NO joy last night with a distinct lack of goals in Iceland despite a great corner count and the latter plays a part in my 2nd pick this evening with the main pick coming from Costa Rica.
LIMÓN v SANTOS DE GUÁPILES (9.05pm)
Limon got off to a flyer in their opening Clausura game matching big-hitting Saprissa goal for goal and a share of the points as they battled out a 2-2 stalemate.
Before the break, Limon were THE team for goals and (including the above match) their last 6 saw scorelines of 2-2, 6-2, 5-2, 2-2, 1-1 and 2-1 – not too shabby and given SdG’s opening gambit of a 1-3 defeat to Alajuelense, we could see more goals to this opening Costa Rican league salvo
The visitors have, in fact, conceded in 90% of their last 10 games having let in a total of 11 goals in their most recent 5 – they fare fairly well in H2H’s but my shout is borne more from current form and the fact that 5 of the last 6 H2Hs since September 2017 have seen both sides scoring.
Recommended Bet
- Btts & over 2.5 goals

FJOLNIR v VALUR (9pm)
My biggest mistake last night was not going with my first instinct in a game where I flagged the probability of corners but then added goals into the mix.
Valur have been my ‘go to’ corners team in the Icelandic Urvalsdeild for a couple of seasons now and it’s rare to see a game when they don’t rack up a decent count – the worry with corners will always be that as a game progresses with goals, the likelihood of corners usually diminishes.
Given Fjolnir have home advantage here and not Valur, the hosts will want to make a decent showing after a disappointing campaign last year, I reckon that corner count will ratchet up as Valur exert their dominance down the flanks but come up against plenty of tackles, kick-outs and saved shots.
Recommended Bet
- Over 10 corners
- (6-5, bet365) 🌟🌟
Admin, if my tips crash and burn at least your headline was a cracker 😂
Got to give Scott credit for that one.
