Top Football Tips

ALL the Premier League big guns are in action on Saturday except Arsenal as we return to normal ways.

The big game is the 5.30pm live TV match between Spurs and Chelsea and I'm looking forward to that one.

I have to say it's not the easiest card to find value but I'll do my best.

My English and Scottish previews have been posted separately and most of my picks are reasoned there.

The Super Single comes from the romance of the Scottish Cup as Beith take on Ayr at Bellsdale Park. Beith won my team Clydebank's league on the final day last season and this year sit five points behind us in third but with three games in hand.

I've been to Bellsdale about a dozen times and the atmosphere will be crackling. It's a superb set-up – magic pies and the biggest slope you'll see on a football pitch – and I'm sure visiting fans will love the place.

It's perfectly set up for a giantkilling act but Ayr are having a great season and the gulf between the sides is huge. Beith are an attacking side – 34 goals in 11 West Premiership games – and will fancy their chances of scoring but the Championship leaders should be winning by three or four and Ayr -2.5 Asian is my Super Single.

Well done to any winners last night – the site treble was beaten by Bruges and Niort.

    Eastleigh v Chesterfield

Although the spireites broke their drawing streak in the midweek fa cup win at Billericay. I still think the draw is worth a punt here again. I’m beginning to sound like a broken record but we generally look to be solid away from home and with our last 5 league aways being 1-1s and Eastleighs last two homes being 1-1 (other recent home results 3 x 1-0s a 0-0 and a 2-1 defeat) this should again be a tight game and that gives the value to the draw and our old favourite the 1-1.

LUTON’S away form isn’t what their home form is at present. Having said that, Gillingham, had an extra time FA cup hurdle at Hartlepool on Wednesday, which should favour visitors Luton, if fatigue plays it’s part. However, Gillingham, know where the net is. In Tom Eaves, Gills, have the league’s top scorer and penalty taker. Luton though have to get the nod here for the win, with Gillingham notching.

NAP – MK DONS to win EVENS – League 2

Mk dons come into today’s game following a solid 2-0 win over Macclesfield where they again kept another clean sheet and that’s 7 clean sheets in 6 in 8 games in the league. They face an out of sorts Stevenage who were going ok but the wheels came off and they shipped 7 goals in 5 games and only picked up 7 points. Dons are top of the form table also with 13 points from 5 games and a massive 10 scored and only 2 conceded. They have the best defence In the league with only 10 conceded in 18 matches which is impressive and currently sit top on 37 points. Stevenage currently conceding more than 1 a game with 20 conceded in 18 games, I can’t see MK not scoring and the win is my choice based on recent form and Aneke, Agard and Healey know how to punish poor defending.

Apologies in advance for not posting a Sheff Wed/Derby preview but after the rams last abysmal showing against Aston Villa, nobody in their right mind would bet on anything Derby related.
Derby went into that last game full of beans entertaining an Aston Villa side that were a bit mis-firing. Derby started a bit on the back foot with Wahgorn/Mount and Bryson all side-lined, but we should of had the squad and swagger to at least compete with home advantage. Famous last words. Derby were absolutely dreadful, prior to that 3 nil slap from Villa, only Leeds had beaten us at home – a 4-1 humiliation. … Well, Derby were actually worse than we were against Leeds. Villa were all over us dictating play and I think only for a short 10-15 minute spell in the 1st half, the relentless attacking that Villa threw at Derby for the best part of 75 minutes gave us the wake-up call we deserved. I cannot lump all my frustration on a toothless rams display, Villa looked a top quality side, given their management change and results all over the place and you’d be forgiven if you’d forgotten they’ve spent a great deal of this current season in the wrong half of the table. Derby’s woes got a bit worse too, we have lost Forsyth and Bennett to long injuries ( knee and hamstring ), so we have a key left-wing back, 2 key midfielders, and Waghorn + his replacement on the left wing all out.
Derby are also guilty of not keeping a clean sheet in their last 9 games. I think 2 or 3 in 17 matches. Just not good enough.
We had a look at Curtis Davies returning with the captains armband to partner Keogh in defence, but Tomori somehow found his way back into the side. As good as Tomori has been, he’s often guity of not doing the basics right, and when you partner that with Keogh ( I’ve never rated him ), our back line needs a serious injection of ” kick up the a** ” juice.
Many times this season, Derby have conceded first, this leaves it all to be done. Sometimes we fight back and gain momentum, but other times we collapse.
I can’t see Derby keeping Sheff Wed out, but I also see us scoring, so BTTS is probably the way forward. A Derby clean sheet would be a step in the right direction, but I just don’t see it happening.
Sheff Wed have a terrible record against us, I think they’ve won 2, drawn 5 and lost 10 in 17 matches against us. BUT, the 2 victories against us have come in the last 3 times they’ve faced us.
They have Forrestieri coming back, that was a saga 3 seasons back. Sheff Wed tried to sign Hendrick from us which we rejected, we then put a bid in for Forestieri, that was rejected and he then went on strike. Cue forward a few weeks on the naughty step and Forestieri started to toe the line. Thankfully, he’s either been injured or not his usual self this past few seasons against us.
Derby do have options, I’d like to see more bite in midfield as I think Huddlestone’s best days are behind him. We could sure up the back 4 with a more rigid back line but I would like to see us take the initiative. We’ve had 2 weeks to stew in our juices and I’m sure the likely suspects will want to show the gaffer that we can cope – even with 5 mainstay players out.

But I have to side with BTTS.

Good luck tomorrow folks, might be wise to avoid this game on the win/draw/loss market

Ill be putting this one in a treble but there’s one stand out single for me today and I was rubbing my eyes when I seen the price. I’m returning too my favoured Seria C Group C in 🇮🇹 for a match between Vibonese & Viterbese.

Vibonese have a solid home record and sit 6th after promotion. They’ve lost just 3 of their last 33 home league outings dating back too Feb 2017, infact their loss too 3rd place Trapani this season is their only defeat in 17 home league games winning 14 of those. This season they’ve played 11 games winning 5,drawing 2 & losing 4 which on the face of it seems pretty average. However their 4 defeats have came against 4/5 teams who sit above them in the league. At home they’ve played 5 times winning 4 & losing 1…they’ve scored 9 & conceded 2, keeping clean sheets in all 4 home wins.

Viterbese aren’t great away from home losing 9 of their last 15 away days & winning only 3. This season the away side are only spared bottom place by an apparent points deduction for Matera but have only played 5 matches drawing 1 & losing the other 4, scoring 1 & conceding 8. They’ve lost too 2 fellow strugglers Rieta & Matera who in turn both lost too today’s hosts Vibonese.

Having said all that there’s no way that the home side should be odds against at 11/10 and that’s the main pick

    Vibonese WIN 11/10

Looking at other markets for value for smaller stakes and u2.5mgls is fave at 4/7 as opposed too 27/20 for overs which is fair when you see that 9/11 Vibonese have seen u2.5mgls while Viterbese are 3/5. Of the home sides 5 wins 4 of them have been by a 1-0/2-0 scoreline while 2/4 of the away sides losses have been 1-0 defeats. With the home side 4/5 on clean sheets at home and the away side yet too net on the road I fancy a low scoring home win. So the 3/1 on offer for the home win & u2.5mgls is appealing aswell as 1-0,2-0 correct scores.

    Vibonese WIN & u2.5mgls – 3/1
    Correct score 1-0 @ 11/2
    Correct score 2-0 @ 17/2

And finally a treble adding the top 2 away from home

    Vibonese – 11/10
    Juve Stabia – 1/1
    Rende – 13/10

    17/2

    £5 Returns £48.30

Hey hey hey hey calm down calm down with this palace +1 nonsense
Manchester United have played 18 Premier League games against Crystal Palace without ever losing (W15 D3)
Crystal Palace havent won in seven Premier League games (D2 L5), and have lost each of their last three away from home. Routine home win for United in this 1 macca so dont be throwing 50p on a palace result no matter what Macca the scouser says old chaps. :]

Palace plus 1 nonsense why is that mate, you going by stats again,Zaha back for palace against a Man Utd team who cannot defend for shit, let me explain something to you Sean Ireland Palace very rarely lose by more than a goal to the big teams and nothing is routine with Man Utd mate.As for Liverpool going out the champions league i wasn’t aware we were out,we have Napoli at home in our last game and i do not envisage Napoli getting close to winning that game#fortress Anfield.Man Utd used to be good but not anymore Sean they are average as their league position suggests, maybe no European football for your lot a badly run club.Palace for me.

    • Avatar of John Sharp
      jos 6 years ago

sean ireland. I don’t think Macca has a dig at Utd for the sake of it. It’s not the scouse/manc thing having seen over the season Macc opposing utd on a few occasions but who wouldn’t? There’s obviously a spark missing in utd’s play that encourages utd’s opponents. Likewise, it encourages us punters to also take utd on. Utd may well turn it on today but Palace can be a threat if utd aren’t at it. So Maccas +1 Palace is a fair point

    • Avatar of John Sharp
      jos 6 years ago

Don’t think utd know their routine at the mo, macc. Utd fans I know crave for the Fergie era again but they are miles off. I’ve nothing against fans of any club but I do turn the telly off or flick the page when Mourinho’s mug is there. Don’t care what “he’s” won in the past, he’s been lucky. That luck is running out and showing how clueless he is!

Think you will find Utd have turned the corner since dropping the Big static lump up front tactic,Martial and Rashford have offered a lot more movement and improvement in Uniteds form,as for United not making top 4 you will be eating those words come the seasons end.No denying United have problems i aint blind but there has been a marked improvement since dropping Lukaku apart from the away defeat at City who are gonna win the league by 10+ points again they have won 4 drew 1 including the 2-2 draw at Chelsea and 2-1 win at Juventus.United to win by 1 or 2 goals today.Final table Man City,Liverpool 2nd 10+ points behind if they remain in Champs lg if going into Euro league they will finish in 3rd a a couple of points behind Chelsea, United will just take 4th from Spurs.Another season of what ifs,the ref robbed us and if onlys for the Scouse im afraid Macca. Good luck with the rest of your bets, the United not to win one i just dont see.

morning, aah the magic of the fa trophy!! not many options on the big match today, basingstoke town v torquay united! GJ has said he’s going to play a strong side, he wants to win, and he wants to keep the momentum going. i feel otherwise, as every fa trophy game means another saturday NLS fixture to catch up on, but i have faith in him, and providiing he does what he’s promised and only changes a couple of players then we should sweep these aside quite easily. remembering that we have won our last two matches 4-1 against play off rivals we should be able to get at them swiftly, so my bet today, from a limited selection on bet365 is torquay/torquay ht/ft at 6/4.

    Morning gents

FULL SPFL card today and i’ll be at the game of the day in Perth as St Johnstone aim
aim to make it 6 wins on the spins. My focus though will be at Hibs and Rangers

    Rangers v Livingston (KO 3pm)

There’s no denying this Rangers side have turned Ibrox into a fortress and they’re winning games here and winning them well

They’ve won 5 of their 6 home games and those include some hammerings ( 5-1 7-1 4-0 ) I’ve no doubt Rangers will collect another three points today

Livingston have done fantastically well this season, there’s nothing flash about them, they work hard and make life difficult for teams but they won’t be leaving Ibrox with anything today

    Hibernain v Dundee (KO 3pm)

The hosts lost their first home game in 11 months last time time they played at Easter Road as they were defeated by an excellent St Johnstone side – they then lost to Aberdeen, be unthinkable to think they’ll lose three on the spin, especially against a really poor Dundee side

Jim McIntyre has one point to show from
His opening 5 games in charge at Dens and I don’t see that record improving today.

Lennon will be expecting a reaction and they will have to much quality for Dundee, especially in attack. Comfortable home win for me

    Recommendation

    Rangers / Hibs double
    92/100 ( Black Type) (NAP)

Its the penultimate round of matches in the Norweigan top flight today as all 16 sides are in action at 5pm

At least half of the sides have something to play, escpecially towards the bottom end of the table and with most leagues the last few rounds of matches usually produce goals

    Recommendation

    25+ Goals to be scored
    11/10 (Skybet)
Goal to be scored in the first half
    9/1 (Skybet)

    Bayern Munich v Dusseldorf

Munich have conceded in all 5 home games this season and have kept just 2 clean sheets in 10 so far this season. They have a very important c’pions lge game in 3 days too and also have some players that are doubtful for the game including Lewandowski and Robben so if not 100% may not be risked.
Dusseldorf have been struggling so far this season but did manage to put 4 past Hertha in the last game to earn just their 2nd win of the season which should give them a confidence boost for this game.
    I’m backing the following

    Dusseldorf to score 11/10 boyles

    Dusseldorf +3 6/5 boyles

Bet Builder for the Celtic game.

Player to be carded – Dougie Imrie, he’s had 4 yellows and a red(double booking) in his last 3 games. He’s in the middle of the park and will no doubt be chasing and tackling all day which could bring another card

Player too score – James Forrest, 12 goals in last 11 games including 5 in 2 for Scotland. Will fancy his chances of continuing that run today

    Winning margin – Hamilton have lost 4 of their last 6 by 3+… St Johnstone 4-0,Aberdeen 3-0,Rangers 4-1,Hibs 6-0. Celtic have won 3/4 domestic games by 3+… Hearts 5-0, Dundee 5-0,Hearts 3-0.

    Imrie to be carded
    Forrest too score
    Celtic too win 3+

-2.5 means you need to win by 3 goals, with no money back for a 2 goal win.

A chance to look a little closer at The Mighty Shakers away day in Cambridge has prompted me to home in on our game with a bit more interest…

CAMBRIDGE UTD VS. BURY (1500 KO):

No escaping the fact that our form is red-hot after such a drab start and although Cambridge were looking better in recent games, their own form was cooled down with a 3-1 defeat to Oldham last week.

Given our dominance in front of goal with Mayor, Telford, Maynard, et al, ripping holes in defences every weekend there’s two factors that caught my eye when gathering intel!

The first (any Cambridge fans who can qualify this?) is the stories surrounding the form and condition of keeper David Forde – if there is even a hint of misjudgement and lack of belief then Maynard and co will exploit it all afternoon.

The second is interesting in that both of Cambridge’s centre-halves are left-foofed – the theory being that same footed defensive pairings can often subconciously drift slightly to their favoured side thus leaving a larger than average gap between themselves and (in this case) the right back.

All theoretical but, again, that slight opening would sync perfectly with Mayor’s ability to run at defences especially given the fact that the Cambridge defence have struggled to cope with mazy, dribbling players in particular in many of their recent matches.

Only a matter of time before Nicky Maynard gets back on the scoresheet and although his goalscoring streak has dried up, it’s not been down to a lack of effort with some excellent performances in even the games he has failed to score in.

Three selections interest me here in a game that could see the home sides defence Buryed for long periods of the game:

MAYNARDS ATGS… 6/5 with Bet365 and just 5/4 with SkyBet but a cracking 7/4 with BoylesSports!
    🌟🌟🌟

    BURY 8+ TEAM CORNERS…11/4
    (SkyBet)
    🌟

    BURY TO SCORE A PENALTY…7/1
    (Bet365)
    🌟

    Best of luck 👍

    Vibonese WIN 11/10 ✅

    Vibonese WIN & u2.5mgls – 3/1 ✅
    Correct score 1-0 @ 11/2 ✅
    Correct score 2-0 @ 17/2

And finally a treble adding the top 2 away from home

    Vibonese – 11/10 ✅
    Juve Stabia – 1/1 ✅
    Rende – 13/10????

    17/2

    Vibonese won 1-0 👌

    Eastleigh v Chesterfield

Although the spireites broke their drawing streak in the midweek fa cup win at Billericay. I still think the draw is worth a punt here again. I’m beginning to sound like a broken record but we generally look to be solid away from home and with our last 5 league aways being 1-1s and Eastleighs last two homes being 1-1 (other recent home results 3 x 1-0s a 0-0 and a 2-1 defeat) this should again be a tight game and that gives the value to the draw and our old favourite the 1-1.

    Draw 11/5 bet365✅
    1-1 5/1 bet365 ✅

The gift that keeps on giving!

It’s ridiculous, 6 in a row away from home now. It’s put us in the relegation zone though now so we desperately need to turn these draws to wins.

Its ridiculous @hullshaker I don’t think I’ve ever known a team churn out the same result so many times in such a short amount of time! Last 6 league aways 1-1.

Our fans are now labelling Bromley a must win encounter! We haven’t won in the league since August 9th! Ah well at least there’s a local derby or two in the conference north!

The NZ Youth game came up trumps last night with a belting 10 match goals but tonight’s offering doesn’t offer the same appeal and may be best swerved – instead, I’ve picked out two doubles featuring two games from Chile and Paraguay that may be worth a look for any Night Owls out there…

CERRO PORTEÑO VS. SPORTIVO LUQUEÑO (2250 KO)

Cerro’s form has tailed off a touch but they have been awesome this campaign and are by far the better side both currently and historically; they have hit 2-1-2-4-3-2-2-4-0-2-1-3-3-2-3-1-4 TEAM goals in the last 17 successive H2H’s and my moneys on them to add to that tally against an ailing Luqueno outfit.

    EVERTON VS. PALESTINO
    (2300 KO)

The Chilean top-flight is getting back underway after a brief layoff and the prices just look way too big for goals here – I’d include both sides in my favourites list for what is a pretty prolific league for goals and the 27/20 for 3 goals seems way too generous in a match where I can see both sides netting.

Two doubles to consider – the 1st a solid shout and the 2nd a more speculative effort:

    CERRO OVER 1.5 TGS
    EVERTON V PALESTINO BTTS

    DOUBLE…1.81/1
    (Bet365)
    🌟🌟🌟🌟

    CERRO OVER 2.5 TGS
EVERTON VS. PALESTINO BTTS & OVERS

    DOUBLE…6.21/1
    (Bet365)
    🌟🌟

    Best of luck!

    Psv v herenveen 7-45.
Psv let only 1 goal in 6 home games but herenveen have scored here in their last 8 and 12 of their last visits here all ending in btts.
Hoping this continues and psv have one eye on champions League midweek.
Herenveen also got 3rd best away form in league and 3rd most away goals scored

Herenveen to score 17-20 nap (hills)

    River Plate v Boca Juniors
    Over 2.5 goals at 8/5
Having watched the first encounter i cannot believe the bookies are offering this price on the overs. It was one of the most open games i have seen between these two and defensively both sides look frail.Another reason i like the overs in this game is if one team goes behind the other has to chase which generally leaves them open,it’s a bet worth taking given the history between the two.
Best of luck and again well done Sean Ireland.

You really think so.Klopps got to win something. Two european finals in 3 years suggests to me they are heading in the right direction.Another big spend in January to strengthen should bolster the squad even further.Whats more Liverpool have and will always be a second half season team where they are usually at their strongest.
