I had a no bet today so didn’t have an opportunity to touch on Tuesdays selections. Carey Street as I expected outran her massive odds of 14/1 and grabbed 2nd place for a nice each way profit.
I’ve gone for an each way selection on Thursday and again I’ll be sticking to the flat at Southwell.
1:45 Southwell
Roger Varian's Robert Walpole is a short price 6/4 favourite and I expect it to shorten even further and to be quite honest I’m not totally convinced.
I actually had money on the table for Robert Walpole when he ran at the end of February where he ran over 1m1f and went off around even money that day also.
I thought he was massively disappointing, never really found much in the straight and ran very green. Now I understand connections obviously feel quite strongly that’ll he’ll come on for that run and will progress but I’m not totally sure about it and at 6/4 I would be avoiding and looking elsewhere.
R Menzies' Love Your Work is in cracking form with form figures of 12421 and won quite nicely last time out. Love Your Work is technically running off a lower mark today with apprentice Molly Presland's allowance coming into play.
The one that caught my eye at bigger odds and I advise going each way if you decide on having a bet is Back from Dubai, currently trading at 8/1.
I caught his last run and I’m more than happy to draw a line through it as he was denied a clear run. He was on for a 5 timer that day and is still a horse in great form.
Most of the horses at the top of the market (Love Your Work, Robert Walpole and Lucayan) all have to give weight to my selection and I don’t believe the handicapper has got to grips with him just yet.
Good luck!
