THE fair city of Perth is where all the action is today as St Johnstone host St Mirren and Mr Fixit's beloved Clydebank play my old side Kinnoull in the Scottish Cup – I’ll be focusing on the SPFL clash.

St Johnstone v St Mirren (3pm)

It’s very rarely you’ll see m back my side (I usually back against us as you know) but I really fancy us to collect another three points today.

We come into this off the back of a hard-fought 1-0 away win at Motherwell last week and that win moves us 7 points clear of today’s opponents St Mirren.

It’s going to be difficult to compete with the top sides in the league this season but one thing I can say without any bias is we are a better team than at least 4 of 5 teams.

Our three wins have come against 3 of the bottom 4 sides in the league and we’ve also claimed creditable draws at home against Hibs and Aberdeen.

After an opening-day win against Dundee it’s been a a season to forget for the Paisley side who have gone on to lose 8 of their last 9 matches in all competition with a solitary point at home to Celtic all they have to show.

These games against the league's poorer sides will become more important than ever as points collected against the top 5 teams will be limited in comparison to previous seasons.

This will be a tough game for us but the bookies have us just a shade below evens which I think is extremely generous given we are at home, are 7 points better off and St Mirren are really struggling.

Taking the Perth men to collect another three points today in a close affair.

Recommended Bet

  • St Johnstone to beat St Mirren
  • 20/23 (Betvictor) (NAP)

Two matches from the English Championship where we should see goals

Norwich v Brentford
WBA v Blackburn

Norwich will be full of confidence after their midweek win at home to Villa.

Brentford are struggling at the moment and there is no way they’ll be keeping a clean sheet here.

They are good for a goal though and have seen both sides score in 9 of their last 10 matches

West Brom will be smarting after their 4-1 home hammering to Derby midweek but they should get back to winning ways today

7 of their last 8 games at home have seen over 2.5 goals and with Blackburn netting in 8 of their last 10 on the road we should see both sides scoring here

Recommendation

  • Over 2.5 match goals double
  • 21/10 (888 Sport)

Will also be on the usual specials in English League One and Two for loose change at huge prices

First half goals
Over 1.5 goals

Well in with the St J pick, Greg…could afford to miss 2 penalties as well.

I also think that every English Championship match had a first half goal, including I think the early and late KO’s.

That would have been a tidy return

First tip yesterday was a looser the derby failed to excite in most areas yesterday and the cards just didn’t get flowing like expected.

On to today with my NAP Barnsley to score 3+ Goals 5/4 (coral)

Goals have dried up lately for us however on our day this season we can really give teams a beating. I usually approach the f.a cup with caution due to line ups and nature however on Tuesday we had a famous chekatrade trophy match against Everton under 21’s followed by another checkstrade match Tuesday which means nothing to us other than another run out for our substitutes as we have qualified for the next round. Therefore today’s team should be a strong one and if starting kieffer Moore could easily notch a couple. All this along with notts counties defensive worries leads me to strong enough reason that we should put at least 3 past the vistors today.
