IT'S NOT top quality racing across the country today but there are some nice handicaps and I have a few horses that I have been tracking that catch the eye.
The forecast soft ground today is to take very seriously when selecting your horses, particularly at at time like this during the summer in flat races where there might not be a ton of form on soft ground and most horses will be used to firmer surfaces. It's definitely something to bear in mind.
3.30 Haydock
An intriguing race for fillies where there are quite a few with decent form on soft ground. The obvious one for me is AJMAN PRINCESS who is the highest rated horse in the field, has won her last two races and has form on soft ground. As a four year old she is clearly still improving and I was surprised to see her available at 11/4 so that is the value bet for me.
4.05 Haydock
This is a competitive group race and again there are a few with decent form on soft ground. JALLOTA is my pick. He likes the surface, Charlie Hills has a good record in the race and he will be better for the run last time when he did very well after a break. For me the race is a fight between Jallota and Bretton Rock and at the prices Jallota holds much more appeal.
3.10 Chester
I'm looking forward to this race which, like the races from Haydock, is being covered live on ITV4. It's a bit of a lower level being a class 3 race but there is one running in that I have had an eye on. ITSAKINDOFMAGIC looked like a potentially decent horse when he won his maiden at Chelmsford. He did it nicely that day despite running like a madman for most o the race.
Next time out he was troublesome again, nearly pulling Oisin Murphy's arms out and he did far too much too early and faded near the end. They are trying him with a tongue tie for the first time today and if that works I think he could be a nice each way value bet at 12/1.
