IT'S a whistlestop tour round the UK and Ireland today with strong fancies in seven races at four different tracks. I'll list them in chronological order to make it easier to follow. Let's get cracking…
1.50 Haydock
Martyn Meade is a magician with his two year olds but the market often doesn't cotton on to that fact, particularly when his horses are up against those from higher profile stables. CHILEAN looked very impressive winning last time out and whilst Dark Acclaim and a few others here look impressive, Meade's horse is overpriced so worth a small win bet for me.
3.20 Ascot
BLACK BESS is a horse I've followed for a few years. She is a consistent filly and I think the form of her last race where she was 3rd to a couple of progressive three year olds suggests she is as good as ever now. She has the assistance of young Paddy Bradley on board who is very good value for his 5lb claim and I think she has a great chance of making the frame at a nice price.
3.55 Ascot
CAPE COAST is a rock solid each way bet for me here. He is an improving horse at this sort of trip and will be there or thereabouts as long as the soft ground isn't an issue which his running style suggests it won't be.
4.25 Kempton
A solid win bet on EQTIDAAR here who is better than these judged on his skoosh on debut. He will go on to bigger and better things and the 7/4 that is available just now might look very generous later on.
4.35 Leopardstown
Over to Ireland we go on our magical mystery tour to meet an old friend in the shape of SNOW FALCON. Regular readers will remember that I have tipped this lad in top class staying hurdle races a few times over the past year or two but he is racing on the flat here. He's a classy horse and I suspect he will go very close off this handicap mark on the flat.
4.45 Haydock
TIME TO STUDY is absolutely rock solid in terms of form and I can't see him not being involved at the finish. His 5th in the Queen's Vase is a good piece of form and he also has form on soft ground.
6.10 Leopardstown
I'm taking a bit of a chance on SUEDOIS here. David O'Meara isn't taking the horse, complete with stable jockey Danny Tudhope, all the way over to Ireland so they can enjoy a good pint of Guinness. They are clearly targeting the race. The one nagging doubt I have is the distance of one mile because Suedois doesn't have any form at that distance. Perhaps O'Meara thinks the slight step up will suit the horse so I'll yield to his judgement and get behind the horse. Certainly the drop down to Group 2 level will be helpful.
