Leicester City vs West Ham United

, KO: 12:00 Oct 4, 2020, King Power Stadium
West Ham United

THE Foxes are flying again and another victory at home to West Ham would probably be enough to keep Leicester at the Premier League summit heading into the international break.

Like the bookies, I didn't fancy Leicester's chances at the Etihad last weekend but they pulled off a stunning upset to beat Manchester City 5-2, with evergreen Jamie Vardy netting a hat-trick.

Thankfully, James Maddison stepped off the bench to score a stunner and bring up my tip of a goal from outside the area, saving me from a total wipeout.

It has been a hugely impressive start from Brendan Rodgers' side but they won't get it easy against a Hammers team starting to show signs of life again.

Their 4-0 win over Wolves last weekend was just as surprising as Leicester's Etihad romp, especially with boss David Moyes having to manage the side from home as he self-isolated following a Covid-19 outbreak.

I fancied both teams to score in that game but the Hammers managed to shut out Raul Jimenez and Co to claim their first league win of the new season.

If they can turn in a similar display here, there's a good chance Moyes' men can take something from the early pacesetters.

How the bookies view it

After their heroics in Manchester, the Foxes are odds-on favourites here at a best 4-6 with Unibet. West Ham are 17/4 with Bet365 but I'm more drawn to the stalemate at 33/10 with Unibet.

Recent head to head

Leicester have been on top in this fixture of late, going four matches unbeaten. Both meetings ended as stalemates in season 2018-19 but the Foxes beat West Ham twice last term, a 4-1 victory at home (below) following a 2-1 triumph in London.

The Hammers last won at the King Power in April 2018, with skipper Mark Noble sealing a 2-0 success.

Players to watch

Ayoze Perez netted twice in this fixture last season but was left on the bench last week so I'm wary of backing him for a goal here at 23/10 with Paddy Power. Maddison could be unleashed from the start and is a tempting 3/1 at 888Sport to score again.

Michail Antonio drew a blank against Wolves but remains West Ham's biggest threat and is 11/5 with Paddy Power for a goal.

I flagged up Tomas Soucek for a goal against Wolves, only for his header to go down as an own goal after taking a deflection. The big Czech is 16/1 with Skybet to score with a header here and that's a decent long-shot option.

Anything else catch the eye?

Both teams to score has come up in six of the last seven meetings of these sides so try a repeat here at 7/10 with William Hill. West Ham are a much more physical team than Leicester and they are 4/6 with the same firm to pick up the first booking.

Games between these sides have been averaging around three cards in recent seasons so under 3.5 cards also appeals at 8/11 with Bet365. If you double some of these bets you can find a bit better value.
