The first is one of the most interesting round-one matches at the event. Emma Raducanu is facing Sofia Kenin. The other features a huge upset and a seed going down, so keep reading to find out what it is.
Best US Open betting tips for day 2
As mentioned above, we’re going to take a look at Emma Raducanu against Sofia Kenin, and we’re going with Raducanu winning 2-1. The other bet is an upset, as Thanasi Kokkinakis will oust Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first round of the event.
Raducanu to beat Kenin 2-1 @ 3/1
Emma Raducanu is the huge favourite against Sofia Kenin because the American hasn’t played very well lately. She hasn’t even won 10 matches this year, which is a pretty poor mark at the end of August.
Raducanu hasn’t played much tennis but has generally been pretty good when she did. She hasn’t been active since Washington, which is why we’re backing her to win with a dropped set. Kenin hasn’t been good, but Raducanu hasn’t played in a while.
Due to that lack of rhythm, Raducanu is very likely to drop one set before turning around the match. This is great value because Kenin isn’t good enough to win the match, but surely she can win a set at her home slam.
Kokkinakis to beat Tsitsipas @ 12/5
Stefanos Tsitsipas hasn’t performed well at the US Open over the years. He’s generally been the worst-performing seed in recent years. He hasn’t been good lately, either, so there is no form to fall back on.
In the meantime, Kokkinakis has been playing a lot of tennis on these hard-court events. He’s got a good serve, which will target that backhand and also the forehand, which is massive as well.
The form is on his side, and the last time they played, Tsitsipas barely beat him in five sets. Right now, with the momentum he’s had in recent weeks, there is a very good chance that he finally does. With odds like these, it’s a huge value bet to take the Australian.
Overall, we have two somewhat risky bets, but they are of great value, with things that back them up. For Raducanu, it’s his lack of playing time lately, which can hurt her, while for Kokkinakis, it’s been him simply looking better than Tsitsipas lately.
