order to give ourselves a chance, whether we will or not is a different question however I have a good feeling today so I’m going to throw it out there and say a 1-0 win to the yellows but I could quite easily see this game end up as a draw likewise therefore I like the look of Norwich draw no bet.
    bets I advise
    Under 2.5 goals
    Oliveria to score
    Norwich draw no bet

    Derby team news:

2 changes, 1 enforced with Will Hughes sitting out his first of 2 matches banned for 10 yellow cards; In comes Bryson – who’s not really had much of a sniff due to current results. Bent also gets swapped out and in comes Vydra – I’d like to see him have a stormer and hopefully keep Bent out of the starting 11, I’m stiff not convinced Bent is the man to lead the frontline and with the is he/isn’t he situation with Chris Martin coming back, we still need to find someone to pitch in with the goals.

    Carson
    Baird/Perace/Keogh/Anya
    Butterfield/Johnson/Bryson
    Russell/Vydra/Ince

With Johnson playing his former employer ( and notching against them in the 1 nil at the Ipro earlier on in the season ) – don’t be surprised if he ups his game in this one.
Russell still works hard – always has, but he’s been lacking of late and needs to up his creativity/decision making if he’s to keep his place.
Ince – well he’s leading the line with his 8 goals BUT I think that given he’s not the focal point for attack, he’s done well so far to be on 8 – I’d like the gaffer to try him up front as the target man – we have spare wingers who can do Ince’s job out wide – it worked at Arsenal with Walcott.
Vydra in for Bent: that’s a no brainer: That is his position, he just needs to make it his with some solid onion bag bursters.
Bryson: – lacking match time, he did have the remnants of his last seasons injury carried over into this season and when Derby started to hit form on McClarens arrival and Hendrick going out to Burnley, Bryson has a chance to shine, give the gaffer a real midfield delimma of who to leave out – we’ve not had that for too long.

Derby have offered Forest 2.5 mill for Landsbury, but they’ve either turned it down or they’re about to. He’s out of contract at the end of the season so if he doesn’t move soon or re-sign a new contract, ITV will soon snap him up for a new series of ” Murder she wrote “. I’d like us to see us sort our front 3 out, we have enough options, we need to straighten that out and produce goals. We also need a decent left-back for coverage of Forsyth/Lowe/Olsson – all out injured.
Finally, Chris Martin is not involved with Fulham’s latest match – maybe he’s busy packing his suitcase back to derby.

FYI, its now Pride Park, the Ipro stadium has reverted back to its original name.

I recommend under 2.5 tmg’s @ 7/10. Until the goals start coming, even though Norwich’s results are far from stellar and Derby to win price @ 11/5 is very generous, I think its reflected by our recent goal glut. If we were a bit more freescoring, maybe we’d see a smaller price. But until we know where we are come 16:45hrs, 3 matches in 6 days and then we have WBA away in the FA cup, this could be a week where results for Derby could swing in the direction we don’t.

    Best of luck guys.

    Ryman League 3pm

This league is currently averaging 62% Over 2.5 Goals and
    38% Under.

That’s exactly the same as the Dutch Eerte Divisie currently,
but whereas the average bookies’ Overs ‘nailed-on’* offer is around 2/5 in that
popular goals league, here it’s a bit higher.

    *Nothing is nailed-on, of course!

I see Leroy already picked two of these for BTTS, Leiston v
Needham & Merstham v Leatherhead, and no arguments on that.

I’ve picked five matches, all of which represent an excellent
shot at over 2.5 goals, with both teams averaging over 3 goals as either home
or away side in matches played so far this season.

I suggest going for 5 fourfolds and one fivefold.

    Dulwich Hamlet v Hendon

    Home P14 O12 U2 F32 A26 Avg GPG 4.1 (Rank 1/24)

    Away P14 O9 U5 F22 A32 Avg GPG 3.9 (Rank 5/24)

    Over 2.5 goals is 1/2

    Leiston v Needham

    Home P9 O7 U2 F27 A13 Avg GPG 4.4 (Rank 12/24 – note fewer
    home games played)

    Away P12 O8 U4 F21 A18 Avg GPG 3.3 (10/24)

    Over 2.5 goals is 3/4

    Merstham v Leatherhead

    Home P12 O9 U3 F34 A18 Avg GPG 4.3 (Rank 6/24)

    Away P13 O12 U1 F23 A29 Avg GPG 4 (Rank 1/24)

    Over 2.5 goals is 1/2

    Staines v Grays

    Home P14 O10 U4 F23 A29 Avg GPG 3.8 (Rank 4/24)

    Away P14 O10 U4 F15 A37 Avg GPG 3.7 (Rank 2/24)

    Over 2.5 goals is 8/15

    Sudbury v Lowestoft 3.4

    Home P12 O9 U3 F23 A18 Avg GPG 3.4 (Rank 7/24)

    Away P13 O9 U4 F21 A23 Avg GPG 3.4 (Rank 7/24)

    Over 2.5 goals is 7/10

The 5 fold pays at 10.26

Derby have come flying out the blocks and are competing well, mistakes at the back are already starting to creep into the game for Norwich. Derby currently @ 12/5 for the win. Derby look like they’re pressing for the first goal. If it goes to Derby – and I re-iterate their back 4 looks shakey, their crowd will get on their backs and Norwich won’t find their way back in to the match.

    • nathanufton 7 years ago

And theres the sucker punch, 1st chance they get against the run of play and oliviera gets Norwich the opener.

  53. nathanufton 7 years ago

Derby have well and truly been slapped down. 3 nil down and 10 men. We started brightly, Norwich score against the run of play, then Norwich tails go up and Derby’s heads go down. This is going to be a painful week.
Can’t remember the last time we were thumped for 3 without reply, but our defence has been shocking. Carson kept it at 1 nil for a long time, naysmith could of had a brace before ht. Maybe this is the wakeup call we need. We’ve been persistently getting worse this past month but somehow winning.

It’s all going wrong for me at the minute. That’s three days on the bounce without a winner.. starting to think I must’ve cracked a few mirrors over Christmas! Merstham was the only goalless game in the Ryman league and all of the other 4 on my Ryman BTTS shortlist sailed in. Then, the insurance of Leeds and Liverpool was flunked when Mane decided to get a bit handy late on – though I’m sure that’s something we’ve all been guilty of.

I’m off to find myself a rabbit’s foot and a four leaf clover. ;) Well done to those bagging winners.

    • shortee 7 years ago

i was like that for ages leroy mate, then recently changed my “tactic” to inplay singles on goal markets or team to win, not advice but ive noticed my balance change and go up as doing bigger stakes but less selections and just trying to roll over. No West Ham goal pushes the NCS TREBLE under the tram with Burnley ànd Sunderland already having done their bit…second time The Hammers have cost me a decent return this week and earns them pride of place at the top of my Sh*t-List ??.

Early red card to Feghouli didn’t help matters…I might pin his picture to a dartboard tonight but a. I’m crap at darts and b. I don’t have a dartboard…

Speaking of darts, I don’t usually follow but with a lack of South American football over the last week or so, I’ve been spending some time following Jordan’s Sports Thread.

If you haven’t had a look, it is superb and has been a real education for me – the level of knowledge from Jordan, Raoul Duke, Lucky Fillipino, Fraser, Max, Bullseye and others re NBA and NFL is second to none.

Back to darts though, and that man Bullseye is the oracle – I’m going for a few of his picks in the final and also the 9-dart checkout…close yesterday!

    Best of luck ?
