Yellow Diamonds got the job done for us on Wednesday, turning over the market principal who was mightily disappointing again.

I was quietly confident in the chances of Yellow Diamonds on Wednesday as I couldn't for the life of me understand why Karl Burke's runner was as short as she was. I fully understand how well Karl does with his youngsters, but she showed next to nothing on debut and arguably was worse in yesterday's contest.

Rizzel will return tomorrow evening for Friday's racing, so this will be my last tip until I'm asked to cover again. It was good to be back for the short time I was asked to cover, and thankfully, we managed to find a few winners or so within the last week.

Pilu 4/1 – Salisbury 3.50

I once again have decided to go hunting in a small runner field, but this time it's the outsider of the field that tickled my fancy.

My selection comes in the shape of the Rogel Teal-trained Pilu, who I think has as much chance as any in this field of winning. Pilu is taking a significant step up in grade for this contest, but this lightly raced sort is two from two for trainer Roger Teal, and he must fancy his chances since he is throwing him into this competitive little Class 2.

My selection remains unbeaten after two career starts, and after watching those two races, I have to say there was a lot to like about each performance. Pilu got off to a flyer on debut, outing his odds of 28/1 to win quite comfortably at Bath under jockey Jason Watson. What made that performance even more impressive was the fact that he came from the rear of the field over 5 and a half furlongs, eased into contention, and hit the front with the minimum of fuss. Pilu followed up next time out over 6f at Salisbury, this time justifying favouritism with a cool front-running ride under the same jockey in Jason Watson.

Your current market leader, Sword Maker, is very much on an upward trajectory, and I'm a huge fan of the trainer and jockey combination of Oisin Murphy and S Bin Suroor as they tend to do well when teaming up. Sword Maker should run a big race as he continues to progress, but I'm not sure I'd want to get involved at 11/10.
