4. Jalen Carter (DT) – Georgia
Jalen Carter’s draft stock took a big hit after being involved in a fatal crash a couple of months ago, but he’s still one of the most intriguing and interesting prospects coming out of college this season.
He’s just too quick for a guy his size, and his combination of athleticism and mobility with strength makes him a nightmare for opposing offensive linemen. More than that, he’s still quite young and with plenty of room for improvement as a pass-rusher, which only makes him all the more appealing.
3. Will Anderson Jr. (EDGE) – Alabama
Will Anderson Jr. has a big shot to be the best player in this class — or at least the best non-QB player. He’s got the versatility to line up nearly everywhere on defense, and his combination of raw power, length, and athleticism translates perfectly for the NFL.
Anderson Jr. logged an impressive 17.5 sacks in 2021 and still managed to crack double figures last season despite being the focal point in the rival’s game plan. His work ethic has also been emphasized by scouts and colleagues, and he’s just a whole unit on the defensive side of the field.
2. Bryce Young (QB) – Alabama
Not so long ago, Bryce Young was considered the best prospect in this class. He’s got an all-time high football IQ, and his ability to make reads in real-time is just unprecedented for a guy his age.
Young is a perfect quarterback prospect from a mechanics and brains standpoint. Nonetheless, he’s just 6’0’’ and way under 200 pounds, so there are serious doubts about his ability to endure the physical burdens of the National Football League. He’s still worth the risk, though, as he dominated the SEC almost at will during his days with the Crimson Tide.

CJ Stroud overtook Bryce Young not only because of Young’s physical limitations but also because of his impressive performance at his Pro Day. The Ohio State product led one of the most explosive offenses in the nation last season, and his ability to scramble and/or hit his receivers in stride is just remarkable.
His two-year stint at Columbus was one for the ages, as he can literally do everything you’d ask out of a quarterback at every single level of the field.
