ANGE POSTECOGLOU'S swashbuckling Celtic bandwagon continues on its merry way north to Pittodrie on Wednesday to face a Dons team very much down in the dumps.
Celtic brushed Motherwell away at the weekend with the same dynamic brand of football that did for Rangers a few days earlier. If you're a neutral – and let's be honest, very few are in Scotland – you can't help to be impressed with the hugely easy-on-the-eye tempo the Australian has got his team playing.
They are very much on a roll too. It's now one defeat in 25 since the end of September and that was at Bundesliga stalwarts Bayer Leverkusen. Unquestionably, it's title-winning form.
Aberdeen are the biggest imposters in Scottish football. Four times they have played the Old Firm and have drawn twice against Rangers and narrowly lost twice to Celtic. They have also defeated Hearts and Hibs. They raise their game against the big guns.
Yet, their utterly pathetic weekend capitulation at Livingston – their first defeat there for 18 years – means they have now lost to Livingston, Dundee, St Mirren twice, St Johnstone and Dundee United.
They have won twice away in the league all season and the punters want manager Stephen Glass out.
How the bookies view it
Celtic are perhaps not as short as you might have expected. They can be backed at 6/10 with Boylesports. Aberdeen are 26/5 with SBK and the draw is 31/10 with bet365.
Recent head to heads
Celtic have beaten Aberdeen 2-1 at Pittodrie and at Parkhead this season with the north east encounter shown below. Aberdeen have an embarrassingly poor record against Celtic. They have failed to win in the last 12 meetings at Pittodrie and Celtic have won 23 of the last 27 meetings between the sides.
Players to watch
USA international Christian Ramirez has been just about the only bright spot of a dismal campaign for Aberdeen, He netted his 14th goal of the season at the weekend and is 3/1 with McBookie.com to score anytime.
Take your pick from a marauding Celtic front line – it looks like the whole team can score at the moment, but Jota was only a sub at Fir Park and will surely start here. The 15/8 with McBookie.com could be value.
Anything else catch the eye?
It would be just like Aberdeen to actually give Celtic a game here when by rights they should have no chance. They are infinitely better at Pittodrie than away and will probably go toe for toe with the Hoops. They aren't good enough to sit back.
That should absolutely make for a cracking game with Celtic's superior firepower backed to outscore Aberdeen. Celtic to win and both teams to score is a cracking price at 5/2 with McBookie.com.
Celtic's corner count is a celebrated earner on here and Aberdeen's game produced 12 at Livingston at the weekend. Therefore it would be a surprise if the 5/6 with bet365 for over 10.5 corners stays. since Celtic have now won at least ten corners on their own in their last four games
Finally, as a lively outsider at 9/2, take a punt on Aberdeen's new Dutch signing Vicente Besuijen to be shown a card with bet365 at 9/2. The ref is Willie Collum who takes a particularly dim view of players going to ground too easily, shall we say!
