TWO rounds of the Betfred Cup have produced betting heaven and hell. Welcome to the new season.
Last Saturday only one favourite (Partick Thistle) failed to win and I posted 13-2 and 13-10 winners.
It was a different story on Tuesday with a series of shocks that culminated in eight draws and no returns.
Let's hope the group games go to plan today. Last week I picked out St Mirren at just under evens as the value bet and they duly won 4-1 at Stranraer.
Today it's Hamilton who stand out at home to Queen of the South. Accies launched their Group G campaign with victory at East Kilbride and while Queens lead the way their displays haven't been convincing.
Two late goals beat Stenhousemuir and in midweek they were held at home by Lowland League Kilby. Accies have beaten Queens in their last four home meetings and are 4-5 at Marathonbet.
Again finding value isn't easy but I like the look of Dunfermline at home to Peterhead. They beat East Fife 6-0 at home last week with Nicky Clark hitting four and should give their fans something else to shout about at 2-5 with sportingbet.
League One champions Livingston have been one of the better performers in the opening two rounds. They beat Partick on penalties then won at St Mirren so should see off Airdrie and are 2-5 with bet365 to do so.
Killie suffered a day one shock at Ayr and looked set for another defeat against Clyde before bouncing back to win 4-2. With that scare behind them they should win at Annan who are rebuilding. Back Killie at a best 1-3 with sportingbet.
I'm once again putting up a moneyback accumulator – stake back for one wrong. Most bookies require a minimum of five selections but I'm making it six by adding Premiership duo Hearts and Dundee.
Both face minnows at home – East Fife and Buckie Thistle respectively – and should win by at least two.
The sixfold pays a best 11-2 with sportingbet and remember to do the bet with a bookie that does the moneyback concession.
Game of the day is Partick v St Mirren and I'm on the home men to nick a win at 10-11 with sportingbet.
Inverness v Falkirk is another interesting one with both teams looking to go well in the Championship. I'm backing goals in this one and btts pays 3-4 at bet365.
Another game that should produce goals is Clyde v Dumbarton. Jim Chapman's side have performed well in their two games that have totalled nine goals and can give their Championship rivals a decent test. Over 2.5 goals pays 3-5 at sportingbet.
