RANGERS look to be on the ropes and they will face an attacking Aberdeen side on Saturday who will be dying to add to the gloom at Ibrox.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst is under serious pressure after a series of dismal displays.and it says everything about where Rangers are at when a 3-0 defeat from a severely understrength Napoli team is viewed as something almost approaching a triumph because they weren't annihilated again.
Aberdeen eventually ended their appalling recent away record – which had been two wins in 23 games away from Pittodrie – with a hard-fought victory at Motherwell last week.
Jim Goodwin's side have plenty of goals in them – North Macedonian striker Bojan Miovski has nine goals in all competitions and Dutch forward Vicente Besuijen has seven.
A recent switch to three at the back has given them a new-found solidity after they had twice been destroyed away from home this season when they were thumped at Hibs and Dundee United.
However, there remains a strong suspicion they are a totally different side at Pittodrie to the one on their travels.
For Rangers, any win will do. They absolutely need an early goal here to ease the worries of their famously impatient punters at Ibrox.
A delay in that or worse still, an Aberdeen goal and the mood could easily turn very toxic indeed.
How the bookies view it
Rangers are around the 1/3 mark although there is a spot of 7/20 around with SBK.
Aberdeen can be backed at 9/1 with Coral and the draw is 9/2 with bet365.
Recent head to heads
Aberdeen had an awful campaign last term, but they still managed two draws against Rangers at Ibrox and Pittodrie. Rangers won the other game 1-0.
The Dons didn't win at Ibrox between 1992 and 2018.
Players to watch
Antonio Colak is now Rangers' undisputed main striker ahead of Alfredo Morelos and he's been a good signing in a season where the majority of new imports have now. The Croatian is evens to net with bet365.
As stated, Miovski has been in fine form for the Dons and he should get chances here. He's a good price with bet365 at 10/3 to score.
Anything else catch the eye?
Aberdeen simply won't get a better chance of taking something from Ibrox and while they should be targeting a win against a Rangers side who must be low in confidence, their patchy away form means that can't be backed with complete confidence.
The draw or a win for the Dons at 23/10 with Coral should give us a run for our money.
With Rangers still having to field something of a makeshift defence, Aberdeen will fancy their chances of breaching it. They have scored in all but two of their 16 games so far this season and one of those was against Celtic. It's odds-on at 8/11, but Aberdeen to score with bet365 seems a solid shout.
