FC EDINBURGH were many people's tips to go straight back down to League Two after they won promotion in the summer, but they have become the surprise packages of League One and can continue their excellent form on Saturday at Peterhead.

Manager Alan Maybury has performed wonders with the capital side and he's made some astute signings for this level like Liam Fontaine and James Craigen.

The result has been plenty of shocks this season and they are on a great run with four wins in the last five games – the only defeat coming at leaders Dunfermline to a late goal.

They comfortably defeated Peterhead a few weeks ago and a trip to Balmoor Stadium should hold no fears, especially with Jim McInally's side in dismal form themselves having lost their last four games in a row.

The Citizens have been getting backed all week and although the 17/20 looks a generous price.

STENHOUSEMUIR should have too much for Albion Rovers in Coatbridge.

Stephen Swift's side eased past East Fife last week in an all-League Two clash in the Scottish Cup and have been in decent form. Their only loss in their last eight games has come at the hands of in-form leaders Stirling Albion and they are good travellers having won all three of their away games in that spell.

Albion Rovers are bottom of the league and needed extra time to defeat Glasgow University – who currently sit in 11th place in the West of Scotland League Second Division – in the Scottish Cup.
Brian Reid's side have only managed one home win all season and Stenny look the call at 13/10.

Improving COVE RANGERS look a big price at 19/10 when they travel to face Hamilton Accies on Saturday.

Accies have been opposed here a lot, but they are bottom of the Championship for a reason. Their cause this week won't be helped by the suspension of two key players Dan O'Reilly and Scott Martin while keeper Ryan Fulton is an injury doubt.

Cove had a ropey start to life in the second tier but they have recently chalked up big wins over Dundee and Arbroath and scored twice at high-flying Ayr United last week at Somerset Park in a 2-2 draw.

And the Aberdeen side seems to be heading in the right direction.

  • RECOMMENDATIONS:
  • FC EDINBURGH 17/20
  • STENHOUSEMUIR 13/10
  • COVE RANGERS 19/10.
