LIVERPOOL have the chance to go joint top of the Premier League if they can beat Man Utd tonight in what Sky Sports are billing as “Red Monday” and here's what Selectabet thinks from a Spread Betting perspective.

It could be “red” Monday in more ways than one at Anfield tonight. This fixture has seen the second highest number of red cards in the Premier league era, with 16 being dished out – only the Merseyside Derby tops that with a whopping 21 –  and with pressure already being applied to referee Anthony Taylor by both sides we could be in for a few cards in tonight's match.

Comments about the ref by Jose Mourinho are set to be investigated by the FA after he responded to criticism from Liverpool fans about the decision to award Taylor the game. The Merseysiders are concerned about Taylor's impartiality given he lives just 6.2 miles from Old Trafford.

Taylor is establishing himself as one of the most trusted refs in the League. He's yet to hand out any red cards this season although none of his 7 matches to date fall in to the “powderkeg” category. Last season he brandished 5 red cards in 31 and awarded yellows at a rate of 3.45 per match.

The match being played under the Anfield lights will heighten the sense of drama tonight and given what's at stake and Jose Mourinho's “win at all costs” approach I'm happy to take on a bookings spread. SpreadEx have Man Utd booking points at 32-36. Remember a booking counts for 10 points and a red card counts for 25, the maximum a player can earn is 35. With the likes of Fellaini (3 bookings this season) and Rooney (also 3) likely to feature there's always the possibility of them picking up a card so I'm looking to buy 36 bookings points for Man Utd.

For those new to spread betting keep your stakes low, as you can lose money as well as win on these kind of bets.
