I'VE no time to put the full reasoning up for Bury's visit to Meadow Lane but I’m sure folk can read between the lines.
Suffice to say it’s a horror show for County as they leapfrog (the wrong way) a resurgent Macclesfield under Sol Campbell’s tenureship for a clear bottom spot in League Two.
The Magpies have conceded 2-4-2-2-2 goals in successive games and may just struggle against a Shakers side with genuine intent to attack.
What is also well worth noting is in the last 9 years we’ve met a total of 7 times with the match goal totals hitting 4+ in 6, 5+ in 4 and 6+ in 2 – not too shabby at all and it’s a long-standing H2H.
I seem to remember seeing us beat an early 90s outfit 3-2 in the days of a rather rotund Steve Cherry getting dog’s abuse from The Manchester Road End crowd at Gigg as he failed to protect his net.
We need to improve on the road and have a good bouncebackability record off the back of weaker performances – today's match is one to prove our credentials and is an opportunity we need to make the most of – I think we will and I’m putting my faith in The Shakers in what ought to be an action-packed game.
