As expected, Bayern Munich have been flawless in the Bundesliga and are the only team with full points after three rounds. But the trips to Hoffenheim have not always been easy, and the Kraichgauers have been looking sharp too.
Hoffenheim kicked off the season strong, winning their DFB Pokal match and recording solid wins over Bayer Leverkusen and Union Berlin. Their only misstep to date was the defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt, but the positives are there – Hoffenheim’s attack looks incredible. Their defence could benefit from some improvement but it is still early days and overall, they look much better than last season. If you followed the Bundesliga last season, you’d know that they barely escaped relegation by finishing three points above the drop zone.
On the other end, it is hard to find any significant negatives at Bayern Munich, as the champions started the season with six consecutive wins in all competitions, scoring 22 goals in the process. Most recently, they dealt a huge blow to Chelsea in the opening round of the Champions League. With a few smart transfers to enrich the championship squad, Vincent Kompany’s side now looks even stronger.

Hoffenheim have found some success against Bayern Munich in recent years, and always at home. An example is the same fixture from the 2023/24 season, when Hoffenheim won 4-2. But apart from such rare surprises, the Bavarians have dominated this rivalry and often won by crushing margins. Last season’s matches were particularly bad for the Kraichgauers, as they lost 5-0 in Munich and 4-0 at home.
Players to watch: Diaz was the missing piece
There are too many options in Bayern Munich’s squad, with Harry Kane being the obvious pick week after week. But we never liked his odds and prefer to trust other players like Luis Diaz, who is already proving to be one of the best transfers of 2025.
