LAST week my two runners became one with Dell'Arca being a non runner. Sky Pirate was absolutely cruising coming to the second last which he jumped very poorly and would surely have won otherwise. We'll take the place money though and I'll keep an eye on him for similar races moving forward.
That return on Sky Pirate makes it three profitable weeks in a row for my selections. This week I have five selections running at Ascot and Haydock on another great Saturday of jumps racing. Have a listen to the Gambla Racing podcast where we run through my picks:
1.50pm Haydock
I'm giving another chance to FIX SUN who we backed last time out. I thought he travelled nicely before fading quite quickly that day and I'm hoping it was just a case of a horse who needed his first run of the season. He is a big price today so worth another chance.
2.05pm Ascot
All four have strong chances in this race but I would make REAL STEEL favourite given his previous exploits in Ireland. He has his first run for the Paul Nicholls yard and looks the value bet in the race for me.
2.25pm Haydock
I have a soft spot for Henry Daly, trainer of FLASHJACK in this race and I think the horse is very much overpriced at 40-1. Three miles in the mud at Haydock is exactly what the horse wants and he has been eased a couple of pounds in the handicap for his last run. He is a 10 year old now so there aren't likely to be any major surprises from the horse but with conditions to suit we have to take a chance at a huge price.
3.17pm Ascot
This race could be a peach with no less than 5 of the 8 runners having won last time out. My pick is ABBEY MAGIC at the prices who is young and progressive and can find the improvement to win again today.
3.35pm Haydock
This one will be a real battle and I think that KINGS MONARCH is the horse best suited to the task. There are plenty of horses in the field who will enjoy the stamina test but most of them are exposed in a handicapping sense whereas Kings Monarch still has potential for improvement.
having a small nibble on FLASHJACK too, wouldn’t say he has his conditions though, all his wins soft/heavy, today it’s soft/good.
Insider I take it you dont look at weather forecasts?
