ADVENT kicks off today, and it would take a Christmas miracle to find some consensus in the boxing world over the outcome of tonight’s eagerly anticipated showdown for the WBC Heavyweight title.

Tyson Fury, the lineal champion following his famous points victory over Vladimir Klitschko in 2015, comes in to this one as challenger for the title. Fury has fought addiction, weight and health issues in the interim, as well as two no hopers since his comeback started in earnest.

At his 2015 peak, Fury was king of the world and possessed sufficient technical skills to comfortably outpoint a legend in Klitschko. If it were that Fury entering the ring tonight, I would be picking Fury on points at a widely available 5/2.

Wilder is severely lacking from a technical standpoint and if Fury is able to box smart and stay out of his way, then it’s a distinct possibility that he could repeat the success of 2015. However, too much has happened to Fury in the interim for me, and his warm up fights haven’t been sufficiently challenging to prepare him for Wilder, who will undoubtedly go to war and give himself every opportunity to land his signature right hand, undoubtedly the most concussive weapon in boxing today.

5/2 for Fury on points doesn’t represent enough value for me either, as there’s no doubt that that’s the riskier pick than the only other likely outcome for me: Wilder by knock out.

Klitschko played into Fury’s hands in 2015 and didn’t apply enough pressure. Wilder will have no such concerns. He knows his only chance of victory here is the knock out, and he knows he only needs to land one punch, as his career record shows.

I fancy Wilder to apply sufficient pressure and against a lesser Fury, I think his rangey style will ensure he lands that one knock out punch.

I expect Fury to use his skills and win rounds in the fight, but I can’t see him being able to avoid Wilder all night. We’ve seen before that Wilder carries his knock out power into the championship rounds, and I fancy him to land the knock out as Fury tires late on.

Whatever happens its sure to be a great night of boxing, enjoy and good luck fight fans!!

I agree mate. Thought he would win on points if it went the distance and he should have got the decision imo.
