I WAS delighted to see Sky Pirate finally get his head in front last Saturday and our faith was rewarded with a nice 5-1 winner which makes it four profitable weeks in a row for this column.
This Saturday we see jumps racing go to Haydock and Ascot with the former looking extremely wet and muddy and the latter probably not far behind.
I have four selections across the two tracks that I fancy to run well. Have a listen to the Gambla Racing Podcast where we discuss my thoughts on those selections:
1.50pm Ascot
In a tricky race I think that MENGLI KHAN looks like good value choice. There isn’t a whole lot of strength in depth in the race so if Nicky Henderson can get a tune out of Mengli Khan first time out his class could make the difference. Conditions shouldn’t pose a problem.
2.25pm Ascot
In a race that rightly has Paisley Park and Thyme Hill as favourites the intriguing horse for me is MAIN FACT who has been unbeaten in his last 9 (nine) runs over flat and hurdles. This is another big step up for the horse but his ceiling is unknown at this point and he looks the each way value to me against the front two.
2.40pm Haydock
I tipped HILL SIXTEEN when he won a couple of weeks ago and I think he can go really well again. He races off a higher handicap mark today but he is still unexposed over staying trips and the heavy ground here should be perfect for him.
3.00pm Ascot
My final selection is ESPOIR DE GUYE for Venetia Williams in the staying chase at Ascot. The horse is unexposed over staying trips and looks the real improver in the field to me.
