I HAD a lovely little 25-1 winner last Saturday with Regal Flow so I’m hoping we can keep that form going today.
It feels bizarre switching the focus on to the turf flat racing, particularly as the rain continues to lash down across the country, but that’s the way the fixtures have fallen so it’s off to Doncaster we go for the Lincoln and a good supporting card.
There was nothing of note for me today over jumps at Newbury but I have two I like at big prices at Doncaster.
2.25 Doncaster
One of the more modern pieces of rhyming slang for having a bet is to “have a Titus” (a Titus Bramble, gamble) so it seems fitting I am taking a speculative chance here on TITUS.
He has his first run for Declan Carroll today having previously been with Dermot Weld over in Ireland, who didn’t have a great season last year by his own high standards.
Titus should have no issue with soft ground and has the benefit of Daniel Tudhope in the plate. I’m hoping the change of scenery can spark some life into this four-year-old who could well have plenty of potential having only had four career starts to date.
3.35 Doncaster
The race looks wide open so I’m not interested in the likes of of Fire Brigade and Adeyeb at short prices. I also think it’s a big ask for Lord Glitters to carry top weight to victory in what will be pretty soft ground.
CHELSEA LAD for Martyn Meade was very much the nearly man of last season, being placed several times in big handicaps without getting his head in front.
He will relish the softer ground and is definitely worth a punt at an each-way price particularly from his draw today where he should get some pacey horses ahead of him giving him a good tow into the race.
I was also going to tip Bravery for the race and had written out my case for him only to check the prices and find he is now a non-runner. I’ll pin all my hopes on Chelsea Lad for the race then.
