PUNTERS love goals bets but there’s no doubt the absence of fans has downgraded the scores.
When looking at both to score or overs stats there is no asterisk that says behind closed doors.
The return of the Premier League saw 20 goals scored in nine games before Man City battered Burnley 5-0.
English top-flight games average more than 2.5 so that’s a downturn. And it was worse in the Championship with 25 goals in 12 clashes and both teams scoring in only five.
So when looking for goals we need to use stats and a bit of gut feeling until crowds are restored. Avoid meaningless games like the plague and focus on sides in form who need a result.
It’s tougher this weekend with the FA Cup quarter-finals taking place and just two Premiership matches.
Norwich v Man Utd
Let’s start with doomed Norwich at home to in-form Manchester United in the Cup.
The Canaries looked lost as they were thumped 3-0 at home to Southampton last week before going down 1-0 at home to Everton. United have steamrollered the strugglers 3-1 and 4-0 this season with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial netting five between them.
Martial bagged a treble against Sheffield United in midweek and is 5-4 at Betfred to strike again. Over 2.5 goals starts my treble at 5-6 with BetVictor.
Aston Villa v Wolves
The only Premier League game today sees a Midlands derby between Aston Villa and Wolves.
Villa got out of jail last week when VAR didn’t notice Sheffield United had scored while Wolves have notched wins against struggling West Ham and Bournemouth. Both meetings this season have finished 2-1 to the home side while both have scored in the last three meetings at Villa Park. Over 2.5 goals pays 11-10 at bet365 and BetVictor.
Watford v Southampton
Complete the treble with Watford v Southampton in tomorrow’s only Premier League outing. Both have countered in the past three meetings at Vicarage Road and the two sides have returned with their eye on the ball.
Three meetings have totalled 13 goals and there could be a few more this time. Over 2.5 goals pays evens at BetVictor for this one so the treble returns 7-1 with the same firm.
Over 2.5 Goals Treble
- Norwich City v Man United
- Aston Villa v Wolves
- Watford v Southampton
- (7-1, BetVictor)
In fact betting on every Premier League and Championship Game since the restart to be BTTS No or Under 2.5 goals would have made us all a handy profit.
