Top Football Tips

THERE is a decent card on Tuesday with the first of the EFL Cup quarter-finals and four games in the Bundesliga.

Aberdeen face Dundee in the Scottish Premiership and I'll post a separate preview while there are other previews already up so check them out.

The EFL Cup matches are Leicester v Man City and Middlesbrough v Burton while in Serie A it's Bologna v Milan.

There are other games dotted about Europe so hoping to pick out a double or treble in the morning.

Well done to all the winners last night – my only bet was on a draw at Derby v Forest which came up. I also suggested a stalemate at Alaves with the double paying 10-1.

After a dead day yesterday I've got some catching up to do so starting off with a Bundesliga treble and keeping it fairly simple.

Start with leaders Borussia Dortmund at Fortuna Dusseldorf. Dortmund are unbeaten home and away and enjoy a nine-point lead over Bayern Munich. Add second-placed Borussia Monchengladbach at home to Nurnberg as they aim to maintain their 100 per cent home record with an eighth win.

I could have completed the treble with Wolfsburg at home to Stuttgart but instead taking Hertha Berlin +1 at home to Augsburg. Hertha have lost just once at home and should bounce back from defeat at Sturttgart to beat a side that's taken just one point in five games.

Remember to look at welovebetting for their tips and video chat.

3pts Top Treble

  • B M'gladbach (5.30pm)
  • B Dortmund (7.30pm)
  • Hertha Berlin +1 (7.30pm)
  • (2-1, McBookie)

    M’gladbach > 2.5 TGS 5/4
Cracking home form. They average 3 goals scored per game. Up against Nurnberg with the worst away record in the Bundesliga averaging over 3.5 goals conceded per game. 3,4,3,4 in their last at home – the last 3 against teams with similar poor away form- Stuttgart, Hannover & Dusseldorf. 3 (Munich), 5 (Schalke), 6 (Leipzig) the worst woes on Nurnberg’s travels. Hope Hazard, Plea, Rafael et al are firing in this earlier evening KO.
    GL all today!!

    Leicester City v Man City
Man City to win -1.5 asian handicap at 2.010(NAP)*****
I think the odds here are pretty good considering how serious City take this comp, even so i would expect a few players to be rested. No matter who City bring in there will be quality through out, enough to win this game. What interests me though is the extra games this cup brings and with City pushing for the title and Champions league i can only see this hindering them and lessening their chances of the big cups, however i do see City winning by a couple here and with Mahrez likely to play he should be good for a goal. Also i hear Vardy is likely to be rested which is interesting given the opposition/correct score 1-3
    Best of luck

I’m no expert in Asian U21 international football but Vietnam face a Myanmar side they beat 5-2 last Wednesday and they beat them2-0 in the same tournament last year. Vietnam – 1 is priced invitingly at 37/40 and ill have a bit of that.

Turkish cup game at the same time with 2 teams a cupla divisions apart as 3liga side 1461 Trabzon play 1liga team Umraniyespor. The first leg finished 4-1 too Umraniyespor and hoping for much of the same today. The home side have netted in 13/16 homes and the away side have netted in 14/16 aways, hoping this leads too o2.5mgls at 4/7

    Over 2.5 @ 4/7 (TUR Turkish Cup, Total Goals – Over/Under 2.5)
    Vietnam U21 (-1) @ 37/40 (U21 Internationals, 3 Way Handicap (-1))

Macca I see the Liverpool and United fans having a regular ding dong on here, infact it’s worse than us Celtic & Rangers lads 😂 😂 😂 but as a neutral looking in on English football United are in trouble and Mourinhos departure won’t solve it. A new man might get them playing better and improve results but it doesn’t paper over the cracks that tgrir playing staff are inferior too Liverpool and City man for man. Arsenal, Spurs amd Chelsea all have multiple players that would walk into Uniteds side too. For a united too get bsck too that level it’s going too take hundreds of millions and a few years. The post Fergie era was always going to be tough but they’ve made a right horses erse of it for years

I think he had to go. Results might not improve right away but the playing side might.
At some clubs you need to play with a certain panache – Liverpool, Man Utd and Celtic are three that come to mind.
Jose’s defensive style was never going to be a good fit with the fans.

Breaking News: Andy Tate new caretaker Manager at Manchester United

  6. Avatar of Ian Jones
    iaabh22 6 years ago

Manchester United have now gone through a series of good managers since Fergie left.

I suspect that the problem is not with the manager but higher up. The players also do not seem to have bought into any of the managers since Ferguson.

A new manager will need to have a better board who will back him. He will need to clear out the poison in the dressing room regardless of cost.

Man U like Liverpool could be waiting a long time for another title.

    • Avatar of Brian Hendry
      mr h 6 years ago

I disagree with that….. Moyes took the brunt of the Fergie era ending and struggled because he was out of his depth plain and simple. Van Gaal and Mourinho arent the most liked of characters hence their short spells at almost every club they’ve ever managed so player relations are down too them mostly not the board of directors. Both Van Gaal and Mourinho were backed in the transfer market and failed miserably

    • Avatar of Sean Ireland
      sean ireland 6 years ago

Problem lies with the fact that they have no sporting director instead having that wooden head aacountant ed woodward over seeing recruitment, looking at the managers transfer requests then re writing them to suit himself with his inept knowledge of football every season, that needs sorted before any appointment to the BIGGEST club in world football.Cant be easy being scouse never feeling the sun beside the mersey because of the huge shadow cast from Old Trafford

    • Avatar of mark edley

    • Avatar of Harlee Clark

iaabh22 – Moyes decided to remove Fergusons team such as Mike Phelan, Renne Mulesteen etc. Had those guys still been around we might be having different conversations today. Ultimately style of play was P!SS poor so we moved on.

Again with Van Gaal dubious signings such as Blind, Schinderlin, Falco, Di-maria, Depay, Rojo & Darmian didn’t help his cause and a unwilling-less to drop Rooney again with a pragmatic style of play. Had he hit success with a few of those signings he would’ve been afforded more time. That’s 7 useless player and quite frankly awful.

Mourinho again has made signings and we look even more clueless than Moyes reign. Problem with Mourinho we’re playing 5-3-2 with Darmian, Mctominay & Phil Jones in the same team it’s admitting defeat.

Had the squad been playing attractive football and becoming unlucky with results probably a different question. Mourinho 2 1/2 years into his role doesn’t know what his best team is -_-.

I agree with you on the back room comments though. If one things is for sure Woodhead definitely needs to get the chop for even giving Mourinho the contract he has had to pay 24 million for just 10 months after signing it.

The bigger sides Bologna played at home so far resulted in multi corner counts greater than the line tonight with counts of 42, 30 & 25 against Fiorentina, Roma and Inter Milan respectively. AC Milan’s last five League away matches have all cleared tonight’s multi corner line with counts of 36, 30, 42, 45 & 30.

FA Trophy action that draws my attention tonight and I suspect the bookies have let a little value in with their pricing of one game in particular…

SALFORD CITY VS. GATESHEAD (1945 KO):

It’s the first time Salford have ever reached the first round proper and I can’t see them resting too many of their first team players as they continue to raise their profile and march through the lower leagues.

Gateshead have a touch more cup pedigree having reached the semi finals last year before going out to Bromley – a repeat exit of their 2010 exploits which saw them exit in the same manners to subsequent winners Darlo.

More recently, both sides are having a good campaign with Gateshead occupying 7th place and Salford sitting pretty in 2nd spot just a point behind Leyton Orient in the National League.

The ‘Heed actually won the August H2H 2-1 up in the Northeast but Salford have kicked on since then and are in fine fettle with a home record that has seen them score 3-3-1-4-0-1-2-3-3-3-1-3-3-2 team goals in consecutive home fixtures since mid-August.

It ought to be a decent match and whilst Gateshead may contribute having netted in 80% of their last 10 away days, I fancy the hosts to grab a brace at a great price with you know who making an appearance st some point!

    Four selections to consider:

    SALFORD OVER 1.5 TGS…4/5
    (Bet365)

    SALFORD OVER 2.5 TGS…27/10

Guys. The big issue with most clubs in my opinion is the lack of ‘ Change Management’. The majority of players are resistant to change, and do not believe or trust the coach delivering the change. The culture to answer ‘ Why are we changing?’, and ‘ What are the risks of not changing?’. The main obstacle is answering the ‘ What’s in it for ME?’ question.

We all know most of the answers to these questions, the Fergie era was successful in some part to achieving solid ‘ Change Management’ across the business. Everyone should not underestimate this business process.

two postponed games in the FA Trophy now, so taken the 4 games going ahead for Over 2.5 Mgls @ 25/4 instead.
these last two are long shots therefore reflected in reduced stakes.

SPFL action tonight – it’s been tough to predict recently with some surprising results and some teams finding a bit of form. Aberdeen were my selection last week as the edged out Livingston and tonight they welcome a Dundee side who are showing signs of improvement in recent weeks.

    Aberdeen v Dundee (KO 7.45pm)

The Dons are quietly going about their business and back to back wins have put them right in the mix at the top end of the league.

They beat St Mirren 2-1 in Paisley on Saturday and the pleasing thing for boss Derek McInnes will be both strikers finding the net.

Scoring goals has been a probably for them this season but they finally look to have a bit of cutting edge back – they need to as they are still far from sound defensively having conceded two against St Johnstone, two against Livingston and one against St Mirren.

They welcome a Dundee side who have certainly turned the corner despite a some difficult matches. One defeat in five, draws against Rangers and Hibs and 4-0 hammering of Hamilton will give them belief they can get out of their current predicament and climb up the league.

A key factor for that has been veteran striker Kenny Miller – the 38 year old is rolling back the years and has 7 goals in his last 5 games and is looking to score in the 6th game in a row.

This will be a tough game for the Dons but they have a great record at home and have won the last 9 meetings with Dundee.

I did look at Aberdeen and over 1.5 match goals at 10/11, however Dundee are more than capable of scoring, especially the form Miller is in so going for goals at a decent price.

    Recommended Bet

    Over 2.5 match goals
    103/100 (Marathonbet)

Having been a Man United fan for 40 years I’ve seen managers come and go. I’ve waited 26 years for a league title and endured years of Liverpool dominating until we knocked them off their perch.
Never have I seen such boring football since the days of Dave Sexton from the day Fergie handed over to David Moyes.
The appointment of David Moyes was ultimately our downfall. He got rid of all the backroom staff and we’ve lost our identity. We’ve always played exciting football and for me the only way back is to get people in who know the club inside out and know what we stand for.
I think Michael Carrick will probably take over till the end of the season but the work needs to start now.
Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Gary Neville and the aforementioned Michael Carrick.
Between them we need to get this club it’s identity back. The rest will follow.

Manchester United, show some balls and give Eddie Howe the job.
Fed up with the same names banded about.
Show some faith in a bright young English manager, they have nothing to lose now, they won’t get top 4, so Howe could start with half a season to bed in, and he plays the vibrant football United seem to crave.

83 minutes gone and a 3rd for Salford – 3 out of 3 including the afternoon pick 😀

    (Bet365)
    🌟🌟🌟🌟

    ***WON***

    SALFORD OVER 2.5 TGS…27/10
    (Unibet)
    🌟

    ***WON***

    Dutch Cup wednesday

    ODIN 59 – Heerenveen

ODIN is a mid table third division side. They will play this game at the stadium of eerste divisie side Telstar.
I just can’t see Heerenveen have a lot of problems with this amateur team who don’t play at their own ground.
Heerenveen haven’t got a great season, but are still 8th in the Eredivisie. I m sure they will play their best team like they did in the last round. They can score with Zeneli (Kosovo striker) and Dutch talents Vlap and Lammers.
