Wimbledon tennis tips

We may still be early on in week one of Wimbledon, but this year's tournament has already had its fair share of drama, not least on Tuesday evening when the men's third seed, Alexander Zverev, and the women's second seed, Coco Gauff, both went crashing out.

If ever a reminder was needed of the perils of grass court tennis, then Tuesday night provided it. Those results, on top of other shocks throughout the opening round, will have focused minds ahead of round two.

Day four at Wimbledon will see the likes of Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner and Jack Draper all return to action on the men's side of the draw, while Iga Swiatek will play on the women's side.

Ahead of play getting underway, check out our Wimbledon day 4 tips below.

Wimbledon day 4 tips: Our picks

Novak Djokovic vs Dan Evans – Over 3.5 sets (2/1)

Novak Djokovic had half a scare in his opening round clash with Alexandre Muller on Tuesday night, but the 24-time grand slam champion eventually came through in four sets.

Simply losing a set of tennis isn't the biggest concern about the result, but rather the manner in which Djokovic lost it. The Serb had 11 break points and six set points in the set he lost, and the fact that he failed to convert any of them is perhaps a sign that his mental fortitude, which once made him the greatest champion of all, is fading.

Dan Evans will be a tricky customer for Djokovic in round two, not least because he is a home favourite. Evans also has plenty of grass court form this season, and picked up an impressive win over Frances Tiafoe at Queen's last month. Evans came through his opening round match in straight sets.

Jack Draper to beat Marin Cilic 3-0 (4/6)

Jack Draper's first round performance was arguably the most impressive of the entire tournament so far, so it is no surprise that he is short as 1/12 with top tennis betting sites to get past a former finalist here, Marin Cilic.

Draper has momentum, and the crowd, with him and a straight sets victory looks by far the most likely outcome on Thursday. The Englishman has recently moved up to a career high of fourth in the world and looked every inch that on Tuesday when he beat Sebastian Baez in one hour and 18 minutes.

Cilic, on the other hand, is on a downward trajectory as far as his career is concerned. At the age of 36, his best years are behind him, and he hasn't beaten a player inside the top five in the world in any of the last three years.

Iga Swiatek vs Catherine McNally – over 17.5 games (10/11)

While Iga Swiatek is the favourite to come through this match, Catherine McNally is certainly capable of making a game of it. Swiatek isn't overly comfortable on grass and has suffered shock defeats here in the past.

McNally's doubles prowess could come in handy in this match-up, too. Her ability to serve and volley well will be a handy weapon to have against a player who only moves off the baseline if she absolutely has to.

These two have only met twice before, but on both occasions, the match went longer than 17.5 games.
