YORK and Goodwood are the feature meetings today on a great day of racing and I have two selections from each course.
1.50pm York
I am surprised to see SENIORITY available at a 8-1 across the board for this. He has won nicely three times this season in decent handicaps, especially last time out at Goodwood where he beat Poet’s Society who subsequently won at York this week. I can see this one putting a smile on the Queen’s face on Saturday afternoon.
2.40pm Goodwood
MAGNETIC CHARM looks really classy and is well thought of at home by William Haggas and I think she should be nearly half the price she is here. I expect her to win and give the Queen a double across the card.
3.15pm Goodwood
I am amazed that ACES is available at a double figure price for this race. He looked like a different horse in June after being switched to Ian Williams yard, winning twice quite comfortably. He hasn’t been seen since and looks like he has been primed for this race. It looks like a cracking bet to me at these prices.
3.40pm York
This race is all about Stratum for Willie Mullins. It is the most talked about horse of the week and on his win last time out looks to be a potential top group level stayer still running in handicaps with a relatively low weight. I can’t recommend a bet at 7/2 with 20 runners but by the same token if you are keen don’t let me put you off. The biggest danger is possibly Whisky Sour from the same stable who is also potentially well handicapped and will like this slightly shorter trip than his last flat run but he is also a bit short.
The value in the race for me comes from MUNTAHAA who is a group level horse but doesn’t actually have to give too much weight to the rest here. He is a classy beast and if Jim Crowley can get a good spot on him he should be bang there at the end and give us a good run for our money at a big price.
