THE big race of the day is the bet365 Cambridgeshire at Newmarket and I have two selections there along with two other picks at Newmarket that stand out to me as great value.
We discuss that on the Gambla podcast so have a listen and let us know if you have any feedback:
My Saturday selections are as follows:
2.25pm Newmarket
I tipped MISS AMULET yesterday at 100/30 on the podcast and she is now best price 11/4 but I still think that is a decent bet. I am concerned about the form of the Karl Burke yard and his Dandalla has indeed drifted significantly in the market since we recorded. Miss Amulet is an improving filly and will take a hell of a lot of beating in this one.
3.00pm Newmarket
SUPREMACY is a horse who ran incredibly well last time out at Goodwood and looks a Group 1 horse in the making. This is of course a competitive race but I fancy him and he has now drifted to the sort of price where we can back him each way. He is definitely the value pick for me.
3.35pm Newmarket
My original selection Ilaraab is now a non-runner so my alternative pick would be SIR BUSKER. He is in danger of catching a bit of seconditis this season having finished runner up on 3 of his last 4 starts. He usually finishes very strongly over a mile and a couple of times you have thought that he would get up to win if there was another hundred yards. For that reason I think today’s extra furlong could be perfect and although he will be susceptible to an improving well-handicapped type we are getting 20-1 with firms paying 6 and 7 places so it’s well worth taking a punt.
At an even bigger price I fancy BEAR FORCE ONE to outrun his odds of 50-1 (66s in a place). He still has scope for improvement as a lightly raced 4 year old who is on a fair handicap mark and I don’t think he will he inconvenienced by the softer ground.
