THE Boxing Day card is always one that’s brimming with choice and while that isn’t always a good thing for the punter it does at least mean there’s quality value if you can scour the card hard enough.
I’ve looked at pretty much everything in England and aside from a “belt ‘n' braces” long shot I’ll put up later I just keep coming back to a few selections from our game in Nottinghamshire.
Mansfield v Bury (3pm)
Come May I’d be very surprised if both the Shakers and the Stags weren’t in the promotion mix-up and ex-Bury lad David Flitcroft has plenty of potential in his squad to cause us damage as we make the journey over the tops.
Our 4-2 defeat at Oldham came totally out of left field and proved despite our offensive threat we are still susceptible at the back – a 2-1 defeat of Tranmere restored some order but Mansfield will perhaps prove a tough nut to crack having lost just once at home in their last 11.
Goal wise Field Mill has been as good as Gigg. The Stags have hit 2-2-0-4-4-3-5-1-4-2 team goals in successive games on home soil and although our away scoring record can’t match our home form we have certainly held the hoodoo over Mansfield at their spot having won 5, drawn 2 and lost 0 of the most recent 7 H2Hs …even more notably we have scored in 100% of our last 6 Mansfield away days.
So with the likelihood of goals (and early goals) looking good and the fact that I can’t see either team failing to find the net – a few bets stand out.
Recommended Bets
- BTTS & over 2.5 goals
- (6-5, Bet365) 🌟🌟🌟🌟
- BTTS first half
- (10-3, Bet365) 🌟
- BTTS both halves
- (14-1, Bet365) 🌟
- Jay O'Shea anytime scorer
- (4-1, Bet365) 🌟
This was intended as a much more speculative team goals bet but I’ve cut it down to three after ruling out the others for one reason or another. What started out as a 7-team smaller stake bet now sits as a much higher stake treble.
Over 1.5 Team Goals Treble
- Liverpool
- TNS
- Ebbsfleet
- (1.7-1, bet365)
