AT least I had a reason to back against England – but what about all you Three Lions on your shirt wearers.
Gareth Southgate's men blew away tens of thousands of coupons with a thrilling 3-2 win in Spain.
Not many if any saw that coming and it helped beat my 1pt Top Treble. Well done to all the winners on the night including HullShaker with his England bookings and his penalty bet should have landed but Jordan Pickford got away with one.
The latest round of Nations League matches finish on Tuesday night with games including France v Germany and Ireland v Wales. There are also real friendlies such as Brazil v Argentina in Jeddah and Belgium v Holland.
I'm not willing to stake much on these games so it's a 1pt treble like yesterday. Start with France to score 2+ in their Nations League clash at home to a German side that looks out of sorts and was badly beaten 3-0 by Holland last week.
The Germans have kept just one clean sheet in 11 but France's 2-2 draw with Iceland from 2-0 last week was a worry and it wasn't until the introduction of Kylian Mbappe they looked a force. France should win but to score 2+ could be the safer bet.
An alternative to this is over 2.5 match goals and that's where I'm going with the Belgium v Holland friendly – a match between two high-scoring sides although it might be worth checking line-ups before committing to this.
Finally back a strong looking Brazil against Argentina in their glamour friendly. Neymar, Jesus, Coutinho and Co look in the mood and as always an Argentina side without Lionel Messi is a less dangerous one. Lionel Sebastian Scaloni is likely to focus on defence so it could be a low scorer.

In Andorra’s last two matches (both Nations League fixtures) they conceded 12 corners without reply in Georgia and 11 without reply at home to today’s opponent Kazakhstan. That first match between the two really was a one sided event despite the 1-1 scoreline; Kazakhstan had 88 dangerous attacks compared to Andorra’s 8 and racked up 11 corners despite playing away and with ten men for a portion of the match. With home advantage Kazakhstan should again be able to display their dominance and this will no doubt be a one sided corner contest allowing the set handicap to be applied.

Onto Tuesday’s card and I can’t but help notice the game at Gigg this evening – it may be the EFL Trophy but it could be well worth putting on the ‘games with goals’ list…
BURY VS. LEICESTER U21:
Despite the early and pre-season sceptcism, The Shakers find themselves knocking on the door of the play-off places which most honest fans would say is beyond their hopes and aspirations for a campaign that looked pretty bleak from the outset.
If we could actually defend it would be an even better picture but the fact is we can’t! We have looked better going forward and have certainly shown a bit more resilence from losing positions but just 2 clean sheets in 14 matches points to a suspect defence that will likely struggle under the scrutiny of a free-scoring Leicester ‘youth’ setup.
The alternative Foxes have hit the net twice in each of the 4 EFL matches played since November last year with each game being pitched against very similar sides to Bury in the shape of Fleetwood, Oldham, Scunny and Morecambe on the road.
It’s likely we’ll make a good few changes as
a result of our usual wafer-thin and injury hit squad so I can hardly see it being a war of attrition with both sides players looking to go for it from the off – I can see goals and I can see both contributing!

The bookies are starting to cotton on to certain Hibernian bets by giving shorter odds or simply just not giving odds at all, one such bet was Mallan to score from outside the box which has been one of the best money makers in football betting I have ever had the pleasure of taking part in
On Saturday one thing is certain, if Celtic are going to win they will have to be at their best to beat the best footballing side in Scotland and Hibernian go there with me fully expecting an away win, the 9/1 on offer was always too big but that’s long gone now.
Celtic Vs Hibernian looks a cracker and while Celtic are strong favourites I think the bookies are dismissing Hibernian too easily when they have so many options going forward while being so strong at the back,
Celtic and Hibernian are first and third when it comes to goals conceded per game, Celtic conceding an average of 0.5 goals per game and Hibernian 0.72 goals per game, goals per game doesn’t tell all the story though as it’s also shots allowed per game that shows how well both defences are playing, Celtic are allowing an average of 6.61 shots per game while Hibernian are allowing 7.55 shots per game which puts these two teams as the top two defences in the league for shots allowed per game,
Hibernian seem to have found the missing link for their defence with Mark Milligan as Defensive Midfielder, while Milligan has been on the pitch Hibernian haven’t conceded a goal which’s about 400 minutes, whether it’s a back three of Hanlon, Porteous and Ambrose or a back four with Gray in there we are looking strong, when Efe Ambrose or Gray goes forward Milligan is there to cover, all our defenders have been excellent so far and Porteous has been outstanding managing to keep McGregor out the team, we also have two top class keepers now with Bogdan coming in and covering for the injured Marciano
Hibernian’s top two forwards of Kamberi and Maclaren haven’t really had the chance to strike up their partnership yet but with our other forwards Shaw, Allan and Gallan we have enough firepower up front
It’s Midfield that really stands out for us though, most people thought we couldn’t replace last seasons players of McGinn, McGeouch, Allan and Barker but Lennon couldn’t have recruited better midfielders in Stevie Mallan who has scored nine goals so far and all of them have been from outside the box, Lennon also brought in midfielders Daryl Horgan, Emerson Hyndman, Mark Milligan, Thomas Agyepong,
Hibernian like to use width and we have three players in the top eleven of the league for crosses into the box with average crosses per game of Boyle 5.2 Horgan 5.1 and Gray 4.8
It’s not just a threat out wide that we possess, it’s also through the middle with the likes of Mallan, Horgan and Hyndman who can split the opposition defence with a pass,
Hibernian are averaging 2.38 goals per game which is more than any other team, infact Rangers are the only other team to average over 2 goals per game on 2.12
While the stats for Celtic’s defence say that they don’t give the opposition many chances they haven’t played a team with as many attacking options as Hibernian which is why I am confident we can make enough chances to score goals, when we attack we attack in numbers at pace
