Shayem put in a nice performance to win another two-year-old race for Karl Burke.

Unfortunately, the other two selections on the day had to settle for second place, making it a loss on the day despite a 2pt winner.

Shayem was positioned well by Clifford Lee, and when he asked his horse to pick up after the final bend, there was only ever going to be one winner.

Stormy Impact wasn't able to go the early gallop, and she was in trouble a long way from home. Her stamina kicked in, as she tried to run down the eventual winner, but she had many lengths in hand to fend off the late challenge.

Aegean Prince was denied by Joseph O'Brien's raider in France. The money was strong for the Godolphin runner, being backed into half the price when advised. He was very once paced and couldn't pass the winner.

Diamond Geezer 9/4 (1pt) – Perth 4.40

Olly Murphy had a rough patch a month or so ago, but his form has started to take a turn for better.

His runners are always well backed in, especially when they are in the Northern-based tracks like Perth, but I do think he deserves to be the favourite for this in front of Mountain Molly.

Diamond Geezer was a runner-up on his last start to a well-handicapped Shantou Lucky, who won by just under three lengths.

The form of that race has worked out well. The winner has since won a further two times, and was a good third over fences off a mark of 113, which was 34lbs higher than when beating Diamond Geezer.

Diamond Geezer's penultimate run was a second-placed effort to Strackan. That horse was 99 rated at the time, and is now rated 123.

Heaven Smart 7/4 (1pt) – Perth 3.35

Carrying top weight will make today's assignment tougher than it should be for Heaven Smart, but he is on a good mark and a return to three miles should be helpful.

Since moving to Laura Morgan's yard, he has started to find his feet again. Some of that will be down to his falling handicap mark, and another will be due to Laura being a very good trainer with chasers.

He managed to win over 2m 4f at Perth before following up at Southwell with a runner-up finish to an extremely well-handicapped animal in the form of Couldbeaweapon.

The handicapper hasn't shown any remorse, and has raised Heaven Smart by 5lbs for a runner-up finish, but even with that he is still below a winning mark.

Laura Morgan has a solid record at this track, with a 23% strike rate.
