ROSS CLARK'S Cheltenham tips came good yesterday when track-specialist Bob's Worth landed the RSA at 9-2 as Grand Crus disappointed many favourite backers. Here he previews two of Thursday's races at the famous Festival.
Pertemps Final
A very open affair, and of course being a handicap is more open to some longer odds winners. Over the last 10-11 years winners have included 14/1, 16/1, 18/1, 20/1 and 50/1. Age looks important, tending to be 6-9 year olds favoured, though Buena Vista, winner of the race for the last two years is now 11 and can’t be ruled out. Winners have Class 3+ wins behind them, and winning experience of 20 furlongs plus. 11-2 looks to be the maximum weight ideally.
We’ve looked at the various criteria and have settled on a few double odds options. The short list is Buena Vista, Cape Tribulation, Sir Keezbah, Thehillofuisneach, Grand Vision and Sunnyhill Boy.
I’m not sure Thehillofuisneach or Cape Tribulation are quite classy enough to win this.
Grand Vision is, but is given a handicap hike of 14lb for its last win, which had Sunnyhill Boy behind it. The latter however has course winning experience which the former does not.
I also like Sir Keezbah who will prefer the going and is a CD winner, though his rating is now up.
The selections are Buena Vista, Sir Keezbah and Sunnyhill Boy, all each way.
Ross Clark's Tips:
- Buena Vista 0.5pt each way
- Sir Keezbah 0.5pt each way
- Sunnyhill Boy 0.5pt each way
Ryanair Chase
Alberta’s Run has won this the last two years and enters as officially top-rated horse. However, this is a negative as far as race trends are concerned.
He has beaten two other joint top rated, Rubi Light and Poquelin, before and I would not be fancying either of those.
There is a strong positive though to a previous course winner who is one of the leaders in the betting market. The only runner to satisfy this double criterion is Noble Prince, currently around 6-1.
A bit further out in the betting is Great Endeavour at 12-1 but he has been out of the first three in his last two races which is a negative.
Noble Prince ticks all the boxes, won last year’s Jewson and will be hard to beat. The other main potential winners are Medermit, Riverside Theatre and Somersby.
I’m not convinced Somersby will follow up on his excellent Ascot win in the Victor Chandlers in January.
I like the other two, probably preferring Riverside Theatre who beat Medermit at Ascot last month.
However there is a doubt over Riverside Theatre’s liking for Cheltenham, so my advice in this race is to back Noble Prince each way.
Ross Clark's Tip
- Noble Prince 1pt each way
Paul do not under any circumstances mean to be rude but you tip football 85% correct at most so why are you giving horse racing tips or is it just tip whatever big time gamblers new to mr fixit until recently i relised you were not a computer generator but infact a human being that cant possible take the blame for people betting and losing on an educated guess
Danny, firstly you are being rude and secondly I’m not sure what point you’re making. I’m not giving Cheltenham tips personally and wouldn’t ever consider it because racing is not my field. The tips are being provided by Winning Insights and yesterday Bobs Worth was out up.Plenty of people have commented on how useful the info has been. We are predominantly a football site but put up Cheltenham tips by demand. You are getting these free of charge and no one’s twisting your arm to take them. Cheltenham is a tough place to pick winners so I don’t think you should criticise anyone who has a go, does the research and provides what he believes to be a value bet. I’ve said it before but anyone who doesn’t like the site shouldn’t visit us.
to get down to business
manunited 6.00
hannover 6.00
athletico 8.05
shalke 8.05
olympiakos 8.05
2.50 = £59 william hill
Danny, all the best with that bet. My tips will be up soon, just wanted to read as much team news as possible because it’s a night when managers could play weakened sides.
if that bet wins i will personally send you a cheque, with everything i have.
Danny, I backed Bobs Worth yesterday after reading Ross Clark’s post (at a handsome price).
We’re all on here with the same agenda, to make a few quid from the bookies, so anyone with a valued tip with reasoning on ANY sport is more than welcome.
Neil, well said. I’ve read everything Ross Clark has posted and he clearly knows his stuff. That doesn’t guarantee winners because so much can happen, particularly at Cheltenham, but as you’ve said he is providing visitors to the site with some good info and stats as well as tips.
PEDDLERS CROSS RIVERSIDE THEATRE AND OSCAR WHISKY ARE MY BETS TODAY AT CHELTENHAM GL ALL.
Paul never mind Danny. I guess he is just another bad loser. I need a both teams to score big man
Chris, they’re up now. Reckon those three have the best chance then maybe Hannover v Standard Liege.
i like noble prince aswell ross, so fingers crossed, great endeavour has a great chance ironically, and may i have ur opinion on BLAZING TEMPO 25/1, reckon that price will soon shorten, few whispers on william hill about it.
galway plate winner aswell. another irish one av came across thats sticking out is YOUR BUSY 20/1 at 4:40
I think Paul has answered Danny’s question well, and there’s not much more to add, except that I analyse races for hours and I absolutely won’t get them all right but the strategy is to have enough selections winning or at least placing at decent prices, that over 20% profit is obtained consistently, over a period. Paul is right – Cheltenham is really difficult but I appreciated the chance to put my thoughts up on the site, which took time to look into and write up. When there’s a loser, my money has also gone unfortunately! No joy with Noble Prince today, don’t know yet what went wrong with him. Good to get Bob’s Worth yesterday and if you read my preview last week, I advised Finian’s Rainbow too, so not too bad. I didn’t do a race analysis on the 4.40 but have tipped Sunnyhill Boy ew on my website.
Paul
Please confirm-
I done an £2 ew accer ante post for cheltenham
Hunt Ball 10/1 – won
New years eve 12/1 – 2nd
Albertas Run 10/1 – 2nd
Batonnier 9/1 – NR on the day
Hills are saying that its a losing bet as Batonnier effectively got beat. I know Ante Post singles are treated this way, but when theres other horses involved???
Absolutely raging with William Hill at this, and theyve done me out of near on £100.
Piss poor.
Willie, as far as I’m aware a non-runner’s a loser unless you’ve done “non runner no bet”. I was once advised to mark “if non-runner transfer to favourite” and that works quote well. If Hills are doing what’s printed in their rules I don’t think you can complain. If they are doing something else I can take it up for you.
Paul my mate checked their rules and thinks I have a shout. I cant check them as on my laptop it comes up with a warning when i access that part of the site. I didnt mark Non Runner No Bet.
Although made the assumption as it was not a single bet, that would be different. Galls me though having 2 x 10/1s and a 12/1 placed and the bets classed as a loser???
Willie, I’ll see if I can get clarification.
Willie, don’t think it matters that it was part of an accumulator. Owen Scott has commented and it doesn’t look like you’re going to be in luck.
Paul / Owen
Cheers for clarification.
Im sure Bet365 were doing non runner no bet for all cheltenham races too. Wish I had stuck to my online account for Chelts bets. Fool.
Hii Paul just read the outburst from Danny sounds like something I would expect from a bad loser, this site is for people who enjoy your tips.I have followed the tips from Ross on winning insights for a few weeks with more winners than losers over that period,i have also purchased from Ross a pdf document for football and i have not had it for very long i have not had much time to test it out i will let you know how it goes.Keep up the tips should they be on Racing,Football or tiddleywinks.Success to all.
Ian, he’s the only guy who has complained about Ross and it’s great that other readers are willing to stand up fro him.
Willie when did you place your bet?
This is taken from the rules on the William Hill website
Ante post bets are accepted on the understanding that you will lose your stake if your selection does not participate. No Tattersalls’ Rule 4 deductions are made from winning bets except when a runner in a horse race is balloted out.
Owen
The bet was placed on 5th March (so defo ante post) in PRW Argosy branch.
Looks like a loser for me, and to be fair to the boy in the Barrhead Cross Arthurlie Branch today, he was really decent about it,
Total ball buster tho when you think youve won a £ton, hand over the line, and be told sorry its a loser, when there wasnt a loser on the line.
No doubt the saying ‘shit happens’ applies here !!
