Top Football Tips

THERE'S no Friday feeling with a serious lack of action so that will allow me to crack on with Saturday's tips.

I've posted a Super Single shortlist for members only and already there are several match previews from kevinmac and Scott Allot.

I'll add Rangers v Celtic, Hibs v Hearts and Liverpool v Arsenal previews on what really is a massive weekend with some huge games that could define title battles.

Liverpool will be well supported but 1-2 is a ridiculous price – not much shorter than second-placed Spurs at home to Wolves.

I'd also like to have seen Celtic bigger than evens but it is what it is and Rangers did themselves no favours by dropping points at home to Hibs on Boxing Day.

Apart from Liverpool, Spurs and Celtic sides I like include Leicester, Watford, Leeds, QPR, West Brom, Sunderland and Carlisle so some of them will feature on the VIP tips and tops tips.

All I can see on Friday is some Portuguese Cup games so if you're having a go at those then good luck. It will be a no bet day for me and it possibly should have done on Thursday.

In the end my over 2.5 goals treble was beaten by Lokeren v Bruges but that was the early game so no chance of even a reduced return.

Well done to any winners including Scott who fancied over 2.5 goals at Southampton v West Ham.

Remember to look at welovebetting for their tips and video chat.

I’m personally impressed by this Liverpool team. Its not just ‘potential champions’ behind the 1/2 price for Liverpool to beat Gunners. Its 30 + games unbeaten at Anfield now and 8 league wins on the bounce with only 2 goals conceded. Dropped 6 points all season and they were 3 draws against Spurs, city & chelsea. Not that anyone dont know about these stats, the price reflects the overall state of a club rather than the difference in players quality.
Obviously doesnt guarantee that Liverpool will win, but the way I look at the game is Arsenal have only had 3 clean sheets all season so far and only 1 since september against Huddersfield. We all know Arsenal can score goals but are they going to keep Liverpool out at Anfield? And with the Liverpool’s brilliant defense this season, can arsenal score more than once and not concede 2 or more? This looks like a perfect 2-1 win for Liverpool.
I’d tip Salah to score (he always does at Anfield) and Firmino has good scoring record against Gunners

I think the 1/2 is about right considering how hard it is for teams to win at Anfield. What i am more astounded with is the 14/5 on offer for Liverpool to win at Man City on the 3rd January, bookies have got this price wrong as i reckon Liverpool will win that game at a canter.

    Morning gents,

It was a day of no luck yesterday as Southampton failed to get their brace or penalty and my ‘psychological turnaround’ turned out to be a load of old flim-flam.

Onwards though and given the obscene amount of food I’ve shovelled down my gullet in the last few days, it’s quite fitting that I’ve turned my attention to the Feeder Leagues…

    TON PENTRE VS. HAVERFORDWEST COUNTY
    (1930 KO):

Welsh Division One outfit Ton Pentre may sound like a Swansea working men’s club tribute act but they are in fact a footballing side who are doing their best to chase a relegation spot – it’s not great to put it mildly and they are the division’s 3rd bottom side with the 2nd worst goal difference of -16 after just 14 games.

It’s not unusual for Ton Pentre to see plenty of goals in their games and a stonking 78% of this season’s games in all competition have seen 3 or more match goals with a further 50% seeing 4 or more – stats consolidated further if you consider 3 of their last 5 games have seen at least 5 match goals!

Haverfordwest will be heading into this one with high hopes; they sit a comfortable 2nd in the table and, at +24, have a goal difference that is 40 better than their opponents – they also have a recent and very decent away scoring record that indicates their capacity for goals-on-the-road having hit 3-5-1-2-1-3-3-2 in their last successive 9 away days.

Given the fact that Haverfordwest games have featured 3-6-3-5-4-7-6-3-3-4-1-8-3-3-3-3-11-2 match goals since August and 5 of the last 7 H2H’s saw both on the scoresheet, I reckon there might be mileage in this one seeing a few more with the green green grass of the home side not giving much of an advantage:

    MELBOURNE VICTORY VS. WELLINGTON PHOENIX
    (8.50 KO):

Not my usual stomping ground and plenty on the site with much better knowledge in Oz but I’ll stick my brief thoughts up.

Without trotting out the stats, there are 3 things that stand out in this fixture: cards (Kevin Muscat side – say no more!), both sides scoring and 2nd half goals – I’ve put together a speculative punt based on the above:

    BTTS 2ND HALF + OVER 4.5 CARDS…4.47/1

Spurs are flying at the minute beating Everton and Bournemouth scoring 11 goals in two games. They say Spurs are title challengers and it’s hard to disagree but they will miss Son for four weeks in January as he goes on military service so these games are all must win,i just think with Son gone they will lack a lot of creativity.Correct score 4-1

For what??he was pulled by the arm in the penalty area, anywhere else on the pitch and it’s a booking,so why isn’t it a penalty????He went down easy i grant you that but don’t most professional footballers do the same. For any Man Utd fans out there you wait until you play PSG and Neymar then you will learn what diving and cheating is.

They brought a rule in to stop this assimilation, but only 2 players have been done. Salam was a perfect example of this, but like you say plenty of others are doing it without Danny Murphy ‘s panel doing anything?

In the Melbourne Derby last week, I tipped City on the double chance and they duly obliged with a late equaliser.

Without Honda, Victory miss so much attacking fluidity, he is involved with so many of their goals whether he is scoring or assisting.

Wellington have been in fantastic form lately, with Krishna and in particular Singh really leading the line well, goals haven’t been a problem.

I have a feeling, that even without Honda, Victory will have too much for Wellington this morning. They had a lot of good chances last week against City and were unlucky not to score more.

    🌟SHORTEE’S 3pm NAP🌟

Starting off with Cambridge Utd v Lincoln. Two sides sitting at opposite ends of the table and I was very surprised to see Lincoln at evens and more important 1/2 for DNB. Lincoln top of the table and scoring 42 goals goals compared to Cambridge 21 which is exactly double the amount. They also have one of the tightest defensives behind mk dons and Mansfield with only 22 conceded. Im happy on recent form to take them at DNB as last 5 for Cambridge only been scored 2 and concede 7

Next up is a trip to league 1 and Portsmouth will be looking to respond immediately after their shock defeat at the hands of Gillingham on Wednesday. They face a Fleetwood side who know how to score at home and havnt lost their in their last 6. But Portsmouth last 5 have all seen 1.5 achieved with
    2-0
    3-1
    1-1
    1-2
    2-0
And before that they were on a 11 game streak of scoring in all and 8 in a row they had won which is impressive.

On all the above im happy to take the following as my nap:

    🔺Lincoln DNB 1/2
    🔺Fleetwood v Portsmouth over 1.5 goals at 1/3

Hate to put a negative spin on this weeks Derby trip to Carrow road but having seen Derby’s defensive frailties once again away to Sheff Utd but I don’t think Derby will get a sniff at Norwich.
Once again, Derby conceded first last time out against Sheff Utd, it was actually against the run of play as Derby were starting to show dominance. Our defence was all over the place, Keogh trying to put in a ” Gerrard-esque ” captains performance with too many ” I’m gonna bulldoze my way out of defence and into the opposition half, and then lose the ball to expose a big hole at the back ” – Keogh is NO Gerrard.
Shortly after that sucker punch, Sheff Utd got in on goal and Carson spared the blushes with a good save but just as their striker was about to pounce on the rebound, he was dragged to the floor and the ref ignored it. Stonewall penalty shout for Sheff Utd and Derby countered very quickly to get into the opposition 3rd resulting in a Derby freekick.
It makes you tingle when Derby’s Wilson’s about to strike the ball from just outside the area, its either going in or its gonna cause problems for the keeper. Sheff Utd were still moaning at the ref for missing the penalty shout and obviously felt even more aggrieved when Wilson placed it in the onion bag.
The btts came up, but that wasn’t the start of another Derby comeback. Sheff Utd started menacingly from the restart and Derby struggled to exert their game on the hosts. Sheff Utd grabbed 2 more – both down to big defensive holes at the back and the 3-1 scoreline to Sheff Utd flattered Derby. Our first league loss in December in 4 seasons.
With Norwich making a miracle comeback against Forest on boxing day, and Derby’s defensive frailties, even though Derby have a half decent record away to the canaries, I’d be VERY surprised if we get anything there. We’ve a tough run of games and I was hoping we’d have 3 more points going into this game.
Btts is by no means a rubber stamp, but is highly likely, but I would say the smart money has to go on either Norwich win and btts OR Norwich win and overs 2.5 tmg’s.
Nobody likes betting against their own side, but I’m a realist and like everybody else on this site, if my own team can’t grab points, I may as well try to make some money off their failings.

Hope there’s some good info in there for you guys.

Looking good in Wales with Haverfordwest leading 0-3 after 37 minutes – anyone on can cover at 8/1 for no 4th but hard to see it not landing.

One final selection sees me put a first tentative foot into Brasil’s seasonal Carioca Cup – a tournament based around Rio de Janeiro’s district sides.

AMÉRICA RJ VS. RESENDE (2130 KO):

One game into the initial group stages gives us little indication to work on but much like the other Brasilian seasonal tournees, little changes from year to year so historical H2H’s are usually a fairly accurate indicator.

These two have met 5 times in Carioca 1 over a 2 year spell with just one of those matches seeing less than 3 goals and the last 3 consecutive games going overs with both sides scoring.

Prices look a touch to generous but only at sensible stakes:
