US Open women’s seeds

It’s Grand Slam time in New York, with the best of women’s tennis converging on Flushing Meadows to fight it out for glory over the next fortnight. Those given seeding at the US Open have a big advantage, as they won’t have to play any fellow seeds for the first two rounds. The biggest names will also ensure their paths don’t cross until much later in the weekend.

Who are the women’s seeds at the 2024 US Open? How are they projected to perform in New York? Who are the other players competing in the women’s draw? Read on for our break down of the US Open women’s seeds, including a forecast of how each of the 32 seeds will perform, plus an overview of the tournament’s entry list as a whole.

US Open women’s seeds and projected finishes

Here are the seeds for the women’s US Open, along with our projections for where all 32 will finish in this year’s tournament:

  1. Iga Świątek – runner up
  2. Aryna Sabalenka – champion
  3. Coco Gauff – third round
  4. Elena Rybakina – semi-finals
  5. Jasmine Paolini – third round
  6. Jessica Pegula – quarter-finals
  7. Zheng Qinwen – first round
  8. Barbora Krejčíková – third round
  9. Maria Sakkari – second round
  10. Jeļena Ostapenko – first round
  11. Danielle Collins – round of 16
  12. Daria Kasatkina – third round
  13. Emma Navarro – semi-finals
  14. Madison Keys – round of 16
  15. Anna Kalinskaya – round of 16
  16. Liudmila Samsonova – second round
  17. Diana Shnaider – third round

  23. Donna Vekić – round of 16
  24. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova – third round
  25. Paula Badosa – quarter-finals
  26. Elina Svitolina – round of 16
  27. Caroline Garcia – third round
  28. Ekaterina Alexandrova – third round
  29. Yulia Putintseva – first round
  30. Katie Boulter – first round
  31. Dayana Yastremska – third round
  32. Elise Mertens – first round

We’re expecting a mixed bag from the women’s seeds this year at the US Open. Our prediction is that Aryna Sabalenka will go all the way and win the title, though she’ll have some tough resistance from Iga Swiatek.

Home favourite Coco Gauff will continue her poor run of form and fail to defend her title, crashing out in the third round. However, our forecast has another American player – Emma Navarro – making a career-best run to the US Open final. Plenty of seeds should fall early as well, with the likes of Zheng Qinwen and Jelena Ostapenko going home early this week.

Note that Ons Jabeur and Marketa Vondrousova would have been seeded, but both were forced to withdraw from the tournament ahead of the seeding being finalised.

Only one lucky loser has been placed in the women’s US Open draw so far in 2024. That is Kamilla Rakhimova, who takes the spot on Ons Jabeur who withdrew with a shoulder injury. Rakhimova lost in the final round of qualifying
