Top Football Tips

IT'S been a weekend of Super Single winners and near misses on the trebles.

Man United winning at 10-11 followed Leicester and Ipswich -1 as I made it three in a row.

But both trebles were beaten by one goal – Familcao downed the both to score treble and Rangers were one short on the Top Treble. James Tavernier's missed penalty – his third of the season – didn't help but by most accounts Motherwell were unlucky to leave Ibrox with nothing.

There were loads of winners on a decent day including Greg but a special mention to HullShaker who put up six winners out of eight.

Liverpool battled to a 2-1 win against Spurs and are 20-1 with Coral to go through the season unbeaten in the Premier League. The leaders are 4-5 in the outright market with Man City evens.

In the top-four betting, Arsenal are out to 11-8 (from 5-4) and Unai Emery has been cut to 11-8 (from 7-4) not to be with the Gunners for the final game of the Premier League season after a 2-2 draw at home to Crystal Palace.

It's a pretty quiet Monday ahead of a busy midweek domestic card. In the Championship we have QPR v Brentford and that promises goals – and remember Greg likes a late one at Loftus Road – while in Portugal it's Braga v Santa Clara.

It's not been easy finding a double but I've decided on btts at QPR and under 3.5 goals at Braga. Three of the last four meetings between QPR and Brentford at Loftus Road have brought up btts and over 3.5 goals and both sides have been scoring and conceding.

Santa Clara are an unders team – take away last week's 3-0 cup win at Olivereinse and their last 11 went under 2.5 goals and they scored once in five on the road. Braga are the opposite with their last three at home totalling four goals but two were against Slovan Bratislava in the Europa League and Benfica.

This has every chance of going under 2.5 but for less risk take under 3.5 at around 2-5.

There's a big lower-league card in Scotland on Tuesday and I'll post a preview later but one price that looks too big is Edinburgh City at home to Stenhousemuir. City have a 100 per cent home record and face a side that's just been embarrassed in the Scottish Cup.

Stenny lost 3-0 at Lowland League Penicuik and the manner of the defeat must be a concern to manager Davie Irons who took over earlier this month and led his side to victory against Cove Rangers. Stenny are unbeaten away in the league, three draws and a win, but the Penicuik humbling must have knocked their confidence.

I'm taking Edinburgh City at 20-23 with Coral as an early Super Single.

Cupla games in Armenia this morning and both look good for goals but I’m taking the one involving 2 of the top 3 scorers in the division….

    Alashkert II v West Armenia

The home sides 11 games have seen 51 goals with 35 scored & 16 conceded

    3-1,4-1,0-0,7-1,2-3,1-2,3-3,2-1,1-0,5-1,7-0

The away sides 11 games have seen 49 goals with 32 scored and 17 conceded

    3-0,3-0,5-2,3-2,3-1,0-1,5-4,2-,3-2,3-3,2-1

    GL o3.0,3.5 – 4/5

In the other the home side should win but by how many,I’m taking a punt on the Asian handicap to put it in a double…

Alashkert II v West Armenia o3.0,3.5 GL
    Lokomotiv – 2.0 AH

    12/5 double

Not much on today but I like the look of the Indian Super league fixture this afternoon for goals.

Goa are a free-scoring team at home whilst Bengaluru are a pretty leaky side on the road. The visitors are however generally good for a goal – have scored in their last 4 away games, all of which saw both teams on the scoresheet with a total of 3 or more match goals.

Both teams to score & O2.5 MGls appeals, but I’m sticking to Overs only for this one, given that Goa have a few clean sheets under their belt at home.

    Over 2.5 MGls
    4/5
    2 POINTS

    Best of luck.

They were really good last season idk if teams sussed them out or what so far this season. I think 9/2 for top 7 is available and i am tempted to have a slice. Cheers pal if you can

Evening Jamie – sorry, just in and hadn’t seen your post until now.

I had Fylde as one of my anteposts for promotion so that tells you how much I fancied them pre-season!

They have been dire though and not sure if any new manager will turn that form around at this point in the season – but, they are a side that will move up through the divisions at some point and Bentley is a genuinely great footballing man.

The fact he survived 8 years at Morecambe (longer than any other manager in the top 4 divisions!) on a shoestring budget speaks volumes but I’m not convinced he can get a good enough tune out of this team to claw their way back in to the top 7 which lays 12 points beyond their grasp.

I hope they do but I can’t see it mate – better bets to be had ?

    Mr F

Motherwell had one shot on target and scored they offered nothing except packing the 18 yard box with 8/9 players.

Rangers didn’t play well admittedly but deservedly managed to break down the Motherwell defensive 10 to get all 3 points. On another day we would have scored a couple more.

Hudson Rangers got to a UEFA Cup final using those same park the bus tactics…..do you want them too come and play open football just to suit Rangers agenda and then get a hammering

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

That’s the way teams of lesser quality need to play at Ibrox and Celtic Park – or they’ll probably get hammered.
Gerrard praised Motherwell and Robinson reckoned his side were robbed by the ref.

    • Avatar of danny higgins

From what i seen of the highlights Motherell missed at least 2 good chances .

    • Avatar of Hudson
      hudson 5 years ago

Mr H – I wasn’t criticising Motherwell for their tactics, they can play how they like, it’s up to us to break them down – I was unhappy with the comment that “by most accounts Motherwell were unlucky to leave Ibrox with nothing.” when they certainly did not!

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit

Try telling that to Robinson. He says if he said what he thought about the ref Dallas he’d get a 20-game ban.

    • Avatar of Heather Kane

Whats the point in playing a game and not trying to win it. Dunfermline gave it a go v Celtic and nearly won the game at Parkhead.Villa were the same v Man.C. on Sat . playing to hit on the break which does not suit them.

Just a quick question. Does anyone remember when Paddypower had what I guess you’d call a betting results page? It gave you the outcomes for all the betting markets and you could check the winning result and odds. I used to use it when I followed the darts because it told you the number of 180s and the highest checkout in each match and what the odds were on the winning bets. I’ve been trying to find it again on Paddy but without success. Does it still exist or has it been removed? It is going back a few years since I last used it. I’m guessing no other bookie has a similar results page? Hope this makes sense.

Personally not sure but if its darts related stats you’re after use this http://live.dartsdata.com/ it’ll have all the 180 and player checkout info for each calendar month including yesterday’s European Championship.

Looking ahead to Wednesday and Celtic at home to St Mirren, the Paisley outfit will be dreading the short trip to Glasgows eastend. Celtic o3.5tgls is more than achievable at 6-4 and they’ve scored 4 in the previous 2 homes too St Mirren. I don’t see St Mirren laying a glove on Celtic having scored just 5 times in 10 outings and With that in mind it’s Celtic on the handicaps…

    Early single for tomorrow

    Man City v Southampton
    City to win both halves
    Over 7 corners
    Sterling to score anytime
    Aguero to score anytime
    11/4

City to win both halves as a single at 5/6 looks some bet too.

Well done winners today, as been said its quite rare to see one game make so many punters go to bed with a beaming smile on their faces.
Greg and Mr carpet called it perfectly and many tweaked it their way.
As Paul Daniels would say *that’s magic*
