Top Football Tips

IT was a pretty quiet Monday but I managed to pick a winning treble with a little help from my friends.

Derby fan Nathan was super confident about his side winning or at least drawing at Huddersfield so I took them not to lose. Shortee made a good case for Bodo Glimt winning but again I took less risk on the double chance.

My third pick was all my own work with Djurgardens draw no bet at Elfsborg. They won 1-0 to bring up a 23-10 treble and what a nice aways treble that would have been at around 20-1.

Cheers to shortee and nathan for their good work and it's been a great start to August and it's always nice to bank some early profit as I might need it. Well done to all the other winners.

Tuesday sees the return of the Champions League qualifiers with matches including PAOK v Ajax, Dinamo Zagreb v Ferencvaros and Bruges v Dynamo Kiev. In the Europa League there are three ties including Sutjeska v Linfield.

I put up an early Super Single on Monday although it was a risky one without team news. There are first round games in the Challenge Cup on Tuesday and Lowland League title favourites Kelty Hearts make their tournament debut.

Kelty, managed by Barry Ferguson, are hugely ambitious and signed four senior players in the summer including striker Nathan Austin from Inverness. That was a bit of a coup as he's good enough to still be playing at Championship level.

Hearts have started with two league wins and as long as they go strong should beat Kilmarnock Colts. The young senior teams have mainly struggled in this competition against older and more experienced professionals. I got them at 17-10 with McBookie where they are now 21-20.

For a Top Treble I'm taking both to score at PAOK, an impressive Dinamo Zagreb to edge a home win and Red Star Belgrade draw no bet at home to Copenhagen and they'll probably need to a lead to take to Denmark.

High-scoring PAOK will be hoping to take advantage against a much-changed Ajax who have lost top stars Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt. The Dutch drew 2-2 at the weekend and will obviously be weakened from the brilliant side that reached the semis last season.

There are also National League games and other English cup ties but that's all from me – check out the thread for other tips.

Nice treble Mr F and good input from Nathan and shortee.

Massive card tomorrow within a full fixture list from the National League, Conference North and south and the Scottish Challenge cup games

Mr F has already pointed out that the colt teams struggle in this competition and with no Reserve league you’ll find most clubs have a large % of their young players out on loan. Kelty look a great shout at 17/10

Really interested in St Johnstone u21 v Cove Rangers – the Aberdeen side are 5/4

One exception is Rangers u21 – be interesting to see how they line up against Berwick but are a bit short at 8/13

Even St Johnstone would beat Berwick so that’s probably one for Rangers Colts.
Also like East Kilbride at St Mirren Colts – they held their first team in the Betfred Cup.

I agree with your btts call in the Ajax game. Ajax is vulnerable at the back at the moment and some new players need to adapt to each other. Some of the key players only played 1 game because they just got back from vacation (africa cup, copa america). Ajax will probably try to get at least a draw here and will try to score an away goal to finish it off at home next week.

Always a pleasure to post a solid tip, especially in the first game of the season.
From what I could make of it, Derby imposed their game on Huddersfield early and Lawrence ( not often brings his A’ game ) brought it. A calamitous mix up reminiscent of Marriot’s goal against Leeds, saw on onrushing Huddersfield keeper get in a mess with his own defender and a cheeky lob seemed deserved. 3 minutes later and Lawrence’s clever feet found space to place a nice curl past their keeper again. It looked like it was going to be a cricket score and a terrible day at the office for the locals, but as I was about to post, Derby gave a silly penalty away and it was 2-1. Derby kept at it until halftime and Huddersfield came out with a renewed sense of belief. I wouldn’t say we sweated, They had their moments but much of the play belonged to the Terriers in the 2nd half. It stayed 1-2 to Derby.
I have a bit of a deja-vu feeling about Huddersfield. This happened to Derby after our season in the premiership. We had 1 win all season, got relegated and freefell towards a relegation scrap under Phil Brown. I think Nigel Clough was in the stands watching a cup game against Man Utd and we won it. He steered us away from the dropzone and we spent the next few seasons catching up.
If Huddersfield don’t get to grips with life back in the championship, they could have 3 or 4 months of looking at the fixtures wondering where the points are gonna come from. It’s very tough to turn around a slide down the table. Huddersfield need to start quicker, they have a couple of dangerous players up front, I hope they use them.
Derby’s new boy loanee Clarke made an inpact and even though our Everton signing was the culprit for the penalty, he wasn’t that bad.
And all this without Shinnie, Marriott and our new record buy on the field.
On a separate note, we are again above Forest.
It’s Swansea at home next and that game is winnable. I think we’re waiting on Marriot’s fitness and possibly a game or two from Bielik or Shinnie to have a sniff.
Derby have also shown an interest in Wayne Rooney as a player/coach. I just hope it doesn’t end like Edgar Davids move to Barnet if it happens. Will share as soon as I know some.
Points to note, Derby never contributed to the corners count I believe and I think there were no cards all match. I’ll have to check stats but I think I’m right.

one game of interest for me today is torquay united vs solihull moors and imsure BIXIEUPNORTH will have some say also

torquay have scored in the last 19 of the last 20 games and just a 0-1 to hungerford stopped that. in the 20 games they have won 15 off them and scored over 1.5 TEAM goals in 13 of them.

torquay have won their last 4 away games also scoring 1-3-5-4 goals and scored in their last 9 away games in a row

solihull moors have won 1 game in their last 5 at home and only scored 4 goals in 5 games.

Price and value for torquay is high IMO and its second game into the season and of course always going to be some shocks *bookie price wise* but torquay dont deserve to be a 13/5 shot and im siding with the better market of torquay to score at 4/9 as i do feel its just too high going on their stats.

Doubling this up with an ebbsfleet side who know how to score and how to concede.
ebbsfleet have scored in their last 5 in a row AWAY from home and in a row all together and all of these have seen BTS achieved

    ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽

    Nap

torquay to score 1+ goal 4/9

hmmm, here i am!! its an interesting game this evening, solihull were last season’s mega surprises, tim flowers runs a very tight ship there and they got a very creditable draw at one of the more fancied teams, harrogate, 2-2. so they’re obviously up for goals being conceded at this early stage. as indeed are we, keeping a clean sheet has been our achilles heel, altho as GJ seems to favour the kevin keegan approach to football we have mostly outscored every team we played since he took over, albeit in the league below and largely against part timers.

hes been quoted as saying that we’ll be more cautious this season against potentially much better, stronger and fitter full time sides. but i honestly don’t believe him!! we have the skills to score against anyone if we play to our potential. completley agree with shortee’s torquay to score tip and i love the thought of six points in the bag after tonight. i’m cautious tho as the defence is always prone so something slightly dubious, i’m going to recommend btts as my nap (8/11), but hopefully we’ll come out tops in a 3 or 4 goal thriller , torquay win over 2.5 11/2 and over 3.5 14/1!! impressive prices but as i say i’m cautious as this is abig step up from last season! reid, little, duku to score

the future’s bright, the future’s yellow!!

    LIBERTAD vs OLIMPIA (12.30am)

Some great looking bets here and, as Elander has already mentioned, Olimpia will pull in a lot of punters with their form.

Funny things these Asuncion derbies though and Libertad are in pretty mean form themselves – I’ve just got a sneaking suspicion Olimpia won’t have it all their own way!

Team goals could be fruitful and certainly both sides to net but there just isn’t enough value in the prices – instead I’m taking a different angle for a lower stake at a bigger price.

Paraguayan games have a habit of switching on in the second 45 and this was certainly evidenced in Cerro’s game last night and a good few others recently. Not one to go mad on.

    Recommended Bet:

Both sides to score in second half
    (2-1, bet365) 👎

Final score 2-0 to Libertad – my thinking was right in swerving Olimpia but the rotten b*stards could have at least netted in that 2nd half!

Good luck with your bets today Hull. 🤞

Was looking at this game earlier and was tempted by the correct score 1-0, 2-0, 3-1 with BetVictor at 17/10. Would be interested to hear your opinion there’s some value in this as I thought this could be a very realistic outcome!?!

Morning Hunter – I’m not a big fan of score bracket type bets to be honest mate. Not that it might not come in and all are realistic scorelines but Fylde could potentially hit 4 against ‘Chorrleh’. Personally think there’s better value taking Fylde to score 3+ at a meatier 7/4!

The away side, Syrianksa are terrible. They lost their last four games 13-0, 5-1, 3-2, 5-0.

    AFC Champions league
Today sees Qatari sparring partners al duhail and al sadd meet in the first leg of their last 16 tie. I’ve been over the course numerous times about al sadd and their scoring prowess so won’t go into massive detail, but the last 12 meetings have seen btts/o2.5. (btts/o3.5 in 9 of those) Needless to say despite being a first leg I think we will see more of the same today- these 2 teams only know how to play 1 way and that’s on the front foot and attacking. Throw in the fact that it’s the first of 3 meetings in 10 days and I think both will be out to seek an advantage in the first game. Xavi has retired and will no longer be in the away sides midfield, but at 39 it was probably for the best, but he’s actually only moved to the dugout and is now al sadd boss, so I think we’ll see a continuation of the potent attacking side from the past few seasons. Algerian strike king bounedjah 39 league goals in 22 games) will still be up front and I expect him to find the net today.

Derby have signed Wayne Rooney on an 18 month contract as player/coach. He’ll be working with the academy and first team but we have to wait until the MLS season finishes in November. He won’t be taking part with the rams in this new role until January though. I don’t know if there is a fee involved because he’d be arriving with 18 months left on his contract with DC united who are still shooting for a playoff slot.
I think it is a good signing, he’s Man Utd’s record goal scorer, Yes, he’s 33 – but he still wants to play. If he’s got the legs in him and he can pass on some of his experience to the young kids, then it could be very lucrative for the club.

    • Avatar of Nath
      nathanufton 5 years ago

Middlesbrough’s chairman has just been called to Harley Street for a routine triple bypass on hearing the following news:

      How the shrewd and savvy deal for Rooney has been brokered to keep us in line with FFP;
“After the announcement of Rooney’s move, the Rams revealed they signed a new club-record sponsorship deal with shirt sponsors 32Red.
Wayne Rooney’s January move to Derby has been partially funded by gambling firm 32Red.
It’s understood the deal will cost around £100,000 a week and will be supported by commercial sponsors as Derby work to comply with financial fair play guidelines.
The average wage for Championship players is £20,000-a-week which is significantly less than Rooney’s future salary.
Rooney will also wear the number 32 shirt, despite the number seven, 12, 13, 15 and 18 (the number he wore at his first spell at Everton) being vacant.

If we’re that bad, then why are Forest sniffing around Scott Carson? You’ve 4 keepers already on your payroll, unless you’re planning on playing them all in the starting 11. I saw the highlights of your opening game. One thought only crossed my mind.. Were your keepers gloves sponsored by Lurpak?
If nobody cares, then how come it’s all over the news? We sign a player with over 250 goals and a few years left in him, but Forest sign a player with 14 goals. Good luck in the coming season.

If it raises the profile of the whole league, it equates to a bigger slice of the pie for everyone, plus I thought it was a genius marketing move. I do expect this to be a catalyst for other similar shirt sponsor – big name signings with other teams. As has been said before, if you don’t like what I post, then scroll past it.

Basle’s last 7 have seen goals at both ends, including two ding-dongs with PSV in the last round.
Lask have scored in their last 14 games and opened up Austrian league campaign with a 2-0 win and (on paper) impressive 3-0 win away to Austrian stalwarts Austria Vienna…
Also think Rosenborg stand a good chance of beating the bet365 goal time of 79 minutes at 5-6.
Well done Mr f and all winners over the weekend, I’ve enjoyed following.
Good luck all with your bets this week 👍

Only on Rangers u21 tonight, caught the early price of evens and its been smashed into 1/3 and 2/7 in places.

One first team player starts,Grezda, is no longer in the plans and rumoured on going back to ligue 1. Rest of Rangers top youth players that arent out on loan start, guys like Barjonas, Houston and Mebude should be too strog against a Berwick side that hasnt won in months.

Dont have time to go through the minefield of the league cup, avoiding.

    FEYENOORD – DINAMO TBILISI

I already suggest laying Feyenoord or backing the double chance Dinamo. I expect a good drift on the Feyenoord win odd. Feyenoord is a big club by name, but they don’t perform like it and they are missing 2 key players with the likes of Jorgensen en Toornstra. Last sunday they dropped 2 points at home to newcomer in the league Sparta and their defence was a mess once again.

It’s a Europa League qualifier and the game will be played thursday evening btw. Feyenoord too short with only being 3/10

I agree Feyenoord are way too short to back. You never know in this stage of the season and Feyenoord had some poor performances in Europe the last couple of years. On the other hand I think it is difficult to gauge the strenght of a team like Dinamo Tblisi. I don’t know if you can compare them to Eredivisie teams. The only bet I like from this game is Steven Berghuis to score anytime for just over evens. It is arguably their best player and a proven goalscorer.

If you had that on a double, would the bookies mark the price down or refuse it on the likelihood of it being a contingency bet?

    Champs League Qualifiers
    PAOK vs Ajax
    PAOK Over 2.5 Cards
    41/20 @ 888 *NAP*

**LOST** – Crappy couple of days for me! Some dubious decisions however with a good bit of leniency from the ref, I’m pretty sure strong shoves to the ground from a opponent with no intention of playing the ball in dangerous areas of the pitch are a bookable offence, someone correct me if I’m wrong 🤔

NOT a NAP, but having a half stake bet on this.

    Bolivian league 8-30 pm
    Bolivar v destroyers.
    Destroyers to score 13-8 (hills).

Bolivar gone goal bonkers since the break scoring and conceding loads, destroyers suck away, but beat wilsterman home last time so hoping they net a consolation

Will pay same as a normal nap for half stake so had to give it a go.
