WELL done all with big ticks against their bets yesterday – rather than being in the winner's enclosure I was crouched in a corner sucking my thumb and thrashing myself with a birch branch after a bit of a horror show … onwards.
ATHERTON COLLIERIES v COLWYN BAY (7.45pm)
I know Atherton fairly well – it’s a proud Lancashire mining town and one of the only places I know where the locals still wear clogs and make pagan sacrifices on a full moon.
Colywyn Bay I know less so – in fact I know just two things about it: 1. My mate Ste from school works in the Morrisons there and 2. They were one of THE best lower-league teams for btts plus goals in recent years until their downward spiral into the NL Div One saw me lose touch with their fortunes.
Both sides have started their respective campaigns with a win though. Atherton 2-0 away and Colywn Bay with a 1-0 victory at home while both of last season’s H2Hs saw btts and overs trap with 3-1 and 2-1 scorelines.
A look through last season’s fixtures and scorelines show old habits die hard for the Welsh side and goals are still plentiful in their matches – something reflected in Atherton’s own games and the division in general.
Recommended Bet
- Over 2.5 goals
- (4-6, bet365)
Oddly shaker these 2 meet again on Saturday in the fa cup at the same venue.
Don’t know if odds are up for that but would make a confusing over 2.5 double for the bookies.
Yeah saw that Parsley – hope you are well pal and all is stable on the Maes-G estate ?
Aye fairly quiet.
Took this picture earlier of a local protest in maesgeirchan at the dismissal of guto the long serving lollipop man who has been seeing kids across the road for 36 years.

Not many folk know this but rapper Ice-T actually grew up in Bangor and penned his famous track ’99 problems’ about Guto.
Sad times.
