I DECIDED that I couldn't let this little bit of value go unmentioned today at Doncaster, so apologies for the slightly late notice this morning.
3.15pm Doncaster
The Sceptre Fillies Stakes is a Group 3 race run over 7 furlongs and it's that distance that I think will be key for my selection. CLOAK OF SPIRITS is more or less the best of these on ratings but her form has largely come over a mile where she invariably drops away in the last furlong. Connections have seen sense and she is now targeted at a 7 furlong race which in my opinion she has been crying out for since her 2nd to the top class Love in the 1,000 Guineas in June. I am surprised both that she is available at 5/1 and that firms are paying 4 place each way. I wouldn't put you off backing her each way because I'll be amazed if she isn't in the top 4 and disappointed if she doesn't win this race where there is no standout alternative candidate even if you base your comparison on her form over a mile.
