Aug 27: Johnb’s Racing Tips & Chat

JOHNB’S nap was beaten by a head on Friday so it was 2pts lost with his other tip a non-runner.

His profit for August now stands at 30.11pts and he’s hoping to get back among the winners on Saturday.

Johnb says: “I have already advised Churchill for next year’s 2000 Guineas & Derby – he has been really impressive this season and my view is he will get even better next year.

“Blue Point on the other hand is harder to call for how he will progress next year. If he trains on then in my view it’s a straight fight between Blue Point & Churchill but in the Derby Churchill is the only horse for me – he gives me the same excitement as Golden Horn did.

“But to answer my question earlier the most impressive horse I have seen this year is BLUE POINT with Churchill and Annie Power a close second and third.”

I got another Cheltenham Festival winner five months after the race,
But nobody will get paid for it,
Punters should know by now that horses being awarded a race at a later date don’t get paid
It has cost one punter £700,000 but it’s the rules and if they paid him then they would have to pay everyone and they won’t do that,

So my Cheltenham Festival winner that has just been awarded the win is JOSIES ORDERS who I tipped at 11/4
Josies Orders gets the race because the winner ANY CURRENCY has been disqualified after failing a post race drugs test

Furious punter says disqualification of Cheltenham Festival winner FIVE months on cost him £700,000

Cheltenham Festival punters who backed cross country chase runner-up Josies Orders are feeling aggrieved this morning as bookmakers refuse to pay out on the horse’s promotion following a disciplinary hearing.

Original winner Any Currency, trained in Gloucestershire by Martin Keighley, was disqualified from first place by the British Horseracing Authority yesterday after failing a post-race drugs test.

Unless it is stated in their rules, bookmakers have no obligation to pay out on a result changed many months down the line. But many punters feel hard done by, especially Ian Brown who would have netted £700,000 from Skybet.

Josies Orders was the seventh horse in his accumulator. The other six, including Blaklion (9/1) and Yorkhill (3/1) won.

Skybet are yet to respond to Brown publicly, but have told other punters they will not budge on the matter.

Paddy Power is a firm known for its ‘justice refunds’, where stakes are given back when a horse fails to start for example.
But they too will not offer recompense this time.

“Unfortunately the disqualification has left a number of people aggrieved, including the connections of Any Currency, but we aren’t paying out retrospectively on Josies Orders,” said spokesman Paul Binfield.

Not only was Josies Orders in plenty of multiples, JP McManus’ eight-year-old was well punted into 15/8 favourite from 5/2 in the ring.

Favourite backers were trying to recoup some of their losses on the day after 4/6f Un De Sceaux had been turned over by Sprinter Sacre in the previous contest, the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Those who backed Any Currency at odds of 11/1, at the racecourse and elsewhere, can keep their winnings.

The form of Pedro Serrano’s only run is far superior to anything else in the race and to be honest the rest of these horses are pretty bad,
Yes the horse last run nearly 4 years ago but you don’t pay to keep a horse in training for that long unless you think you have a good one, he did look pretty impressive on his debut and he actually has an advantage of being Physically better built now but still being lightly raced

Didn’t get any luck with Pedro Serrano, beaten 6 1/2 length but lost at least double that at the start when the jockey couldn’t get the blind off
Perron Serrano actually ran the distance quicker than the winner

    Race 2 – 2:35pm
THE totescoop6 RACING’S MILLIONAIRE MAKER MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 4)
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why Dane O’Neill, the rider of PEDRO SERRANO (IRE), had been slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his horse being slow to start. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the start they accepted his explanation that the blindfold had been tightly tucked in and had got stuck on the eyeshield therefore had been difficult to remove.
