SOME big games tonight but one match dwarfs them all – yes, the eyes of world football will be gazing down on Taunton’s Vrider Stadium as they play host to a Billericay side they held 2-2 in a cracking match on Saturday.
It’s not always the case that a bit of ‘off the trail’ research pays off, so I was made up when Taunton managed to easily cover the +2 h/cap at the weekend…they could have even made it through with an away win but for a missed penalty.
Whoever runs out victorious this evening now knows they will take on a Chesterfield side away from home for a place in the FA Cup 1st round proper and I can see a continuation of the epic game that was played out in Essex just 5 days ago.
I won’t trot out the full reasoning behind Saturday’s post but I’m going to side with Taunton again and a packed out and potential record home crowd won’t do anything but help their cause.
It’s not as generous a price as the bookmakers laid on at the weekend and rather than the 7-1 on offer for a Taunton win, you’ll only get around 16-5 for the hosts; obviously, that’s going to impact the h/caps in turn so no +2’s here but +1 still has plenty of appeal.
Billericay fielded a couple of new faces in that 2-2 home game and, although, I’m sure it’ll be a full strength starting X1 tonight, Taunton also have a couple of key players back from suspension in the shape of Brett and Mitchell along with big striker Rocky Neal whose red card suspension from Saturday won’t kick in until the next round of games.
These are by no means straightforward selections so stakes must reflect that but there are two options that folk may want to consider with handicap prices as low as 17.20 in places.
