IT was nice t0 have another winner last week with Who Dares Wins storming home at 7/1 despite the disappointment of the Ayr Gold Cup meeting being cancelled.

Today sees some great action once again across the country with Newmarket and Haydock hosting great cards and there is also a nice bit of value about one this evening at Chelmsford that has caught my eye.

3.35pm Newmarket

The Cambridgeshire is one of those handicaps that look impossible on paper.  There are 35 runners many of whom have been in good form this season but that leads to a wide open market and enhanced place terms from most bookmakers which gives us a decent shot at finding some each way value.

Regular readers will remember that I have been hot on CHELSEA LAD for a few months now.  He was a bit disappointing last time out when he only managed 9th of 17 runners but he didn't get much luck in running that day and I still think he has a good bit of improvement in him.  Crucially he has raced here twice and won twice which is a big bonus for me.  With SkyBet offering 8 places in their each way terms I think we need to take advantage and go for Chelsea Lad each way again at nice odds.

4.45 Newmarket

There was a lot to like about the performance from AWESOMETANK last time out when he finished second to Teppal at Lingfield by a neck with the two of them well clear of the rest.  That looks even better following Monday's victory for Teppal who absolutely stoated up, albeit not in a brilliant race, but in a manner that suggested he was heading for bigger and better things.

Awesometank could be really well handicapped here and with some bookies paying 4 places each way it looks like an each way shot to nothing for me.

7.20pm Chelmsford

Some nice value at Chelmsford tonight where Danny Tudhope heads down from Haydock following the afternoon card there to ride INTISAAB in the 7.20pm.  This is a conditions race so not a handicap and it is easier to discount quite a few that Intisaab is better than and should finish ahead of if he runs to form.  His one and only try on an all weather surface was at Newcastle where he was just pipped by Koropick in a competitive Group 3 race.

This isn't as strong today and I see him running a big race.  The main danger is the favourite Steady Pace but he was disappointing last night so with Intisaab at a nice each way price I'm quite happy to take him on.  Second favourite Afjaan has been off since April so again there are risks attached to him at what looks too short a price.

Recommendations:

  • 3.35 Newmarket – Chelsea Lad – 1pt each way at 14/1 with SkyBet (paying 8 places)
  • 4.45 Newmarket – Awesometank – 2pt each way at 7/1 with Ladbrokes and Coral (both paying 4 places)
  • 7.20pm Chelmsford – Intisaab – 2pt each at 9/1 with Ladbrokes, William Hill and others
