MEET THE RYDER CUP TEAMS
Jim Furyk
Pennsylvania, USA. Age 48.
Furyk will be aiming to bring his wealth of Ryder Cup experience to the USA team in France. Only Phil Mickelson has racked up more appearances than him at the tournament.
He will be assisted at Le Gold National by vice-captains Davis Love III, Steve Stricker, David Duval, Zach Johnson and Matt Kuchar.

Thomas Bjørn
Denmark. Age 47.
In 1997 Thomas Bjørn became the first Dane to qualify for a European Ryder Cup team. He subsequently served as European vice-captain four times.
Bjørn selected Robert Karlsson as his first vice-captain in May 2017, a year later he added four more vice-captains: Luke Donald, Pádraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell and Lee Westwood.

Francesco Molinari
Italy. Age: 35
Playing in his third Ryder Cup, the current Open champion will be aiming to improve upon his win rate of 16.67% in the competititon.

Justin Rose
England. Age: 38
With 19 Ryder Cup matches under his belt, Rose is one of Europe's most experienced players and boasts a win rate of 63.16%.

Tyrell Hatton
England. Age: 26
Rookie Hatton has racked up 7 professional career wins since turning pro in 2012. The 2018 Ryder Cup looks set to be his biggest challenge to date.

Tommy Fleetwood
England. Age: 27
Fleetwood will make his Ryder Cup debut at Le Golf National. He rose to European number 1 in 2017 and almost won his first major, finishing second at the US Open this year.

Jon Rahm
Spain. Age: 23
Rahm follows in the footsteps of some legendary Spaniards who have contributed to famous European wins in the Ryder Cup. At 23 he's the youngest at the tournament.

Rory McIroy
Northern Ireland. Age: 29
Playing in his fifth consecutive Ryder Cup, McIlroy's performance could be pivotal to Europe's chances. His overall record to date is W9-L6-H4.

Alex Norén
Sweden. Age: 36
At 36, Norén will be the oldest rookie in 2018's competition. Notably, he won the 2018 Open de France which was contested at the same course at this year's Ryder Cup.

Thorbjørn Olesen
Denmark. Age: 28
Olesen will be the lowest ranked player (40th) at the tournament. The consistent Dane claimed the final spot on the World Points List and is yet another Ryder Cup rookie.

Paul Casey
England. Age: 41
One of the Captain's Picks, Casey has a strong record at the Ryder Cup (55.56%) despite losing 3/4 fourballs. One of six players to score a hole-in-one at the tournament.

Sergio Garcia
Spain. Age: 38
Of the 24 players this year, only Phil Mickelson has played in more tournaments than Garcia. A future European captain, the Spaniard finally added a Major to his list of honours with the 2017 Masters title.

Ian Poulter
England. Age: 42
Poulter often saves his best golf for the Ryder Cup which is demonstrated in his incredible 72.22% success rate, earned over five tournament appearances, in which Europe have won on four occasions.

Henrik Stenson
Sweden. Age: 42
Stenson famously holed the winning putt for Team Europe at the K Club on his Ryder Cup debut. As one of four Captain's Picks, Thomas Bjørn will be hoping for another memorable moment or two from the Swede.

Brooks Koepka
Age: 28
Koepka made a successful debut in the 2016 Ryder Cup, winning three and losing one of his four matches at the US won the trophy at Hazeltine.

Dustin Johnson
Age: 34
Johnson became the first player to win at least three events, for three years in a row since Tiger Woods. This will be his fourth Ryder Cup appearance.

Justin Thomas
Age: 25
Thomas is one of only three rookies in the US team but he shouldn't be fazed by the experience given his huge wins at the PGA Championship and the $10m Fed Ex Cup.

Patrick Reed
Age: 28
Reed can be ‘marmite' to golf fans but his single-minded determination should be a huge asset on the Sunday if the local crowd pile on the pressure.

Bubba Watson
Age: 39
Bubba makes his fourth Ryder Cup appearance this year but his win rate of just 27.27% in his previous 11 matches must be a concern for captain, Furyk.

Jordan Spieth
Age: 25
Although not having the best of seasons by his own high standards, 3-time major winner, Spieth will inevitably be a key player for the Americans in Paris.

Rickie Fowler
Age: 29
Fowler is so often the nearly-man at major tournaments but he showed his mettle by bagging two points in three matches for the Americans at Hazeltine in 2016.

Webb Simpson
Age: 33
Simpson has six top-10 finishes this season and is currently ranked 17th in the world. This will be his third Ryder Cup appearance.

Bryson DeChambeau
Age: 25
DeChambeau will make his Ryder Cup bow at Le Golf National. He has five professional wins under his belt but has yet to make a dent any of the majors.

Phil Mickelson
Age: 48
Lefty has seen it all and done it all when it comes to the Ryder Cup. He's a veteran of 11 previous tournaments, but his win rate is less than 50%. He'll be Furyk's chief on-course lieutenant.

Tiger Woods
Age: 42
Tiger is back! After his first tour win in 5 years his inclusion in the US team adds a whole different dimension to the 2018 Ryder Cup. Expect things to reach fever pitch on the final day if he's in the mix to win a crucial point.

Tony Finau
Age: 29
Rookie Finau was the captain's last pick following the BMW Championship. The 29-year-old has recorded 2 tour wins and finished 5th at the US Open in 2018.
Le Golf National
Location: Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France
Established: 1990
Designed by: Hubert ChesneauRobert Von Hagge
Par: 72
Length: 7,331 yards (6,703 m)
Course record: 62 – Eduardo Romero (2005)
There are three courses at Le Golf National – L’Albatros (albatross), L’Aigle (eagle) and L’Oiselet (birdie), with the former providing the venue for the 2018 Ryder Cup.
The course is hugely dangerous given the amount of water surrounding many holes and poses a host of challenges for the players. From the tricky first tee shot, with a narrowing fairway flanked by water on one side and bunkers on the other to the exciting 18th, and that final approach shot to the island green, the course itself will be as big a factor in who takes home the Ryder Cup trophy than all of the players themsleves.
The European team's experience at Le Golf National may also be a deciding factor over the weekend. Between them they have played a combined 233 career rounds at Le Golf National in the Open de France. The USA team has played just eight. Only one of them played in this year's Open de France.
